Thinking of You Card with the Woodland Walk DP & Growing Green Stamp Set

Today I wanted to share a card with you that I created using the Woodland Walk DP and the Growing Green stamp set.  My feelings towards this DP have been through a real evolution.  When I first saw it in the catalogue, I thought it was absolutely stunning, and it immediately went on my “have to buy” list.  When I actually received the DP though, I was quite disappointed.  It looked so…..green.  The primary green used in this designer paper collection is Garden Green – probably the least used green that I own. I still have 3/4 of the first package of Garden Green cardstock I bought 4 years ago – which goes to show you how much I like it *lol*.

Now one of the ways I work on developing my creativity and artistic skills is to force myself to use products that I may not necessarily like.  In fact, sometimes I deliberatly buy things that are “not my style” to see what I can come up with.

As I started working on this card, I was actually quite surprised to find that I did like the DP after all.  I’m actually tickled pink with how this card turned out.  Here’s how I made it:

  1. Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Crumb Cake CS and fold it in half with your bone folder to create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.  Set aside for a moment.
  2. Center and stick a 3 3/4″ x 3″ piece of the Woodland Walk DP along the top of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Early Espresso CS.
  3. Center and stick a 2″ x 3 3/4″ piece of textured Very Vanilla CS along the bottom of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Early Espresso CS.  The Very Vanilla CS will overlap the DP.
  4. Lay a 5″ piece of Early Espresso Satin Ribbon across the seam between the Very Vanilla CS and the DP.  Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down with SNAIL adhesive.
  5. Center and stick the matted DP to the Crumb Cake card front with SNAIL adhesive.
  6. Stamp the greeting from the Whimsical Words stamp set in Early Espresso Classic ink onto the Very Vanilla CS, towards the left side of the CS. Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
  7. Tie a 12″ piece of Early Espresso Satin ribbon in a bow around the first piece of ribbon. Slide the bow towards the right side of the card.
  8. Stamp the rose (I think that’s what kind of a flower it is) onto a piece of watercolor paper with Timber Brown Staz On ink.  Color it in using an aquapainter and Crumb Cake Classic ink.
  9. Add some highlights to the lines of the flower with the buttermilk Atyou Spica pen.
  10. Cut out a few leaves from a scrap of the same DP used on the card.  Stick them to the back of the flower so that they are peeking out a little, using mini glue dots.
  11. Stick the flower to the right of the greeting on the Very Vanilla CS using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  You’re done!

Well I hope you enjoyed today’s card!

Cheers to You

Well the house is finally starting to come together, and my studio area is looking good, except for the fact that it looks like a bomb went off.  That though is normal for me when I am working.  It does not matter how organized I have my supplies, or how much space I have to work, it still always looks like a disaster when I am in the midst of creation lol.  Anyway, I have been creating whenever I have a free moment, and have a couple of cards to share with you next week :)     I have been experimenting with other styles, and decided to go with something super distressed, while showing off the bright colours and white rim of the fun summer drink image.  I am happy with how it turned out, but then distressing always makes me happy.

Supplies:

  1. Stamps:  Cheers to You, Many Happy Returns (retired), Boatloads of Love (retired)
  2. Ink:  Old Olive, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, Staz-On black ink
  3. Paper:  Certainly Celery,Cookie Crumb, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla, Newsprint DP
  4.  Accessories:  Paper Snips, Scallop Edge punch, Snail, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Watercolour paper, re-inkers, Aqua Painter, Clear Rhinestone adhesive, 2-way glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Stamping Sponges, brown marker.

Directions:

  1. Stamp out your drink and cloud (from Boatloads of Love) on watercolour paper using black Staz-On ink. Colour it in With your re-inkers and Aqua painter.  Cut out and then glitter the drink portion using your 2-way glue pen and some Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
  2. Stamp out your sentiment on a paper made to fit. Stamp it out with Close to Cocoa and sponge the edges with Really Rust and Close to Cocoa.  Add some free hand doodling with a brown fine tip marker. mat it on Close to Cocoa which is 1/4″ bigger.  Set aside.
  3.  Cut a Cookie Crumb CS 1/4″ smaller than your Card front and scallop the bottom.  Cut your Newsprint DP a 1/4″ smaller and scallop its bottom.  Distress the edges with your scissors. Mat it on to the Cookie Crumb CS and then sponge the two of them with Really Rust and Close to Cocoa.
  4. Take a piece of Certainly Celery CS (1 1/2″ x 4″)  and scallop the bottom.  Sponge with Old Olive.  Stick it to the back of the Cookie Crumb and Newsprint mat. Stick this mat to the card front.
  5.  Stick your sentiment to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Add two Rhinestones to either side.  Stick your images to the front of the card using dimensionals.  You are done!

Well I hope you enjoyd today’s card, and I look forward t seeing you all next week.

Hugs,

Extreme Skateboard Birthday Card

Today’s card is perfect for a pre-teen or teen boy’s birthday.  In fact, I think I may give this one to my son who will be turning 12, instead of the one I made a few months ago.  That’s the beauty of making cards in advance – I have lots of time to change my mind

Here’s how I made the card:

  1. Cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pacific Point CS and fold it in half using your bone folder.  Round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
  2. Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly called Kraft CS) and round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
  3. Ink up the Sanded background stamp with Crumb Cake Classic ink and stamp it onto the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake CS. Set it aside for a moment.
  4. Cut a 2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DP from the Celebrations DP collection and stick it to the Crumb Cake CS piece, about 1/4″ up from the bottom edge of the CS.
  5. Lay a 7″ piece of 1/4″ Real Red Grosgrain ribbon across the Crumb Cake CS so that it covers the seam of the DP.  Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down with SNAIL adhesive.
  6. Center and stick the Crumb Cake CS piece to the Pacific Point card front with SNAIL adhesive.
  7. Cut a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Whisper White CS and round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
  8. Stamp the Extreme Skateboarder image towards the top of the Whisper White CS piece in Pacific Point Classic ink.
  9. Stamp the greeting from the On Your Birthday stamp set in Basic Black Classic ink, just beneath the image.
  10. Sponge the edges of the Whisper White CS piece with a sponge dauber and Pacific Point Classic ink.
  11. Stick the Whisper White CS piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Position it so that it is about 3/4″ away from the right edge of the Crumb Cake CS.
  12. Stick two buttons to the left of the image and one button to the right of the image using mini glue dots.
  13. Take a 4″ piece of Real Red Grosgrain ribbon and tie it in a single knot.  Stick it to the existing piece of Real Red Grosgrain ribbo with a mini glue dot.  You’re done!

Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

Just Believe Card & the Winners of the Class & Workshop Give-Away

My new stamps are in the house!  Woohoo!  I have been having an absolutely AMAZING time creating with all my new stuff.  In the last day and half I’ve been in a real stampin’ groove. It’s amazing how creativity starts flowing when you have new stuff to play with *LOL*.

Now instead of struggling to come up with card ideas, I’m having the opposite problem – I can’t stamp fast enough to keep up with all my ideas *lol*!  At least you know I’ll have LOTS to share with you over the next few weeks.

Today’s card is a clean & simple card.

  1. Take a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly Kraft CS) and fold it half with your bone folder.
  2. Scallop the bottom edge of the card with the Scallop Edge Border punch.
  3. Stamp the large silhouette flower stamp in Very Vanilla Craft ink across a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Riding Hood Red CS. Set aside to dry.
  4. Die cut the the label out of Very Vanilla CS using a Big Shot and the longest die from the Matbook Bigz XL die.
  5. Stamp the greeting from Occasional Quotes (Level 3 hostess set) onto the Very Vanilla CS label in Basic Black Classic ink.  Use your Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
  6. Stick a medium cream half-back pearl on either side of the label using a mini glue dot for each (the pearls are from the Pretties kit – which is now unfortunately retired).
  7. Center and stick the stamped Riding Hood Red CS piece to the Crumb Cake card front.
  8. Take a 7″ piece of Chantilly 1/2″ Crochet Trim and lay it across the bottom of the Riding Hood Red CS.  Bring the ends of the trim around to the inside of the card front and stick them down.  Hide the ends of the ribbon by cutting a 3 1/2″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Very Vanilla CS and centering & sticking it on the inside of the card front.  Stick a second piece on the inside of the card.
  9. Stick your label to the Riding Hood Red CS with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Position it about 1/4″ above the trim and about 3/4″ in from the right edge of the card.  You’re done!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!

The winners of the Serene Sunset Workshop Planner and the Watercolor Trio Class:

I’ve really got to stop designating Friday’s as the day that my winners are announced and move them to Monday’s.  Somehow by the end of the week there are so many little things that I need to wrap up before the weekend starts that announcing winners completely slips my mind.  So I apologize.  And from now on, Monday’s will be the day.

As a quick refresher, I am announcing the winners for the products shown in THIS post.

The five winners announced below win a copy of BOTH.  To claim your prize please email me at andrea@sunnystampin.com.  Be sure to state that you are the July Blog Winner, and please let me know in the body of your email whether you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator or not.

And the winners are…….

Hi Andrea & Sophia! Love the preview tease of the Serene Sunset workshop planner (great name, btw) and the Watercolor Trio Class Planner is great! It’s great that you offer this service to demos – I’ve ordered a few in the past, some just for me, others to share with my set of stampers. Having all of the directions, suggestions, cost breakdowns really is helpful! I’d love to win this month’s set of projects (keeping my fingers crossed…).

Monkey Birthday

Phew!  The summer is lots of fun, but very busy!!  There is always lots of running around, but with vacation coming up soon, it means that the work load is fairly heavy.  In order to shut down, we have to make sure that we are not going to be playing to much catch up when we get back.  Either way though, it was nice to take some time off to do a fun card.  I love coloring, and find it very relaxing, so this image was perfect for my needs.  I know that this monkey is something of a Love or Hate image for most of you.  For me, I love it, and my youngest son actually has his own sock monkey which was gifted to him.  I happen to think that it is quite adorable!!  I was especially excited to see an extension in his accessories in the new catalogue.  I won’t bother listing the directions because it is pretty easy to figure out by looking, but I will list the supplies, and as soon as I find my drafting templates, I will do a short video on how you can do your own frames.

Supplies:

  1. stamps:  Sock Monkey, and a clear stamp for frame which was gifted by a friend (will show how to make when I find templates)
  2. Ink:  Pacific Point and Early Espresso Classic ink, Black Staz-On, Variety of markers
  3. Paper:  Cool Carribean (retired), Early Espresso CS, Watercolour paper, Newsprint DP
  4. accessories:  Stampin’ Dimensionals, Glue Dots (for buttons), Snail Adhesive, Paper Snips, Stamping Sponges, Linen Thread, Aqua Painter, Black marker for stitching, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Masking paper (post it notes), Dazzling Diamonds, Crystal Effects (for Banana), buttons from button jar

Hugs,
