Makeover Monday: Enjoy Your Day Birthday Card
Posted on: Monday, May 3rd, 2010Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Soph and I certainly did! Soph and I had a bit of girl’s weekend in Ottawa. I drove up on Saturday, and met up with Soph. We hung out for awhile at our favourite Christian bookstore (Salem Storehouse), went out to dinner and then simply hung out at our parent’s chatting and catching up. On Sunday we attended a Copic Certification Course. Although this blog of ours is purely Stampin’ Up! product, both of us constantly look for ways to enhance and develop our creative and artistic skills as well as looking for ways to keep current in the paper crafting industry.
The card I “made over” for today’s Makeover Monday feature is one of Maile Bells cards which you can see HERE. I made it over using the designer paper scraps I had left over from Stampin’ Up!’s Happy B-day Simply Scrappin’ Kit. Rater than create a baby card, I decided to adapt the layout for a birthday card. If you’ve been a reader of mine for awhile then you’ll notice that the two types of cards I create most often are Thank You cards and Birthday cards. That’s because those are the two most common reasons I give cards. I figure that since I’m creating, I might as well create things that I need a lot of LOL.
You can download a pdf of today’s handout HERE. I have to say, I really liked the layout of this card. It’s fast, it’s fun and it’s a perfect way to use up all those little DP scraps you’ve been hoarding because you can’t bear to throw them away (ask me how I know LOL)
See you again tomorrow with our Technique Tuesday Post!

Thanks for the ‘scrappy’ card. Maybe I can use some of my paper now. Like so many others, I buy the paper, but don’t use it. It is too pretty! LOL And like you, I love to visit Salem when I’m in Ottawa visiting my sister-in-law. It is a great store.

Great card – simple and striking. I’m interested in seeing how you liked the Copic Certification course. I can’t wait to see what new techniques you come up with now after attending this course. I don’t know if you can carry it over to SU markers (if only we could get those in our colors!!!). Thanks for always providing plenty of inspiration!

Have you tried the technique with using Rubbing Alcohol with SU Markers to get the “look” of copics? “Drunken Watercoloring” by Jody Morrow. It’s amazing how it looks!
