Creepy Crawly Halloween 2007 card

As soon as the kids are back to school, the weather starts cooling down and the leaves start turning colors, I find that my mind turns to the upcoming fall holidays – Thanksgiving and Halloween.  I hadn’t planned on starting Halloween projects for at least another week, but after my Back to School Class yesterday, the mom’s started asking me whether I was planning a kid’s class for Halloween – my answer?  Of course!  That got me thinking about Halloween, and I just had to pull out my Batty for You  stamp set. from Stampin’ Up!’s Fall/Winter 2007 Collection.  It was brand new, still unmounted, just begging to be used. Of course, I had to oblige (LOL).  I decided to try out one of the Cami Tri-Fold cards (a style of card designed by Cambria Turnbow).  I came across a tutorial for this style of card on Beate John’s blog and decided to give it a try as a Halloween card.  This is what I came up with.  I have to tell you, I don’t often toot my horn about things I make, but I absolutely love how this card turned out! The designer paper is from Stampin’ Up!’s Creepy Crawly collection.  It has such an awesome assortment of patterns! On the outside of the card I stamped the spider web from the Web Wishes stamp set (which unfortunately retired in July – but I’m hanging on to mine!).  I stamped it in black on the Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I then punched a circle in the center panel of the cardstock (which is my card front) using my  1 3/8″ circle punch . To create the scalloped frame, I took the same circle punch and punched a circle into a scrap of black cardstock.  I then took my scallop punch (this is definately a gotta have) and framed it around the circle and punched it out. I adhered it to the front of the card so that it framed the circle I had previously punched out using my 2-way glue pen.  On the bottom right of the card front I stamped the greeting in black ink using a stamp from the All Holidays stamp set. On the inside of the card I punched out a black scalloped circle, stamped the spider from Batty for You once on pumpkin pie, punched it out using the 1 3/8″ circle punch, stamped it again on white, punched out the spider with a 1″ circle punch, then mounted the spider onto the pumpkin with a Stampin’ Dimensional, and then finally onto the black scalloped circle.  Other accessories used are the Slit Punch and Black Grosgrain ribbon.  To see exactly how the window is created and the placement of the image on the inside of the card, how it folds, how to create the base, check out Beate’s tutorial which I linked above. All supplies are Stampin’ Up!.  Thanks for looking!

Love this card, the spider web with the image inside. You have every right to toot your own horn, this card is fantastic.
