Grateful Card

GratefulTrees

Happy Thanksgiving!  Today I wanted to share with you a simple card about gratitude. I got the idea for the layout of this card from the October 2007 Cards magazine.  For the last few months life has been busy and stressful and sometimes it’s hard to “see the forest through the trees” – it’s easy for me to get all worked up about “this going wrong…and that going wrong…”. This card is a reminder to me to stop and take the time to look for the beauty in the trees, but also to look up and see the forest as well.  There are many, many things I am grateful for this holiday season, and I need to think about those things.

You can see a video on how the card was made below:

Directions:

  1. Center and stick a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of So Saffron DP from the Tall Tales DP collection to a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Chocolate Chip CS.
  2. Stick a 7″ piece of 5/8″ Chocolate Chip Grosgrain ribbon to the So Saffron DP with Snail adhesive – make sure that the left end of the ribbon starts at the edge of the Chocolate Chip CS and that there is no adhesive on the left 1″ of the ribbon.  Wrap the right end of the ribbon around behind the Chocolate Chip CS and stick down with Snail adhesive.
  3. Stamp your greeting just above the ribbon, a little to the left of the center of the card. Use a stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
  4. Loop a 6″ piece of linen thread twice around the left end of the ribbon (see picture of card for placement) and tie it in a knot.
  5. Take a white button from the Button Latte collection and thread it with a piece of Linen Thread.  Stick it to the center of the ribbon with a mini glue dot.
  6. Cut three trees from the Tall Tales DP and stick them to the card – the middle tree was stuck down with Snail adhesive, the two side trees used a bit of Snail adhesive on the bottom of the tree truns (which were then tucked under the ribbon) – the tree tops were stuck to the card front using a Stampin’ Dimensional for each.
  7. Lay the Chocolate Chip CS piece onto a foam mat and pierce two holes in the top left corner.  Insert an antique brass vintage brad into each hole.
  8. Center and stick the Chocolate Chip CS piece onto a So Saffron card front (created out of a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of So Saffron CS folded in half).

I hope you enjoyed this card.
