Thank You For Being You Card
Posted on: Monday, February 7th, 2011Happy Monday everyone! Although many people groan when Monday rolls around, I personally love it, because I get to head down to my studio and immerse myself in the creative process.
Today I wanted to share with you a fun and bright card I created using some of my Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration goodies. I paired the bright fun patterns of the Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents pack with a fun new stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog called Bold Blossom. Here’s how I made the card:
-
Cut three pieces of DP – each in a different pattern – from the Ice Cream Parlor DP collection. The Old Olive Polka Dot pattern is 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″, the yellow pattern is 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ and the Melon Mambo pattern is 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″. I started with a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Whisper White CS and then first centered and stuck the yellow pattern. Once that was stuck down, I attached the Old Olive pattern and then the Melon Mambo pattern.
-
Stitch around the edges of the layered DP piece with your sewing machine and white thread.
-
Lay a 5 1/2″ piece of Old Olive Taffeta ribbon across the edge of the Old Olive DP. Bring the ends around back and stick them down to the CS.
-
Center and stick the layered DP piece onto a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Melon Mambo CS, and then center and stick this onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Whisper White card front.
-
Scallop one 2 1/4″ side of a 2 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White CS using the Scallop Edge Border punch. Round the top left and right corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
-
Stamp the leaves from the Bold Blossom stamp set twice onto the Whisper White CS piece in Pear Pizzazz Classic ink. Add a small pale green rhinestone where each of the sets of leaves intersect the stem. Stamp the greeting in the bottom right corner in black ink.
-
Die cut a large 6 petal flower from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits die out of Pink Pirouette CS and one out of Pacific Point CS. Die cut the medium 6 petal flower from the Birds and Blooms Sizzlits die out of Melon Mambo CS and Daffodil Delight CS.
-
Distress the flowers by spritzing them with a mini mister and water and then gently crumpling and uncrumpling them. Let them dry and then layer them with Stampin’ Dimensionals and stick them to the top of the stamped stems.
-
Faux thread a Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight button from the Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack with coordinating slivers of DP. Stick them to the center of the flowers with a mini glue dot for each.
-
Center and stick the Whisper White image piece to the card front. You’re done!
I hope you all enjoyed today’s card!
I would like to close today’s post with a big thank you for the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from the vast majority of you over my announcement of my resignation from Stampin’ Up!. Wow! I wish I lived in Canada, I would love to have you as a customer, but Texas is a long way from Canada. I am glad you will continue using stampin up products, I turn to your website when I need inspiration for a stamp set that I am struggling with. Thanks for all your hard work, you have an awesome site.
PS I love the crafters Library

You’re a class act! Far more classy than the busybodies on SCS, LNS and SU Connection. People should take a lesson from you.

Andrea, I am so sorry that Stampin’ Up took their stance and that you are no longer a demonstrator – it is certainly SU’s loss.
I have enjoyed your tutorials and creations, and I wish you well in your new endeavor.

Glad you are back in your studio! We missed you and support you every step! Cute, cute card.

As a passive Aussie demo, I find it appalling that a committed and passionate SU! Demonstrator like yourself was given this ultimatum in the first place. In Australia, we only get half the products that are released over in the US/Canada – so we have to improvise and use other products. I think the envious “dibby dobbers” should take a good look at themselves, but I think this will work out better for you – you now have the freedom to use whatever you like when you like with less stress. It is not Episcopalian Christian (Co founderShelli) of them is it? Well I enjoy your projects and blog in between nursing and running a busy household of kids. Lots of Hugs xx

I really like this card it just looks happy
Isn’t it amazing what a straight stitch from the sewing machine can do?

Awesome card, Andrea! Love the sparkles and the gorgeous flowers.

What great flowers! Never thought of layering those together and they look wonderful with the button in the middle. Thanks for the inspiration!

February 7th, 2011 at 10:51 pm
I hope you make lots of money at your new business and let me tell you, SU will be the sorry one! Take care and I think you are great.
February 7th, 2011 at 11:53 pm
WOW, that is just cruel as you are one of the best SU demonstrators I know and I’m sure we all use other items that are not strictly stampin up. Glad you are still posting. You are truly a class act. Best of luck on the Paper Crafting Library.

Thank you Andrea for sharing what you love as we all love what you do. Yes I am sad that you will no longer be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator but I can see you will have the best of both worlds now. Thank you for continuing to show us the many ideas you have with the Stampin’ Up! products. Like many others I love your website and look forward to checking it out each time I log on. I think this policy is a little strict. There are very few people that make everything from one company. I applaud your decision. As a long time, 25 plus years, stamper that’s taught and still enjoys her stamps, I can say Stampin Up! company is a great source of supplies but…… are they afraid of compitition or what?
February 8th, 2011 at 12:14 pm
Andrea….ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto for all the above saying “thank you for being you”.
Love this card. Love the colours. Love the layout. Love all you and Sophia do and your marvelous talent(s). Really loving PaperCrafting Library.
Love you Andrea ~ you are a power of example.

I do not understand why SU wants to lose a good “customer” — doesn’t seem like very good business. However, I am extremely happy you continue to share SU project ideas. I’m a hobbyist demo and meet my minimum (plus some!) but need a little nudge with creative inspiration. A BIG THANK YOU to you, Sophia and your team!

Hi Andrea, I do love your card…every card. I too love your style.
You are an inspiration and I appreciate how you have handled this situation. Thank you!
Would you tell me where I can purchase one of the score tools that you have? I have a ScorePal, but I like yours better. Thank you in advance for this information.

Stampin Up has lost a valuable asset! I personally think you should consider being a Close To My Heart Demonstrator! I left SU for the similar reason and have loved the support and assist that I have gotten from CTMH in the year that I have been with them. Best of luck to you and please, please continue your amazing work!!!!

Hi,

I wish you a lot of good things for your future.
Your creations are so lovely.
