Stampin’ Up! Makeover Monday Challenge
Posted on: Monday, June 16th, 2008
Hope you all had a good weekend. Today’s Stampin’ Up! Makeover Monday Challenge is up a little later than usual, and I apologize for that. Normally I have my posts pre-done and timed to publish right after midnight EST. Unfortunately, yesterday when we got home from my in-laws after our Father’s Day celebration, there was a HUGE thunderstorm which had knocked out our internet, cable TV , and home phones. The thunderstorm raged all night – I was quite amazed several times when I woke up throughout the night how hard it was raining and all the thunder and lightning there was.
Anyways, today’s makeover card is based on this one HERE. Although I didn’t really have a lot of time to check it out, that blog, called card positioning systems seems like quite a neat blog – it seems to have weekly card sketches. I’ll definately be checking it out for more ideas.
I kept the layout pretty much the same, but used Not Quite Navy Textured CS for my card base (5 1/4" x 5 1/4"), the Spring Break DP, various sizes of chipboard stars from a bunch of different Stampin’ Up! On Board chipboard sets (covered with the DP), chipboard letters from the Lots of Letters On Board chipboard, some Stampin’ Up! buttons, the small rhinestone brads from the Pretties Kit (I took the rhinestone out of the brad setting), the Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon, and a couple of silver brads.
It was a fairly straightforward card to make. The scalloped edge was done using my 3/16" corner rounder punch and the chipboard letters were covered first in white craft ink and then clear embossed.
Now it’s your turn. The purpose of Stampin’ Up!’s makeover Monday challenge is to take a totally or mostly non-Stampin’ Up! card and make it over using all Stampin’ Up! products. It doesn’t have to be a card, it can be a 3D item or scrapbook page as well. Colors and accessories can change, layout has stay pretty close to the same. It can change a little as you see if you compare my card to the card I "made over", but it has to still be recognizable as the same layout. Post your card to your blog or to splitcoaststampers, link here, then post a comment here and link to your post. You can enter as many samples and as many times as you want in a month. The next winner will be drawn on the first Monday in July and will receive a gift valued at $14.95 or less from the current Stampin’ Up! Catalog.

Lovely Layers…Simply Beautiful!
The colour combo can be used for any card and the SU star punches would come in handy to duplicate. Hmmm…maybe I need to do some shopping!!
Thanks for the inspiration!!
