Silhouette Sentiments Card & Some Winners
Posted on: Thursday, September 9th, 2010Don’t you just love the colors of the designer paper I used for today’s card? I sure do – the blues and the green look so serene. Who would have thought that the paper comes from the Nursery Suite DP collection – a collection of designer paper with a baby theme. That’s one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! – their products are so versatile.
Here’s how I made today’s card:
-
Center and stick a 4″ x 4″ piece of DP to a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Old Olive CS.
-
Center and stick the matted DP to the front of a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ Crumb Cake CS card (formerly called Kraft CS).
-
Place a strip of Sticky Strip across the card, over top of the matted DP, about 1 3/4″ up from the bottom of the card.
-
For the ribbon I used a technique called ribbon ruching. I ruched the ribbon across the first 3″ of the card, and then I laid the ribbon flat for the remainder of the card. It’s a bit difficult to explain this technique but I will have a video on how to do it on my new Paper Crafter’s Library site. If you haven’t already signed up, and you’re interested in more info about this site, you can sign up for my advance notification email list AND receive a free video on creating a ribbon flower by answering one simple survey question.
-
Stamp the silhouette bird image onto a scrap of Whisper White CS in Early Espresso Classic ink. Stamp the greeting underneath also using Early Espresso ink.
-
Punch out the image and greeting using the new extra large decorative label punch.
-
Sponge the edges of the greeting label with Old Olive Classic ink.
-
Thread some CS through the button to create the look of “faux” thread. Stick the button to the left of the image with a mini glue dot.
-
Stick the image to the right of the card, over the flat part of the ribbon with two Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Place some 3mm clear rhinestones at the center of the Baja Breeze diamonds. You’re done!
Supplies used are all Stampin’ Up! unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Silhouette Sentiments, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Early Espresso Classic ink, Old Olive Classic ink
Paper: Crumb Cake CS, Old Olive CS, Whisper White CS, Nursery Suite DP
Accessories: Extra-large Decorative Label punch, Old Olive Satin Ribbon, Sticky Strip, mini glue dots, Brights designer buttons, Stampin’ Dimensionals, bone folder, paper snips, Basic Rhinestones, stamping sponge
Okay and now for some winners……

Just a quick note, if you read that post then you’ll know I’ve also got some of the calendars and note pads for sale. I don’t want to have to keep a lot of those in stock, so I’m pretty much selling out what I have and then they’ll be gone. If you want to make sure you get some then please be sure to put in your order before Sunday. The winners are:

Gorgeous card using that DSP and a special touch with the rhinestones. The ribbon detail adds to the richness of this beauty. The decorative label punch is my top pick in the Holiday Mini. Love this one!

Oh wow! Now I’m going to have to go buy that designer paper, too! Thanks for enabling me once again. Stampin’ Up! surely appreciates it! =)
September 11th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
Thank you for opening my eyes to the endless possibilities for using designer paper for other types of cards other than what the paper says it is for! I seem to get stuck once I read the title of the type of paper it is meant for-thinking outside the box is definately a tricky thing for me to do but plan to work on that! Thanks again for all your hardwork in getting your posts uploaded for the rest of us to see!
September 11th, 2010 at 7:07 pm

September really does get busy with everything starting up again. It sounds like you even have more on your plate than usual to deal with. Have a great trip. Once you get away it will be bliss! Once again lovely class ideas and more supplies I do not have! I will have to go through the catty again and take a closer look at the paper and sets. It is so easy to miss things until you see it else where.
