Wandering Words Christmas Card
Posted on: Monday, November 2nd, 2009
I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween weekend. Ours was pretty chilly and VERY windy, but the kids had a great time. The card I’m going to share with you is a very simple Christmas card I made using the Wandering Words stamp set – it’s another great layout to use if you need to make LOTS of cards. You can watch the video on how I made it below.
Directions:
- Take a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Real Red CS and fold it in half using your bone folder. Set it aside for a moment.
- Center and stick a piece of 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ striped DP along the bottom edge of a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla CS.
- Center and stamp the santa/sleigh image from the Wandering Words stamp set in Chocolate Chip Classic ink along the top of the Very Vanilla CS piece.
- Dot some 2-way glue onto each of the stars on the main image and sprinkle on Dazzling Diamonds glitter.
- Lay a 5″ piece of 5/8″ Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon across the Very Vanilla CS so that it covers the seam of the DP. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick it down using snail adhesive.
- Mat the Very Vanilla CS piece onto a 3 3/4″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Chocolate Chip CS.
- Take a 4″ piece of 5/8″ Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon and create the loop as shown in the video. Stick it onto the first piece of ribbon with a mini glue dot.
- “Faux” thread a Real Red button from the Playground button collection using a sliver of Real Red CS (if you’ve never done this before you can see how in the video).
- Stick the button to the center of the ribbon loop with a mini glue dot.
- Center and stick the Chocolate Chip CS piece to the Real Red card front. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

I love this card. I really have to get that stamp set. Our Halloween was cool for a change. Down her in Texas, it is usually hot for Halloween. It was great to have nice weather. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice, simple Christmas card. I like it. It has been cold and windy here, but probably not as cold as you are there!

I’m with you on the windy thing, because it was so windy where we are. I guess it was cool in a way, as it added to the whole Halloween feel; you know, dark, windy night. Unfortunately it rained a bit though which put a bit of a damper on the festivities.
Cute card. I just got that set, but haven’t had a chance to make anything with it yet.

A card that looks like it would be a lot of work but that you could make your Christmas stack quite quickly.
Beautiful.

Love the ribbon treatment on the card and the faux button stitching.
Unfortunately we don’t have this set in Australia, but the video was definately worth watching because I learned these 2 new techniques.
Thanks for inspiring me.

I really like how simple this card is. I am going to add it to my holiday stamp a stack. I never thought to use a sliver of cardstock to thread through the button hole. This will be a great technique to show my club.
Thank you.

Hi Andrea, love the layout & the red button just makes it pop just enough. I make my cards & it always seems as though there is something missing just a little & you always manage to make it just right. I picked this stamp set a while ago for a swap group & I used the fall stamp from this set. I had a real hard time coming up with an idea. You make it look so simple.
