Stampin’ Up! Makeover Monday Challenge

Stampin' Up! One of a Kind Stamp Set

Welcome to my first ever Stampin’ Up! Makeover Monday Challenge.  I hope you all decide to play!   The original card came from the blog "Just Give me Stamps" by Laurie Schmidlin.  You can see her card HERE.  Although the CS and ribbon of her card were from Stampin’ Up!, nothing else was.  I made the card over using the same main CS colors (Bashful Blue, Pumpkin Pie) I also used Real Red and Old Olive CS and the Summer Picnic DP.  The stamp set was One of a Kind.  I used my coluzzle and paper piercer with template to create the circles.  As accessories I used a Jumbo Antique Brass Eyelet and Antique Brass Brads from the Vintage Brads Collection.  Okay, now it’s your turn!…..

GUIDELINES: All you have to do is take a mostly or completely non-Stampin’ Up! project that you love and make it over using ALL Stampin’ Up! products.  The layout has to stay the same, but the colors and accessories can change.

HOW TO ENTER:  Post your sample(s) on your blog under the title Stampin’ Up! Monday Makeover Challenge & link to this post – make sure that in your post you also link to the "Before" project so that people can see what it is you made over.  Once you have done that, come back here, leave a comment with the link to YOUR blog posting, so that everyone who visits can see what you’ve done – be sure to have your full name in the comment.  For every sample that you make over, your name will be entered into a draw for an item from the current Stampin’ Up! Catalogue of $19.95 value or less  (value in Canadian funds as there is a price difference between product in catalogues from different countries).  The last day of the month I’ll draw one name.  So on the first Monday of June, I’ll be announcing the May winner.  You can play as many times as you want! This challenge is open to both Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators and non-demonstrators alike.

HOW THE CHALLENGE WAS BORN: I don’t know about you, but I personally have found that one of the biggest dangers of blog browsing is that when you come across projects that you love, an impulse is born:   Love it!…….WANT IT…….NEED IT!   If that just happened once in a while, well, that wouldn’t be too bad. When it starts happening multiplie times a day….No….multiple times an hour….that spells financial disaster!  Besides, you can only work with so much. A point comes when you have so much stuff that you either can’t remember what you have, don’t remember what project you bought it for, or by the time you get to using it, it’s no longer trendy!  While there are many other stamping and scrapping products out there that are equally as beautiful (and don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Stampin’ Up! Nazi), as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator I represent a product I love and believe in, so why not look for as many ways as I can to showcase the versatility of our products?  Just because there’s a lot of great stuff out there doesn’t mean you HAVE to own it.  Look for ways of using what you already have to achieve the same look of other non-Stampin’ Up! projects you love.  The end result is that you’ll expand your creativity without breaking the bank!

What a wicked awesome idea! I’m so happy you decided to do this. One of the worst things for me about stamping is that I haven’t much of an imagination. I love all these blogs that I visit but deep down, I wish they were all SU! related! I love the look of all the other stamp companies but, like you said, can’t afford to run out and buy a whole bunch of stuff. This challenge will give me the kick in the bum that I need to think up some great new stuff! You rule, Andrea. Totally rule.

Hi Andrea-

Thank you for this challenge. What a great idea. I have been side-tracked lately by looking at and buying a few non-SU prouducts. It is so easy to go crazy. I hope to play along with this.
