“Love Life” card with the Cottage Garden stamp set and Sunny Garden DP & some winners!
Posted on: Monday, August 9th, 2010Today’s card is a fun, bright and cheerful card that I made using Stampin’ Up!’s new Cottage Garden stamp set and Sunny Garden DP. Because the DP was already so patterned, I opted to only use the greeting from the Sunny Garden stamp set, rather than any of the images. There just didn’t seem to be room on the card for them. I also used a very easy but effective background inking technique to try and mute the brightness of the Peach Parfait CS which I had texured with my Big Shot and Square Lattice embossing folder.
Here’s how I made the card:
-
Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Whisper White CS and fold it in half using your bone folder to create your card base.
-
Cut a 4″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Peach Parfait CS and run it through your Big Shot using the Square Lattice embossing folder. The embossing with this particular folder will cause the CS to shrink so that it should now measure approx 4″ x 5 1/4″. If it’s not quite there, then trim it so that it measures 4″ x 5 1/4″.
-
Take a Whisper White Craft ink pad and drag it across the embossed Peach Parfait CS. You want the coverage to be kind of patchy. Let dry.
-
Sponge the edges of the inked Peach Parfait CS with Poppy Parade Classic ink and a stamping sponge.
-
Center and stick a 1 1/2″ x 4 1/8″ strip of Poppy Parade patterned DP (from the Sunny Garden DP collection) along the top edge of a 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Poppy Parade CS.
-
Center and stick a 1 1/2″ x 4 1/8″ strip of the floral patterned DP along the bottom edge of the 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Poppy Parade CS.
-
Lay a 5 1/4″ piece of Poppy Parade ribbon across the seam of the DP. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the DP and stick them down using SNAIL adhesive.
-
Center and stick the matted DP piece to the card front.
-
Stamp the greeting from the Cottage Garden stamp set in Basic Black Classic ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS. Punch it out with the wide oval punch.
-
Sponge around the edge of the greeting using a sponge dauber and Poppy Parade Classic ink.
-
Stick the greeting over the ribbon, on the matted DP piece, towards the right edge, with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Thread three coordinating buttons with white embroidery floss and stick them to the card front as shown in the picture above, with mini glue dots. You’re done!

I really like this card. I fell in love with the Cottage Garden paper half way through the last catalog and am already in love with the new colors that they updated it with. The buttons are great. I am still afraid of using buttons on my cards. I guess I am going to have to get over that so my cards and be just as beautiful as yours.
Thanks for sharing!
