Pre-Order Your 2012 Calendar & Note Pad Refills & New This Year – Tins! Plus a Give Away
Posted on: Tuesday, August 16th, 2011Over the last several months I’ve been getting a lot of emails asking when the 2012 Calendar and Note Pad Tins and the refills will be back. I’m excited to announce that we are finally ready to take pre-orders!
For those of you unfamiliar with the Calendar and Note Pad tins let me tell you a bit about them. A few years ago I was found that I was alwaysscrambling to find something to write on and write with? Whether it was when I was at home on the phone trying to take a message, or out and about trying to make a note to myself or wanting to check my calendar. Inevitably when that would happen I never seemed to have a calendar or note pad handy!
That’s when I came up with a solution to my problem - a custom-designed Calendar & Note Pad Tin. I wanted something portable, durable, small and of course pretty. I couldn’t find anything like that…so I made it! I started with a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ hinged CD tin and integrated some customized elements to make it a one-of-a-kind gift. Because I didn’t have a “Just a Note” stamp, I designed the ”Just a Note” greeting that you see on the front of the tin on my computer. I then printed it out using a high quality printer onto Very Vanilla CS.
I had the calendar that you see on the inside front cover of the tin custom-made so that it perfectly fit the inside of the tin. The calendars are 4 7/8″ x 4 7/8″. The font used for the months and the date match the font used for the “just a note” on the front of the tin.
As you can see from the picture of the tin above and the picture to the left, I also had some note-pads custom designed to fit insite the tin. The notepads are 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″. There’s 50 sheets on the notepad and the lines are black so they match with any color scheme.
As we did last year, we offering this in several options. Please note that these are ALL pre-orders. Because everything is custom-designed and manufactured, I don’t want to order too many and end up with hoards left over, or too little, and then run out. Orders will start to ship on September 19, 2011 – in the order in which the pre-orders were received.
Different this year – as soon it’s ready – EVERYONE will be receiving the pdf handout on how to create these tins absolutely FREE! So keep your eye here on the blog for that.
There is a lot of info in this post, so please be sure you read it all!
One of the things I do have to give you a heads up about is shipping. As we are located in Canada, the most “cost-effective” option for shipping is Canada Post. I use that term loosly because it’s still not cheap. The only methods of shipping we offer are small packet air (which I don’t really recommend because it is not trackable) and expedited – which is trackable, and the fastest method. We used to offer a small packet surface option, but ran into too many problems with it being waaaaaaay too slow (as in at least 4 weeks to the US), and not trackable.
I do want to assure you that we only charge you what we are charged. We do not mark up shipping. Because we are a small company with small volumes of shipping we don’t qualify for some of those great shipping volume discounts that bigger stores get. If perchance you are overcharged (which we will only know when we start shipping the packages out), we will re-imburse you the difference. For most of you, shipping is probably going to start at about $12. What I have found though is that the more you get, the better the deal. So if you only want one of’s I would recommend ordering as a group (with a friend or a few friends). So please be prepared.
*For Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators wanting to offer this as a class: as we do every year, we will be putting together a cost analysis sheet and suggested pricing if you want to offer this as a class to your customers. If you email us to let us know you are a demonstrator, then we will send it to you once it’s released. The suggested pricing will be assuming that the tins are being made using all SU product of course. I’d love it someone could do me a favour. There are a number of demos that have bought the calendar and note pad bundles every year. I can no longer announce it or let them know on the demo-only boards like Sudsol, and other yahoo groups, so if one of you could let those that might be interested know, I would appreciate it!
So here’s what we have:
Calendar & Note Pad Tin Kit Pre-order - $17.95 CAN These kits include all the supplies needed to make the project shown in the main picture. You’ll receive a pdf handout with the kit and a link to page from which you can view a video on how it’s made.
Calendar Bundle Pre-order - $7 Each bundle has 5 calendars
Note Pad Bundle Pre-order - $7 Each bundle has 5 note pads
Bundle of 5 tins pre-order – $25* Each bundle includs five 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ tins
*Note about the tins: we have had an incredibly difficult time sourcing the tins this year. We’ve searched high and low on the internet and called over a dozen different places that sell them. Everyone is out of stock, and it seems that everyone is waiting for the same ship from China bringing them in, because they’re all telling us that most likely they’ll be here sometime in October. We found a place that will manufacture them for us in whatever quantity we need. The downside of course is that it is more expensive. That’s why we’re putting a pre-order out there to see if there is enough interest. The upside of course is that if you do pre-order them through us, you’re only paying one shipping fee, versus paying shipping for the calendars and notepads, and then separately paying shipping for the tins.
Once again, just a reminder, all items will ship beginning Sept. 19th.
Paper Crafter’s Library Members will be receiving the 2012 calendar templates in pdf form for the Desktop and Calendar Easel project as soon as we have them from the printer. Anyone that purchased the Desktop and Calendar Easel tutorial (or who purchases it any time going forward) will also receive it as soon as it’s ready.
Okay, and now info about the give-away.
I will be giving away the completed Calendar and Note Pad tin to two lucky winners. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment in the comments section of this post. You have until Sept. 12th to enter this give-away. Winner will be announced on Sept. 13th, and the Calender and Note Pad tin will ship on the 19th.

Glad to see there is another use for those tins. I ordered some a few months ago for a kids class (we made magnetic x’s and o’s) and have some left over. This is a great idea!!! Love the paper and lettering. A much nicer way to keep track of information, instead of pieces of paper everywhere.
I got my tins from Effectuality.com.
Keep the great ideas coming!!! I am so glad I found your site.

Lovely, Lovely, Lovely! I wish shipping wasn’t so expensive to US. I know sometimes there are bulk buying groups but I don’t know how to find them. So I went ahead and ordered mine. Maybe some stampers from NM would like to get together and place a large order and save on shipping.

I found the gorgeous design.
I confess that the Google translator did not help me much in translation.
As I understand it you will sell the kit complete with instructions on how to mount and parts from other kits separately. Is that it? haha
I do not even know if it gets too expensive to send to Brazil. But, I was quite interested.
Congratulations on the project I’m sure will be a success.
kisses,
Dani Toscano

I am new to the stamping world and at times a bit overwhelmed. I’m so terribly grateful for all your ideas and especially your videos which is how I found you! As my mother ages and being the oldest sibling I realize keeping the tradition of remembering everyone’s important dates and notifying the siblings will fall to me. This and my current commitment to never buying another card has me trying to find the best portable method to track important dates and keep a craft shopping list so I’m not late with any card. I think you’ve introduced the very project to me. Thank you again and again for all your inspiration!!!
August 17th, 2011 at 7:21 pm

Love the Tin!!! Sorry you had to cancel your trip.
Danielle
August 30th, 2011 at 11:23 am
Hi there. I’ve always admired your calendars and notepad set, and of course, every other part of your creativity. I can’t imagine how disappointing it must have been to cancel your trip – i’ve never been to New York City, but it is on my bucket list. And it seems to me, if you are unable to get in or out of the city, the hotels ought to step up and refund the fee – or perhaps they are not concerned about good will? Anyways, thanks for the chance to win!
August 30th, 2011 at 11:29 am
I’d love to win one – thanks!
August 30th, 2011 at 1:10 pm

August 30th, 2011 at 8:05 pm
Love this project!! I also have a question, as a SU Demo, I’d be interested to offer it in a class, but I’m just wondering if when you do get the tutorial ready, if it will be sized to fit the tins we were able to purchase from SU a few years ago? It mesures, cause I bought a dozen of those & never found anything to do with them, this would be perfect if it was possible. The tins are about 5.5 x 4.75.
Thanks!
August 30th, 2011 at 8:31 pm
