Punch Pal Pie

punchpalpie 002

Wow, this past weekend has gone by in a whirl!  I just got back from Cambridge late last night where I had spent the Thanksgiving weekend with Andrea.  We all had a wonderful time, but it went by quickly, and was exceedingly busy.  I came up with this simple card and tutorial on Monday and part of Tuesday (before my 8 hour drive with all the stops we had to make).  It is a bit late for the posting, but I have been frantically trying to get everything finished with the video and with the house work and shopping.  My video sounds a bit weird, in fact I sound kind of spacey around the end.  The truth of the matter is that I got distracted as I was saying goodbye and couldn’t concentrate on my words.  As I was getting through to the end, I could hear a big fat mouse in the ceiling above me!  I started having this awful vision of it falling down on me (we have a drop ceiling in the basement).  Well I don’t like mice at all.  I like them as cartoons and stamp images, but the real things just gross me out.  So as soon as I was done, I packed up my youngest son, picked up my middle son from pre-school and went down to Walmart where I got a bunch of mouse traps….. you know the girly ones where it is easy to set and you don’t have to touch the mouse as you pinch and release the trap.  So now the trap lines are set and I am waiting for success!

Ok well about today’s card.  I wanted to keep in simple but interesting.  I made the pie from my punches and then wove a background piece to showcase it.  The Whisper White panel was run through the check pattern texture plate.  I was really trying to go for a country feel, with Gingham tablecloths.  Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day!!

Hugs,

Great minds think alike! I just sketched an almost identical pie, but I like your steamy swirls! I didn’t think of using this die, and I like it very very much! :)

That is so adorable!!! I can smell that pie from here. Smells like yummy cherry pie. What an adorable card. I love your woven background. You sure put wonderful touches on your cards!

I LOVE all of your punch art cards Sophia! You and your sister are really talented and thanks soooo much for sharing!! Also, I wanted to ask about the large red circle nested in the scallop circle; did you use the circle scissors plus or did you use the clear circle die or something else? Thanks in advance for letting me know!

11

Sorry to hear about your mouse! :S What an adorable punch pie – I love the textured card stock for the pie crust – so perfect!

12

I can almost smell the pie! Cute card! Hope you catch the mouse…I don’t like those either.

What a great card using punches, you can make so many things that you would have thought should have been stamped!! :) Thank You!

I love the pie card, I will definitely be making some of these. My hubby and I sell apples pies, what a great card to give to to my customers when they purchase some:). Thanks

Fantastic! I needed a new Thanksgiving card idea–thanks!

The pie looks great. Maybe the mouse heard you were making pie and thought he could get a few crumbs…Anyway hope you catch him. Too bad your hubby isnt’ there to do it.

I love the dimension punches give. A cute card stamped, but punches give punch. Love the steam idea and the woven background. Thanks again.

22

Fun card! I am making pies for our Thanksgiving dinner this year. I thought this would be so cute on a little place card, stating what kind each pie is!

23

I would like to have your eyes so that I could see all these things in the punches. GREAT JOB!

24

I don’t like mice at all, not even as pictures. I hope you catch that pesky thing. I like your card. The pie looks good enough to eat and the weaving is great. I hope you, Andrea and all your family had a great Thanksgiving even though it was busy! Thanks for sharing.

25

What can I say, yet again another lovely card.

Cute & easy as pie! :) I can relate on the mouse issue. I had one in the van this week. I used these sticky trays that the mouse gets stuck in and it puts them to sleep & kills them. It worked great and just lifted tray and threw in trash. I wish you luck on your mouse hunt.

27

This is such a fun card. I love how inspirational you are with those punches!

28

What a yummy looking pie! Great card. Man, I would have freeked out with your distraction. You sounded pretty calm.

I’m chuckling over the mouse story. In case you’re interested, the best way we’ve found to catch a mouse with a trap is to use a piece of dog food wrapped in peanut butter as the peanut butter is rather gooey and the mouse can’t easily slip it off the trap. The glue traps work really well, also. Oh…and I enjoy your punch art! Thanks for sharing!!

Wonderful post! I love the video and what a cute pie. Very creative! Also loved that you told us why you were a little off at the end of the video. I was laughing knowing then what you were listening to and what was happening. Sorry to laugh, but it was very funny! Best, Curt

Wow, I could tell you lots of mouse stories! I hate them and I think the same as you .. cartoon mice are fine but real ones gross me out!! I once had some in an old house I lived in and it was just a nightmare. I couldn’t set traps and I’m way too squeamish to ‘untrap’ them once they’re caught .. no way.. so if you’re ‘untrapping’ them, you’re pretty brave!

32

I absolutely love punchies and this is a new one for me…Thanks!!!

33

oh..love the card. and the mouse story-been there/done that! :)

34

love it Sophie, thanks for sharing
