“So Glad We’re Friends” card with the Flower Fancy Stamp Set
Posted on: Thursday, August 12th, 2010The color combination for today’s card actually came off of Stampin’ Up!’s new Color Coach, and it’s definitely not a color combo I would naturally have thought to choose. The colors used are Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip. Not that there is anything unusual about pairing green and pink, it’s just that Wild Wasabi is not usually one of my go-to-greens, but toned down with a bit of Whisper White Craft ink…..I really like it!
Here’s how I made this card:
- Cut a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Pink Pirouette CS and fold it in half with a bone folder to create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.
- Cut a 3″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Wild Wasabi CS and dry emboss it with the Elegant Lines embossing folder and the Big Shot.
- Drag a Whisper White Craft ink pad across the Wild Wasabi CS until you get the desired coverage. Set aside to dry.
- Stamp your greeting in Early Espresso Classic ink in the bottom left corner of a 1 3/4″ x 3″ piece of Whisper White CS.
- Stick the stamped Whisper White CS piece to the bottom of the embossed Wild Wasabi CS piece.
- Center and stick the Wild Wasabi / Whisper White CS piece to a 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Early Espresso CS.
- Stick the piece from step 6 onto the Pink Pirouette card front, about 1/4″ away from the right edge.
- Stamp the large flower outline from the Flower Fancy stamp set onto a scrap of Pink Pirouette CS in bAsic Black Classic ink.
- Using a sponge dauber, sponge some Pretty in Pink pastel onto the petals of the flower.
- Cut out the flower as close to the stamped line as possible.
- Stamp the flower one more time onto a scrap of Whisper White CS and color only the center of the flower with a yellow Stampin’ Pastel color and a Q-tip. Cut out just the colored flower center and stick it to the center of the pink flower.
- Stick 4 small and 2 medium clear rhinestones to the center of the flower.
- Stick the flower onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals -so that it covers the seam where the Whisper White CS meets the Wild Wasabi CS, and so that it is centered in betweent the two colors.
- Take a 10″ piece of Early Espresso taffeta ribbon and tie it in a bow. Stick it to the left of the flower, with mini glue dots, so that it covers the remainder of the seam between the Wild Wasabi and Whisper White CS. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

Absolutely love it! Wild Wasabi is actually one of my more favorite SU! greens so I was happy to see it back. It looks great with Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip! Great card.

Very pretty! The wasabi works with that combo. I really wished they would have brought back kiwi instead. I like the white dragged over the embossing, very nice effect.

I love this card! Your embossing looks like the brayer technique and embossing folder. This looks easier and since I don’t have a brayer, I will try this one. Thanks for sharing.
