Easter Lollipop Centrepiece

Today’s tutorial is on how to create this cute Easter table centrepiece. I went to the dollar store (Dollarama) and found some colorful Easter lollipops shaped like eggs with a pattern on each.
While lollipop covers are nothing new, I added my own little twist to it ! Instead of spending all sorts of time decorating the outside of a traditional lollipop cover, since the lollipops were so pretty, I decided I wanted them to be the highlight of the centrepiece. I chose complimentary colors of my Prints Series DP for the actual colors, because I felt that the subtle patterns would offset the lollipops nicely. I created an oval "window" on both the front and back panels of each lollipop holder, but because the lollipops are already packaged in a cellophane-type wrapping, I didn’t have to worry about adding a piece of acetate on my windows. The top was tied shup with narrow white grosgrain ribbon.
This size of lollipop holder will accomodate the vast majority of the flat type lollipops. You could adapt the window if the lollipop were round by using the circle coluzzle template.
Supplies & Dimensions:
- Easter Lollipops
- Paper: Prints Series DP (Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Almost Amethyst) cut at 2 1/4" x 5 7/8" each
- Accessories: 5 1/2" narrow white grosgrain ribbon, coluzzle oval template, coluzzle mat, coluzzle cutting blade, paper snips, paper trimmer with scoring blade, 1/8" circle handheld punch
Step-by-Step Tutorial
Step 1: Take your 2 1/4" x 5 7/8" piece of DP, score at 2 3/4" and 3 1/8". Crease along score lines, make a small pencil mark in the very centre, between the score lines – you will punch this out using the 1/8" circle handheld punch.

Step 2: Once your centre hole is punched out (this is for the stick of the lollipop) use your double hole punch (you can also use your same 1/8" handheld circle punch) and punch two holes for the ribbon in the centre of one end of the CS as shown.

Step 3: Align both ends of the lollipop holder as shown, where your circular holes are, use your double circle punch to punch through the second layer (you can only punch through one layer of paper at a time with this punch).

Step 4: Lay your lollipop cover onto the coluzzle foam mat. Align your oval coluzzle template on it in the following manner (see picture): You want the bottom of the THIRD oval from the inside aligned on top of the small hole you punched for your lollipop stick. You want the left and right sides of the FOURTH oval from the inside aligned with the left and right sides of the CS. You are going to cut out the SECOND oval from the inside using your cutting blade.

Step 5: Your lollipop cover will now look like this.

Step 6: If your lollipop has a lot of extra wrapper around it like the pink lollipop below, then trim off as much as you can without actually trimming open the whole packaging (see the blue lollipop).

Step 7: Slide your lollipop stick through the small centre hole, bring up the sides of the cover and hold shut with a 5 1/2" piece of white grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot.

Step 8: Place some floral foam inside your little pail. Make sure it is about 3-4" taller than the top edge of the pail. Using a sharp knife, cut it so that it has "tiers" – this will help give your lollipops varying heights. It’s going to look ugly, but don’t worry because it will be covered. Using a hot glue gun, glue some Easter grass all over the floral foam so that it is completely covered.

Step 9: Insert the lollipops – you’re done!
