Fall Gratitude Card & I’m home!

Posted on: Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

I’m home!  I wish I could say it’s good to be back, but that wouldn’t be 100% the truth LOL.  My husband and I had such an amazing time on our Mediterranean Cruise – it ended up being like a second honeymoon. It was the perfect way to celebrate our 15 years of marriage and 20 years of being together this past summer.  I did take a TON of pictures (at least 4000 LOL), so I will have more details to share with you later on this week or weekend, but as we just got home this weekend and then launched into celebrating the Canadian Thanksgiving – I haven’t even had a chance to look at the photos, let alone edit some to upload and share with you.

We did miss the kids an awful lot, and from that perspective I am happy to be back, but that’s probably the only reason.  It was like a little piece of heaven – not just because of where we were and the things we did, but most of all for the total relaxation and lack of stress.  We couldn’t have worked even if we wanted to – the internet connection was super expensive, super slow and super unreliable.  Hence, since there was nothing work-related would could do, we were able to relax 100% without guilt.  Now that I’m back home and back in the midst of the whirlwind of daily life, I’m finding it really hard to adjust.  My husband jokingly made the following comment over dinner the other night: “3500 on board the ship and it was quieter”.  Oh so true LOL!

Today I wanted to share with you a fall card I created using some of the fun new products in the Holiday Mini Catalogue.  Here’s how I made the card:

  1. Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Very Vanilla CS and fold it in half using a bone folder to create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.
  2. Sponge the edges of the Very Vanilla card front with More Mustard and a very slight touch of the Cajun Craze Classic inks, using a wedge of a stamping sponge. Set aside for a moment.
  3. Ink up the En Francais greeting in Chocolate Chip Classic ink.  Stamp it off once onto a piece of scrap paper and then stamp it onto a 3 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly Kraft CS).
  4. Sponge the edges of the stamped Crumb Cake CS piece in More Mustard Classic ink, using a wedge of a stamping sponge.
  5. Center and stick the stamped Crumb Cake CS piece onto a 4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Cajun Craze CS.
  6. Lay a 5 1/2″ piece of Early Espresso Satin ribbon across the matted Crumb Cake CS, about 3/4″ up from the bottom edge, bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and then stick them down using SNAIL adhesive.
  7. Tie a 10″ piece or Early Espresso Satin Ribbon in a bow around the first piece of ribbon – positioning it towards the right edge of the CS.
  8. Thread an 8″ piece of Linen thread through a Cajun Craze button and tie a small loop at the top.  Thread a second 4″ piece of linen thread through the button and simply let the ends hang down.
  9. Stick the button to the center of the bow with a couple of mini glue dots.  Trim the ends of the linen thread.  Set aside for a moment.
  10. Stamp the letter G onto a mini vintage tag in Early Espresso Classic ink.  Thread the tag onto a mini vintage safety pin (from the vintage trinkets collection). Attach the pin to the little loop you created in the linen thread of the button so that the tag hangs.
  11. Stamp the greeting from the Day of Gratitude stamp set onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS in Early Espresso Classic ink.  Punch it out with the Decorative Label punch.
  12. Sponge the edges of the punched greeting with More Mustard Classic ink. Place some SNAIL adhesive at the back of the greeting, slide it slightly behind the bow and stick it to the Crumb Cake CS.
  13. Stamp the leaf from the Paisley Prints stamp set onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS in More Mustard Classic ink. Cut it out.
  14. Clean the stamp and then stamp it again in Cajun Craze Classic ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS. Cut it out.
  15. Stick the leaves to the card front, behind the top left corner of the greeting label with SNAIL adhesive.
  16. Center and stick the matted and decorated Crumb Cake CS piece to the Very Vanilla card front – about 1/2″ in from the left edge – with SNAIL adhesive.

You’re done!
