Wish Big Birthday Card
Posted: Monday, August 22nd, 2011 | CommentsHappy Monday everyone! What’s there to be happy about? Well, I’m on a countdown. My husband and I (no kids!) are planning a 4 day getaway to New York City and we leave this Sunday am! Every year, Phillips, one of the manufacturer’s that Wesco (the company my husband works for) deals with has an incentive. Last year my husband earned a $3000 travel voucher which we applied to our 12 Mediterranean Cruise. This year, he earned a $1500 voucher which was just enough to cover our hotel for 5 nights – LOL (New York City is expensive!). We’re taking the train there on Sunday, we then have 4 days to spend in the city and we’re coming home on Friday. Even though the train ride is about 13 hours, I’m pretty excited about the whole thing because I’ve never travelled that long by train, and we both get to relax, and read and just spend time together. Whereas if you drive, the person driving gets pretty tired.
We’re planning on getting 4 days of Hop on and Hop off double decker bus passes, and then a 3 day New York City pass which gives us admittance into about 40 different attractions (we choose which ones we want to go on). We’re also planning on taking in a Broadway show – Mary Poppins – one of my favourite movies since I was a kit. Other things we’re hoping to do include visit the Statue of Liberty (I’d love to go to the top), the Empire State building, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central park, Ground Zero, Wall Street, etc. etc.
If any of you guys have been (or better yet – live there) I’d love to know if there are any great restaurants or other things you guys think are “must-do’s”.
Today’s project is actually one that I created and posted for Paper Crafter’s Library a few weeks ago. The whole flag theme kind of falls along the lines of my love of pennants and banners. I created the flags out of stirps of patterned paper which I wrapped around toothpicks. I then used them as part of the focal point of my card. All supplies are listed at the bottom of this post.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to enter into our draw for the 2012 Calendar and Note Pad tins – and if you’re interested, don’t forget to pre-order your bundles. All the information is in this post.
At this point in time, I’m only planning on continuing the pre-order until Sept. 12th and they are due to ship out starting the week of Sept. 19th. When I place my order with the printer, I’ll probably order a few extra but not huge amounts since they are time sensitive (given that they are dated). Once they are gone, they’ll be gone until 2013.
Oh, and one other piece of news, I should have the free video and tutorial on how to make the calendar tins up either tomorrow or the day after. The video and handout will be for the tin using all SU product.

Posted: Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 | CommentsI have to say that I am loving this cute “I Dig You” Stamp set! It is perfect for any little (0r big) boy on your list. I wanted to prepare something for next year when my little guy turns 6. He has been going around insisting to everyone that he is 6, when the reality is that he is only 5. So obviously this will be a highly anticipated birthday, and I willl be all ready when the moment is here.
I wanted to create some movement with my digger, and I wanted to covey the idea of un-covering a new year. I think it turned out perfect! Both fun and easy to do. The video will be found in the library later this week.

Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch Birthday Card – Video Tutorial & pdf Handout
Posted: Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 | CommentsDo you know that I’ve owned both of Stampin’ Up!’s Triple Layer punches since the first day we could pre-order them, and I hadn’t used them until today? Isn’t that awful? I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a very serious case of the ”need it now” affliction….
….but only with art & craft supplies. I see a gorgeous pair of shoes, or a stunning outfit, I can turn the other cheek. But a new punch? stamp set? color medium? embellishment? I whip out my credit card faster than you can say “charge it”.
So, I’ve decided that I’m going on a mission. Every week, I’m going to pull out something I’ve owned for awhile and I’m going to create with it. AND, I’m going to refrain from shopping……well, maybe not the latter. THAT would be too much, too soon LOL. But moderation. That will be my new mantra…..moderation…..moderation……moderation……is it working? I guess we’ll see.
Today I thought I’d share with you all a video tutorial and pdf handout for a card I created Stampin’ Up!’s Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch. I have to say, I really like this punch. I think the concept of being able to get three coordinating images out of one punch is totally cool!
Watch the video below:
Oh, and here’s a fun little picture I thought I’d share with you of my second youngest – Matthew. In the afternoons while the three oldest are at school and the youngest is napping, Matthew likes to come down to my office and play while we work. He’s been fighting a fever since last Wednesday night, and has been quite crabby, but he refuses to “officially” nap. He’s been refusing to nap since he was 3. If you put him down to nap he plays, or cries, or wanders out of his room. However, if you get him staying still long enough, at least a few times a week he’ll fall asleep.
Today was one of those days. He brought his Playmobile into the office to play with, lay down to “arrange” his guys and promptly fell asleep.
That’s all for now!

Posted: Tuesday, May 17th, 2011 | CommentsPosts have been kind of sporadic here lately – I apologize for that. It’s just been one thing after another. A few weeks ago I hired a virtual assistant so of course as with any job, there’s a lot of training that needs to go on. I also recently contracted a few video editors for Paper Crafter’s Library – so that alone, between the job posting, interviewing and training is taking up a lot of time.
I had some major electrical work done in my home office – re-distributing some of the electrical load, adding some new dedicated outlets and improving lighting. We also added a third room to our set up here. I have our studio where we do all of our design work, an office where myself and two-employees work, and now the third room – a video studio which is where we now do all of our filming.
Then on Saturday we had a minor flood in my studio when the main water pipe coming into the house sprung a leak. Thank heavens it didn’t do more damage! So of course that had to be fixed.
Finally, on Sunday we picked up our new addition to the family – a little puppy we named Ginger. She’s absolutely adorable! She’s a little Pom-Poo (a cross between a Pomeranian and a Toy Poodle). So that’s been a bit of an ajustment LOL! (a good one though).
Anyways, on to today’s project. I created this card using Stampin’ Up!’s Aviary stamp set. I really wanted to have a greeting with a bird pun in it, but didn’t have any, so I created a bunch of them - and then decided to put it into a pdf format for all of you as well!
For those of you that have been asking, there will be a video for the super cute Mushroom On A Log Treat Holder in the Paper Crafter’s Library- it will be posted this week.

A Creative Way To Use Your Patterned Paper Scraps – A Video Tutorial
Posted: Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 | Comments
Today’s card is a fantastic way to use up all those itty bitty pieces of patterned paper that you’ve been saving. How do I know you’ve been saving them? Well, most of us paper crafters seem to be hoarders and savers at heart. How can we possibly throw even the teeniest piece away when we might just need it? So if you’re like me, then I KNOW you’ve got some.
The inspiration for this card came from THIS one that was created by Maille Bells. I just re-created it in a standard-sized card (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″). It’s SO easy to change up – simply pick out your patterned paper pieces (and you can use two to four different patterns), and then choose a color of CS that coordinates with your patterned paper to create the base of the card. I chose the Basic Black CS to accent the black ink that I used for the greeting.
The great thing about this card is that it’s an under 10 minute card – more like 5 or 6 minutes to make.

I’ll be posting the winners of the Beyond the Garden Class shortly, and you’ll find it in a post BELOW this one.
Supplies I used:
Stamps: Birthday Bash Sentiments
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Paper: Pumpkin Pie CS, Basic Black CS, Whisper White CS, Sweet and Sour Specialty DP (Stampin’ Up!)
Accessories: Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Big Shot, Stampin’ Dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); double-sided adhesive (Thermo web); Corner Chomper (We Are Memory Keepers)
