Love You Card Featuring Love Impressions DP and Red Glimmer Paper
Posted on: Monday, January 3rd, 2011Happy New Year everyone! Although it may sound strange to say so, it is so good to be back at “work” …or should I say “play”? I had a wonderfully relaxing holiday and got to spend a lot of time with friends and family. I also got a lot of “sleep-in” time – which is something I haven’t done in YEARS! It felt SO good.
I don’t know about you, but I love January. There’s something about a brand new year that fills me with excitement….and what a year this is going to be. On January 11th I’ll be revealing a very exciting project that has been a year in the making….that’s all I’ll say for now!
The project I’m going to share with you today is a Valentine’s one that I created using some of the new products in Stampin’ Up!’s Occasions Mini Catalogue. Here is how I made the card:
-
Stick a 2 1/4″ x 1/4″ piece of Basic Gray DP to the top of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Basic Gray card.
-
Just underneath, stick a 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Stampin’ Up!’s new red Glimmer Paper.
-
Stick a 2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Stampin’ Up!’s new Love Impressions DP to the top of a scalloped border die cut out of red glimmer paper (using the Big Shot and Tastefully Trim Bigz XL die) so that about 1/2″ of the scalloped border shows at the bottom of the DP.
-
Stick the DP with the scalloped border to the card so that it slightly overlaps the 1/2″ piece of red glimmer paper.
-
Lay a 5 1/2″ piece of Real Red Satin ribbon across the top edge of the DP, bring the ends around to the inside of the card front and stick them down.
-
Tie a bow around the first piece of ribbon with a 12″ piece of Real Red Satin Ribbon. Position the bow towards the left hand side of the card.
-
Cover a heart-shaped piece of chipboard with Real Red CS. Add a rub-on greeting and a red rhinestone.
-
Stick the heart to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Cut two 4″ x 5 1/4″ pieces of Whisper White CS and center and stick them to the inside of the card (the one on the inside of the card front will hide the ribbon ends). You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card!

On Christmas Eve we had the traditional Portuguese supper of boiled cod fish, potatoes, eggs and greens. We dress these in some olive oil and vinegar. My favourite is Christmas day when we have the turkey and all the fixin’s….gotta love that stuffing and the cranberry sauce! We hosted Christmas day at our place this year with a big sit down dinner for 18 people. It was wonderful…..but now I am worn out and I have to build up my strength for the New Year. I can’t wait to see all of your great ideas! Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year Andrea & Sophia!

Family always comes first, especially this time of year. Our sons are grown with their own families and both live a distance away. It has been a long time since we got everyone together on the same day, but we did manage it the Sunday before Christmas. We got to experience about 5 hours before they had to continue on their travels to other parts of the country with other family members. Actually, this was the first Christmas day in 33 years that my husband and I spent without any kids in our house…… believe me, it was different! God did send me the “White Christmas” that I had wanted! With all of the snow, and travel being dangerous, I am enjoying spending time “blog hopping” and planning my Valentine projects. I look forward to seeing what two very talented Canadian friends have created! Happy New Year to both of you!!!

I love your card! Did you use a red rhinestone (from elsewhere) or did you color a SU! rhinestone? If you colored it, how did you color it?
Thanks!
