“For You” Card featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Clearly For You Stamp Set
Posted on: Monday, April 25th, 2011I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. We drove to Ottawa on Friday morning to visit my parents (my sister Soph and her family also drove there). We drove up in two vehicles – I was with the 5 kids, and my husband was in his car. It was the longest “good weather” drive we’ve ever had! Normally, with little traffic and normal stops, it takes us about 5 hours. On Friday, it took us 7 hours!
About an hour into the drive, Matthew – our 4 year old starting complaining of feeling sick. Not even 2 seconds after handing him a plastic bag “just in case” – he threw up! Thankfully at that point, he pretty much got it all in the bag – but a little on himself. We did pull over in Scarborough to clean him up and then resumed our journey. A few hours later, in Port Hope, he was again complaining of feeling ill again, so we pulled over at a McDonalds. Mine, and my husband’s car were parked side by side. My husband had just taken Matthew out of the van and closed the door, and Matthew threw up – all over himself and Todd – and because it was very windy – all over my van and Todd’s car. It was pretty gross and it took us about an hour to get everyone cleaned up.
Thankfully he was fine for the rest of the weekend, and our drive home on Sunday was pretty uneventful.
Today’s card is a relatively simple one, and I have to tell you – I really struggled with it. Todd has been travelling a LOT recently (in fact he’s gone again this week) and Papa (my grandpa – who usually does all the driving to and from school and activities) is in Florida on vacation. So needless to say, I’m just feeling burnt out – and I feel like it’s affecting me creatively – things are just taking so much longer to come together, and instead of feeling inspired, I just feel plain tired!
I think that once I get the kids in bed, I’m going to go to bed too – and hopefully I’ll feel more inspired and more ready to tackle the day tomorrow!
I’ll update this post with supplies tomorrow as I don’t have my catalogue handy and I’m in the middle of supervising baths and showers LOL.
Have a great night!

Sorry to read about your son. My daughter was one who always had stomach problems…not sure if it was car sickness or traveling but we have a myriad of stories that we now laugh at…
Beautiful card!

The card is great-I am all set to case it! My oldest son traveled with a wastebasket lined with many plastic bags for years. Now, he has to drive or read if he is the passenger-looking out the window makes him ill. Hope everyone in you family is feeling better soon:)

For feeling burned out & being busy, you still manage to produce stunning artwork! I just love this card, it’s gorgeos & the colors work SO well together. Well done!

I find it truly amazing that you can travel with 5 children for 7hrs. and only stay 2nights and return home…I think I would want to stay a week at least especially if there was some car sickness going on(LOL)

I hope your son is feeling better. It was thoughtful of you to take the time to upload this beautiful card for us. I like the use of the windowpane and the spring look. I am sooooo ready for spring!!! Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful card even if you haven’t been feeling creative lately.

I lost my mojo recently as I was just really burnt out. You just cannot force creativity. This card is so nice I am going to finally get the clearly for you set which I have been resisting until now. Hope you get a nice rest and some relaxation away from crafting so you can get back to your usual brilliant self.
Thanks for all the inspiration.

Whoa! If that’s the beautiful art you produce when you’re UNinspired, I’d love to see your work when you ARE inspired! Oh yeah! I can–on your website. That card is gorgeous. I love it!!
Glad your son is OK. I hate it when the kiddos get sick in the car (which has happened more times than I like to think about).
P.S. We drive 20 hours to Minnesota from Baltimore with three kids once a year. That’s why I insisted on the van with the video player with wireless speakers. My hubby once sat in the back with them and watched “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy with them and we made it an hour past Chicago before it was over. I was rocking out to New Wave music on my satellite radio.

I hope you look back and laugh at these memories with your children and husband as I have with our 6 kids over our numerous road trips. They are all grown now and I treasure the memories of the everyday things (even the minor disasters) that made up our life as a family. The card is lovely and you are most kind to post it for us.

I can’t believe you feel you’ve lost some of your creativity! this card’s beautiful; I always enjoy a good early morning chuckle, when you share family tid-bits; kiddos to you for travelling with 5 kids on a 7 hr., 2 day trip; I’m exhausted thinking about it.

Love the card. I think all stampers can relate to losing their mojo. Life has a way of changing things around for us. LOL Hope you get back into your routine soon.
