Tableau of Terror Treat Box

Halloween Box

Over the last week or so, in my little snatches of stamping time, I’ve been having so much fun making all sorts of neat 3D Halloween projects – which I’ll be sharing with you over the next few days.  This project is a cute little box with an acetate cover which I designed to hold 4 decorated York peppermint patties. I bought the peppermint patties, some Hershey nuggets and some Ghiradelli chocolates last Thursday just for this purpose – to see what kind of neat projects I could make.  Lo and behold, as I opened my cupboard in my stamping studio, I noticed the bags were open and some of the chocolates were gone!  My children you say?  Nope!….it was my husband!  He’s an incurable chocolate lover and somehow managed to sniff out the chocolates.  I couldn’t help but laugh – although I did tell him he had to slow down a bit, or I’d have nothing left for my stamping projects *lol*

You can download a template to make this box and the lid HERE.

To create the creatures inside, I stamped my main image from the Tableau of Terror stamp set four times.  I then used my 1 1/4" circle punch to punch the face of the werewolf, mummy, vampire and Frankenstein.  I then colored in only the main image in each circle.  The circles were then matted with a 1 3/8" circle of Kiwi Kiss CS and layered onto a scalloped circle punched out of Elegant Eggplant.  I then sandwiched a York peppermint patty between the scalloped image and another scalloped circle on the bottom.  I had to attach my scalloped circles to the peppermint patties using mini glue dots.  I stamped the greeting from the Tableau of Terror onto the acetate lid prior to assembling the lid.  I then added a little spider rub on from the Chills & Thrills Rub ons.  As a finishing touch, I added some black narrow grosgrain ribbon at the corners of the box. You can click on the picture to see a larger view.

Note: acetate sheets are also known as transparencies and you can purchase them at most office supply stores.  I always purchase the ones that are photocopy safe because they can withstand heat, which means you can emboss on them.
