Happy Easter Card Video Tutorial
Posted: Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 | CommentsToday I thought I’d share an Easter Card I created for the Paper and Pixels online crafting magazine. The card features a paper pieced background to create this sunburst pattern. The papers come from the Echo Park Springtime collection, as do the focal point images. The Black polka dot scalloped ribbon is from Stampin’ Up!’ and the greeting is from Papertrey Ink. I used American Crafts Thickers for the word “Happy”, and The “Easter” greeting was actually a straight clear polymer stamp which I curved and then placed on the acrylic block.
You can download a PDF handout for the card, the Sunburst Template ( for the paper pieced background) and watch a video tutorial from HERE.
Happy Halloween Spider Card
Posted: Monday, October 3rd, 2011 | CommentsI don’t know about you all, but I just love Halloween. We’re not one of those families that go all out and decorate our house for Halloween or throw Halloween parties, but we enjoy taking the kids out trick or Treating, and I enjoy creating all sorts of nifty Halloween projects. We’ve got a whole bunch of them planned over the next few weeks. Today’s card is a quick and easy one using the supplies listed below. I have to say, Stampin’ Up!’s spider paper from the Frightful Sight collection is just too cute! When I saw it, I immediately knew that it would go perfectly with my glittered spider stickers from Jolee’s Boutique.
Stamps: 2009 Halloween Tags (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko)
Paper: Rich Razzleberry CS, Cajun Craze CS, Basic Black CS, Whisper White CS; Frightful Sight DP (Stampin’ Up!)
Accessories: Limitless Layers 1 ¾” Circles die set (Papertrey Ink); Glitter Spiders (Jolees boutique); 1 ¾” circle punch (Stampin’ Up!); Craft Thread (Michael’s)
Sweets For The Sweet
Posted: Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 | CommentsToday’s card was designed with sweet lovers in mind! This card is glossy, and sparkly, and has such a fun pattern to set off this whole design. The candies have a thick glossy coating to simulate the hard candy of the lollipop. This coating was achieved with lots of layers of UTEE, and this of course after I shaded and colored the candy using a direct to rubber technique.
The letters come from a retired Quickutz alphabet, and are easily replaced with any die cut, or digital cutting machine. The stickles on top give a nice sugar coated look. This card is perfect for anyone on your list, be they young or old! Paper Crafter’s Library members can access the video from THIS LINK (you have to be logged in to see it). Not a member? If you haven’t already, don’t forget to enter into our draw for the 2012 Calendar and Note Pad tins – and if you’re interested, don’t forget to pre-order your bundles. All the information is in this post.
At this point in time, I’m only planning on continuing the pre-order until Sept. 12th and they are due to ship out starting the week of Sept. 19th. When I place my order with the printer, I’ll probably order a few extra but not huge amounts since they are time sensitive (given that they are dated). Once they are gone, they’ll be gone until 2013.
We are also continuing with the pre-order of the 36 yard roll of Sticky Strip. For more information click HERE.
Flower Friend Card
Posted: Wednesday, August 24th, 2011 | CommentsThank you all so much for the fabulous tips about New York. As each day passes I’m getting more and more excited! Of course I’m also kind of stressed because there is so much to think about and so much to get ready. Being self-employed of course, there is also the stress of making sure that everything that needs to get done ahead of time is ready to go. Apparently the “boutique” hotel we are staying at has terrible internet connection – I guess that’s what happens when you book last minute (as in last week) – all the really good places are gone LOL. That means that to stay connected we’ll need to either find an internet cafe or a Starbucks – I’d prefer the Starbucks!
Today’s card is one that was created by Tracy – one of the fabulous girls on my Sunny Stampin’ Team
! This is another project that was featured in the Paper Crafter’s Library within the last few weeks. It’s probably one of my favourite cards that Tracy’s made because it features some of my favorite elements: newsprint paper, machine-stitching and rhinestones, and of course one of my favourite punches – Stampin’ Up!’s Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch.

Wish Big Birthday Card
Posted: Monday, August 22nd, 2011 | CommentsHappy Monday everyone! What’s there to be happy about? Well, I’m on a countdown. My husband and I (no kids!) are planning a 4 day getaway to New York City and we leave this Sunday am! Every year, Phillips, one of the manufacturer’s that Wesco (the company my husband works for) deals with has an incentive. Last year my husband earned a $3000 travel voucher which we applied to our 12 Mediterranean Cruise. This year, he earned a $1500 voucher which was just enough to cover our hotel for 5 nights – LOL (New York City is expensive!). We’re taking the train there on Sunday, we then have 4 days to spend in the city and we’re coming home on Friday. Even though the train ride is about 13 hours, I’m pretty excited about the whole thing because I’ve never travelled that long by train, and we both get to relax, and read and just spend time together. Whereas if you drive, the person driving gets pretty tired.
We’re planning on getting 4 days of Hop on and Hop off double decker bus passes, and then a 3 day New York City pass which gives us admittance into about 40 different attractions (we choose which ones we want to go on). We’re also planning on taking in a Broadway show – Mary Poppins – one of my favourite movies since I was a kit. Other things we’re hoping to do include visit the Statue of Liberty (I’d love to go to the top), the Empire State building, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central park, Ground Zero, Wall Street, etc. etc.
If any of you guys have been (or better yet – live there) I’d love to know if there are any great restaurants or other things you guys think are “must-do’s”.
Today’s project is actually one that I created and posted for Paper Crafter’s Library a few weeks ago. The whole flag theme kind of falls along the lines of my love of pennants and banners. I created the flags out of stirps of patterned paper which I wrapped around toothpicks. I then used them as part of the focal point of my card. All supplies are listed at the bottom of this post.

Oh, and one other piece of news, I should have the free video and tutorial on how to make the calendar tins up either tomorrow or the day after. The video and handout will be for the tin using all SU product.
