A Country Christmas with Stampin’ Up!’s Shimmer Paint

Stampin' Up! Country Christmas

I’m not sure if this really qualifies for a Country Christmas but whenever I see gingham I think “Country” *lol*.  I want to thank all of you that took the time to leave a comment on the World Card Makers Tour post yesterday.  I have to tell you that I’m still riding high!   If you didn’t leave a comment there’s still time because comments close on the 4th of Oct. and then winners will be announced on the 6th of Oct.

Today’s card features Stampin’ Up!’s shimmer paints mixed with reinkers.  This is a technique that you’ve seen me do several times before in the last few weeks, but I love the effect so much that I decided to use it on this card.  To see exactly how I made the card you can check out the video below:

Directions:

  1. Sponge the edges of a 3″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White CS in Old Olive Classic ink.  Stamp the greeting in the top right corner in Basic Black Classic ink.
  2. Mix a couple of drops of reinker with about 3 drops of Frost White Shimmer paint in the well of a plastic artist’s palette.  use a sponge dauber to pick up your shimmery olive color and apply it to the tree stamp from Stampin’ Up!’s patterned pines level 1 hostess stamp set (from the Holiday Mini Catalogue).
  3. Stamp the trees onto the 3″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White CS.  Set aside to dry.
  4. Sponge the edges of a 3-3/4″ x 5″ piece of Merry Moments DP with Old Olive Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge.  Center and mat it onto a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Real Red card front.
  5. Take a 1″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Old Olive CS (I used a scrap of textured Old Olive), and scallop one edge using the Scallop Edge punch.
  6. Lay a 5-1/2″ piece of red gingham ribbon across the Old Olive CS strip, bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back and stick them down using Snail adhesive
  7. Center the Whisper White CS piece along the right edge of the card and stick it to the card front.  Stick on the Old Olive CS strip so that it slightly overlaps the left edge of the Whisper White CS piece.
  8. Tie a 10″ piece of red gingham ribbon in a bow around the first piece. Position it at the top of the Old Olive CS strip.
  9. “Faux” thread a large Old Olive button and a small Real Red button from Stampin’ Up!’s Playground Designer button collection with a coordinating sliver of CS.  Stick the buttons to the card using mini glue dots.  You’re done!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up for my FREE 12 weeks of Christmas in the top right corner of my sidebar.

So Sweet! :) TGIF to you and I have issues making bows as well… are you a lefty? I am and I think that is what causes it for me as my bows always end up the opp. way so what I do is always tie the bow with the card up side down…and it seems to help :)

Once again you shimmer with your cards. I just got my first bottle and can’t wait to use it this weekend. Red gingham reminds me of my grandmother kitchen curtains… love it.
