Holiday Blitz Day 23: Top Note Nugget Wrap Tutorial…& another winner!
Posted on: Monday, December 15th, 2008
For today’s project I thought I’d show you another way of using Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive Top Note die (can you tell I’m a little addicted to it *lol*?) I call this project a Top Note Nugget Wrap – pretty original name don’t you think? I never have been good at coming up with creative names for things!
To re-create this project you’ll need the following supplies (all Stampin’ Up!):
Stamps: Curly Label Bundle
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Whisper White CS, Frosty Day DP
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Big Shot, Top Note die, 1″ double-stitched Bashful Blue Grosgrain ribbon, silver elastic cord, 1/16″ handheld circle punch, sticky strip, paper snips, personal paper trimmer with scoring blade, small cello bag, Hershey Nuggets, scotch tape
Step 1: You’re going to need to cut out two Top Note dies out of Close to Cocoa CS with your Big Shot. Score each Top Note die at 3″ using your personal paper trimmer with scoring blade. Hand trim the left and right sides of the LONGEST portion of the Top Note die up to the score line. See picture below.

Step 2: Cut out another Top Note die, this time out of your Frosty Day DP. Trim off the perforated edge of the Top Note. Cut this DP Top Note in half. Do NOT score it. Stick down the Top Note to the 3″ flap. Fold the whole thing (the CS top note and the DP 1/2 Top Note) and then stick down the bottom portion of the DP Top Note. Trim the edges of the DP Top Note as was done for the CS Top Note Place sticky strip on the back of each Close to Cocoa Top Note as shown in the picture below. You will also need to cut TWO 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ pieces of Close to Cocoa CS – set one aside.

Step 3: Peel the backing off of the sticky strip and stick the Top Notes – one at a time – to the 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Close to Cocoa CS. You want to align the 3″ score lines of the Top Notes with the left and right edges of the CS. Take your SECOND piece of 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Close to Cocoa CS, place sticky strip on the back, and then center and sandwich it over the ends of the Close to Cocoa Top Notes.

Step 4: You will need 8 Hershey Nuggets. Cover the nuggest with 1″ x 3″ strips of DP. Place inside a small cello bag. Fold the top and side over and tape in place using regular scotch tape. Attach to the center of your nugget holder with sticky strip. Punch a hole using your horizontal slot punch just above the point of each Top Note Die. Take a 14″ piece of ribbon, slide it through the holes as shown.

Step 5: Tie your ribbon in a knot. Stamp your greeting in Close to Cocoa classic ink onto a scrap of white CS. Punch out with the curly label punch. Punch a hole with your 1/16″ handheld punch. Feed silver elastic cord (a 5″ piece) through the hole and tie to the ribbon knot. You’re done!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

I suggested these two in a demo survey recently – I’d like to see us offer the Bind-It-All as well as the Scor-Pal. I’d also like to have clear rhinestone brads available separately, without having to buy the Pretties Kit to get them, and I’d LOVE some chocolate brads!! Cute project today, but then again, when aren’t they?!? You do great work!

December 16th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
What would I like to see in the new catalogue? My dream is to see SU sell their stamps WITHOUT the wood blocks so that those of us who need to UM can save some money and NOT buy the wood blocks. Even if I save 30% off the price of the set, that is enough savings that I would consider buying more SU stamp sets.. right now, they’re way too expensive as they are… so I don’t buy much SU now
December 16th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
You never stop amazing me. More designer papers.
December 16th, 2008 at 1:11 pm
I’m on the embossing folders bandwagon also. Now that Sizzix has come out with their own embossing folders, I think the chances are pretty good that Stampin’ Up will carry them. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
