Embracing Life in Teal
Posted on: Sunday, January 6th, 2008
Probably THE biggest thing I struggle with in stamping is coming up with a layout for a card. Hence, as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, I generally use existing layouts from other talented stampers as a starting point. This week, ever since I re-entered the blogging world, my new favourite inspiration is Ana Wohlfhart from Ink a Stamp blog. This card was based on the card you see HERE. It turns out though, that this layout actually comes from a website called Card Maps.
Once again I used Stampin’ Up!’s Embrace Life stamp set, and their gorgeous Bali Breeze DP. Stampin’ Up! has such an amazing way of coming up with the most gorgeous designer papers (and everything else – LOL!). Every time I sit down to make a card or other project and pull out my Stampin’ Up! supplies I marvel at how everything just goes together so wonderfully – I can’t tell you how much time that saves! As with the last two cards I’ve posted, this definately qualifies as time consuming – again, it probably took me about an hour. It’s all those layers I tell ya! The base of the card is Old Olive CS. On it, I layered a mat of Groovy Guava, and then the Bali Breeze DP. I first lightly sponged the edges of the Bali Breeze DP with Taken with Teal ink. The Old Olive strip of DP is also from Bali Breeze and was matted onto Old Olive CS. The tag was created out of Blush Blossom CS (sponged with Groovy Guava) matted onto Taken with Teal. I stamped the flowers in black Staz On and then colored them in using an aqua painter and Groovy Guava, Rose Red and Old Olive classic ink. I stamped a few extra flowers onto scraps of blush blossom, then cut them out and mounted them onto the main image using small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a jumbo pewter eyelet and set it with my crop-a-dile. I added some double stitched groovy guava ribbon and an olive ribbon from my ribbon originals (I think the Theater one). The greeting was stamped onto a small piece of whisper white CS and then paper pierced and matted onto old olive CS. As a final touch, I stamped the larger flower in black staz on onto whisper white CS and colored it in using my aqua painter and Groovy Guava ink. The rhinestone brads are from Stampin’ Up!’s collection of circle rhinestone brads.
All supplies used are Stampin’ Up! of course! Have a great evening!
