Friday Fun Folds Video: Top Note “Envelope” Gift Card Holder
Posted on: Friday, September 11th, 2009
Today’s Friday Fun Folds idea orginated with a project I learned from my upline many years ago that’s often been referred to as the Crimped Envelope Card which is created using regular office variety A2 envelopes. In my variation I actually created my own crimped “envelope” pouch using Designer Paper. My “top” was created using one of Stampin’ Up!’s Top Note dies.

As you can see from the picture above it has a tag insert that I’ve created. You could use the tag insert in several ways: you could stick on a gift card using a mini glue dot, you could include a small holiday photo and send it to long-distance loved ones, OR you could simply write in a message and use it as a card.
In the last Friday Fun Folds video I was lamenting over the fact that I always seem to have little bloopers in my videos regardless of how many “retakes” I try. It seems that not only do you guys not mind, but from your feedback, my bloopers give you guys a chuckle. It’s a good thing, because even after about 5 retakes, I still had a couple of bloopers. So here’s a little game for you. Watch today’s video and see if you can catch my bloopers. There are 2 (that I caught anyways). One of them I labelled with an “oops”, but the other one I didn’t. Can you find them? Leave a comment in the comments section but DON’T READ THE OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOURS when you do okay? because that would be cheating since the comments are all public *lol*. I’ll draw a name on Wednesday and the winner will receive my Christmas Stamp Camp Class by Email free (or planner version if you’re a Stampin’ Up! demo) when it’s released next week.
Here’s how I made this card:
- Take a 6″ x 9″ piece of Holiday Lounge DP and score it at 3 3/4″ and 7 1/2″.
- Rotate the DP 90 degrees and score it at 1″. If the DP has a pattern then make sure that you pay attention to it’s orientation before you start scoring. The first one that I made I ended up scoring it so that the ornaments were upside down *lol*.
- Fold along the crease lines with a bone folder. The 1″ flap that you scored along the bottom of the DP will be divided into three rectangular-shaped sections by the intersecting score lines. Cut out the left and right rectangles (see video for clarification).
- On the remaining bottom 1″ rectangular-shaped flap, round the two corners with a 3/16″ corner rounder punch.
- Lay your DP on the table in front of you so that the largest flap is towards the left, the small 1 1/2″ wide flap is on the right and the 1″ rectangular shaped flap with the rounded corners is at the bottom.
- Fold the large left flap inwards. Place some Snail adhesive on the small right flap and fold that inwards. Place some Snail adhesive on the small 1″ bottom flap and fold that upwards. You’ve now created your “envelope”.
- Rotate the envelope so that the top opening is towards the left and the bottom is towards the right and run it through a paper crimper. You may need to run it through twice.
- Punch a half circle in the front of the envelope using a 1 1/4″ circle punch. Set aside.
- Take a Top Note die cut out of Ruby Red CS using the Big Shot and Stampin’ Up!’s Top Note die. Fold the top note die in half along the long side. Punch a hole in each bottom corner (see video) with a 1/16″ handheld circle punch.
- Stamp a greeting on the front (towards the bottom right edge) in Basic Black Classic ink. Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
- Insert a silver brad into each hole that you punched in Step 9.
- Wrap a 16″ piece of Kraft Taffeta ribbon around the folded Top Note die and tie the ribbon in a knot. Trim the ends.
- Take a 3 1/8″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Whisper White CS and stamp the reindeer from the Sparkly and Bright stamp set, in Chocolate Chip Classic ink. Color in the nose of the Reindeer with a Ruby Red Stampin’ Write marker.
- Mat the Whisper White CS piece onto a 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Ruby Red CS using Snail adhesive.
- Punch out a tab from a piece of Holiday Lounge DP using the Round Tab punch. Fold the tab in half and center and stick it to the top of the Ruby Red CS tag using Snail adhesive.
- Insert the tag into the DP envelope pouch and then slide it into the Top Note die “top”. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

That’s different! Very neat! I love that little reindeer!
Thanks for sharing.

well, what I caught was when you put on the buttom flap (of the envelope), you said “another strip of sticky strip” instead of “snail adhesive”.
but never mind of the boo boos, love the envelope gift card holder, very cheerful!
September 11th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Oh, this is a great project – thanks for another wonderful video!
I actually counted THREE bloopers! And don’t worry about them, I think they just make you seem more like a real person than an ethereal stamping goddess!
At 2:49 you said “Sticky Strip” instead of “SNAIL adhesive”
At 2:59 you said “paper trimmer” instead of “paper crimper”
At the end of the video you had some trouble getting the envelope into the topper (which I wouldn’t have counted as a blooper, except that you said “oops”!)
I hope I win your planner!

Wow! You have such neat tutorials and I love that you make mistakes or slips just like us less talented stampers. Never the less you do a great job and the finished projects are always worth it. I am not sure about “oops” but I noticed instead of paper crimper you said paper trimmer and instead of round tab punch I thought I heard round top punch. I probably would not have caught any mistakes if you had not challenged us to find them. Great job and it makes you very human. I love your blog.

sticky strip and paper trimmer
great project!
September 11th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
great project Andrea! Easy, practical and fun to make. I had to watch the video twice to catch the 2nd blooper… sticky strip instead of snail. I did catch the “paper trimmer” even before it came on the screen. Thanks for doing those tutorials.
September 11th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
I love this tutorial! Will be making this for sure. LOVE the reindeer stamp. Not sure if this is the mistake – but your little topper – puller outer thingy – is different in the video than it is in the picture of the finished project. And the crimper – but really – no biggie. Again, love this!
September 11th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
This is a nice way to show off the gift card.
Thanks!
September 11th, 2009 at 1:35 pm
sticky strip and paper trimmer… But no worries! You’re still fabulous anyways!!!
***fingers crossed in hopes of winning***
September 11th, 2009 at 1:55 pm
whow! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful Gift Card Holder!
I will give it a try!

Heehee, paper trimmer and sticky strip.
That’s okay, in my house I’m the queen of bloopers.
It keeps the kids entertained…at least that’s what I tell myself.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Great video and great project! I love that you have “bloopers” and leave them in the videos!
You said Sticky Strip instead of SNAIL on the bottom flap, and
Paper Trimmer instead of Paper Crimper.
Thanks for the chance to win! I hope Wednesday is my lucky day!
Hugs!
September 11th, 2009 at 2:36 pm
I was so wrapped up in the video I didn’t notice any bloopers (other than when you said “oops”). I actually had to go back and watch again to catch what I missed. LOL.
When you were working on sealing the bottom flap of the g/c holder you said “Sticky strip” instead of “snail adhesive”. It was such a minor slip that I truly didn’t notice.
Anyhow…thanks so much for sharing the tutorial and also for the chance to possibly win a copy of the class planner.
I hope you have a great day.
September 11th, 2009 at 3:01 pm
That was great I caught the first one where you called the paper crimper a paper trimmer, but had to watch it again to find the second where you said to add more sticky strip when you added more snail adhesive. We are so use to knowing what you mean we don’t even notice it most the time. Thanks for the video.
September 11th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
This is adorable! i must go try one out!! Thanks so much for sharing.
hugs,
Rachel
September 11th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
I caught one where you said sticky strip instead of snail adhesive – when you were sealing the bottom flap. And then twice you said paper trimmer instead of crimper. I rewound it three times just to be sure. I did see where you said oops where you were putting the topper on your pouch. Great video, great idea!
September 11th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
I think it was that you said sticky strip instead of snail adhesive and that you called the paper crimper the paper trimmer twice.
But it was a great video. I don’t think I would have noticed it if you had not said anything. Thanks for a great video.
September 11th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Love this projectand your video. No worries about the bloopers – they’re not noticeable at all. In fact, if I wasn’t looking for bloopers, I never would have noticed. The ones I saw were when you said to add sticky strip when you were using snail no the bottom flap and when you called the crimper a trimmer. TFS!
September 11th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Andrea. I always look forward to your ideas and wouldn’t have noticed any bloopers..
You mentioned the trimmer when using the Crimper..
Have a fabulous weekend! I love the different gift card holders!
Thanks,
Megan
September 11th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Andrea – I loved your video, and the bloopers aren’t noticeable at all! Since I was looking, I noticed that you said “sticky strip” when you were applying snail to the bottom flap, and your “oops” blooper was when you were working to get the top note over the top of the envelope.
Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
-Andrea
September 11th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
Andrea great video you gave me an idea for my grandson’s first xmas pic put his pic in these and send them out thanks
September 11th, 2009 at 4:16 pm
You always come up with such original projects! Oops, that’s not sticky strip, though! And well, crimper, trimmer, whatever! I wouldn’t normally pick it over like that…my videos are ONE take, good or bad!!! I think you always do a great job!
September 11th, 2009 at 4:59 pm
You said sticky strip instead of snail when you were making the envelope and using snail on the bottom flap! Love the project – I can see many of them in my future! What a great way to use up scraps of DP that you don’t know what to do with!
September 11th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
LOL! I do the same thing… sometimes I catch myself and other times my guests catch me on it
Today’s cute project included the teeny bloopers:
sticky strip (snail)
paper trimmer (crimper)
Thanks always for sharing
September 11th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Super cute!
September 11th, 2009 at 5:44 pm
This is so cute! It makes giving a gift card so much more special! Really pretty.
September 11th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
LOL… I only caught the boo-boo you pointed out! As you can guess, I have children…noisy children! Anyways, great gift card holder. Love it topped off with our top note & isn’t that reindeer just the cutest?! Love your videos & shares! Thanks so much & have a wonderfully creative weekend!
September 11th, 2009 at 6:01 pm
Great tutorial Andrea. Thanks so much for sharing. I noticed 2 other ‘bloopers’ other than your oops, which I really wouldn’t have counted, but nice fix by saying to take it slow when inserting the envelope into the topper.
Others:
1. Sticky strip instead of snail adhesive
2. Paper trimmer instead of crimper (which I think you actually said twice)
But who knows if we would actually have picked up on them if you didn’t have us looking for them.
Thanks again.
September 11th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Oh, how totally cute! This is a great “out of the box” idea. I never would have thought to use the top note die for the top of the envelope. Love it!!!
September 11th, 2009 at 7:25 pm
I caught you saying “sticky strip” instead of snail adhesive while you were sealing the bottom flap. I’d just like to say that your creations are beautiful. Please keep them coming!
September 11th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
What a fantastic idea!
September 11th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
This is such a great card…I will case it!
the two oops are the Crimper and using mono but calling it Sticky strip!
most of the time I just know what you mean but I had to listen carefully to the video today!
Great card! kt
September 11th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
Andrea,
This is a great idea as usual! The bloopers, Paper Trimmer instead of Crimper and Sticky Strip instead of snail. But if you didn’t tell us we probably would not have noticed as we intently watch what you are doing!!
September 11th, 2009 at 8:01 pm
The other blooper I found was that you said “sticky strip” instead of snail adhesive on the envelope. I think your videos are great though! You are sooo talented and I hope, hope, hope I win.
Thanks
Rachel
September 11th, 2009 at 8:03 pm
Fantastic little gift card holder! I’m always looking for innovative ways to package these little gems
For bloopers, you said sticky strip instead of snail, and paper trimmer instead of paper crimper – but since we all understand what you meant, it hardly counts at all!
September 11th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
You said paper trimmer instead of paper crimper. This is an excellent tutorial. I just love it!
September 11th, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Great video. I had to watch twice because I was so into the project the first time, I forgot to make note and pay attention of the bloopers!
Anyway… you said Sticky Strip and not Snail and Paper Trimmer instead of Paper Crimper. It’s all good, thank you for the great videos!
September 11th, 2009 at 8:43 pm
I love it!! I think I’ll be making this card soon! So I got 2 – and then I wasn’t sure about the 3rd…
1. Sticky strip instead of snail
2. paper crimper instead of trimmer
3? – Gift Tag – but I thought you first called it a note tag? Doesn’t matter- I still love all your work!
September 11th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
Great card. I will be making one of these soon. I love learning different “fun folds” cards. Thanks for doing the video tutorials.
September 11th, 2009 at 8:54 pm
I love your ideas. You give great tutorials too, bloopers or not. LOL
You said paper trimmer twice when you meant to say paper crimper, and then instead of snail adhesive you said sticky strip.
Great project, thanks for sharing.
September 11th, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Another GREAT tutorial!! Who cares about little oops. You notice them more than we do because people tend to be the most critical about themselves. Think about it- nobody likes their own photo- we see things no one else would notice.
Thanks for sharing AGAIN!
September 11th, 2009 at 9:03 pm
I love this card/gift holder! What a great way to dress up a money gift!
As for bloopers…well, you are human like the rest of us (which still amazes me considering all your talent and creativity!)…so, you puts the oops up for the paper trimmer/crimper blooper, then you said sticky strip instead of snail adhesive.
I didn’t say this on the last video because I forgot, but I hoped that something tumbling across your floor was a trend that would be a regular feature. LOL It was in the first and second videos. You know that most of the time we wouldn’t even notice the bloopers if you didn’t point them out.
Thanks so much for sharing.
September 11th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
OH man another wonderful tutorial…:)and bloopers.. what bloopers
(shhhh its between us about the sticky strip and the paper trimmer mix up lol…)
September 11th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
I love the videos! I only noticed bloopers because you mentioned them in the post. You said sticky strip instead of SNAIL and paper trimmer instead of crimper (and marked hat one.) Thank you for the great ideas
September 11th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
I loved the fact that you made your own envelope; I can use this idea for other projects, too! The only blooper I caught (besides the paper trimmer oops) was that you said “sticky strip” instead of snail adhesive.
Great project–and not only for Christmas!
September 11th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
I caught the paper trimmer too, and the sticky strip – but honestly, your tutorial was great! I’m an avid fan of your blog and check out your projects daily but this is the first time I’ve actually “watched” your video! Your video is great – you make it seem so effortless when you did the card. Thank you for all your great ideas!!
September 11th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
love your idea for the top note. i am going to have to make some of these. they look really easy and fast to make. you said sticky strip instead of snail and your crimper was called a paper trimmer, but who really noticed. hehehehe thanks for all your hard work!
September 11th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
Love your ideas, I don’t mind the bloopers at all. This project is so darn cute. I have 5 teens and this will be perfect for their Christmas gift cards. I caught you calling the snail adhesive sticky strip, but that was only because I was really listening this time.
September 12th, 2009 at 12:25 am
It was not easy to find the bloopers, I had to watch it twice and rewind on the second viewing. You said paper trimmer twice instead of crimper and you also said sticky strip instead of saying snail adhesive. I don’t think I would have noticed, had you not asked if we could find your mistakes. I love your site and all your projects always look so cute and you do a great job showcasing them.
September 12th, 2009 at 1:38 am
I love the video tutorials.
I think i caught you mention twice that you were using a paper trimmer instead of a crimper & then once you called snail sticky strip. I don’t care because I love being able to see how to do the tutorials.
September 12th, 2009 at 1:38 am
What a neat project and a great tutorial – again! I almost hate to say what the bloopers were. The first was when you said to use Sticky Strip on the envelope flap, and the other was the “oops” moment when you couldn’t get the crimped envelope into the topper.
September 12th, 2009 at 2:57 am
This is so much nicer than using an envelope! Thanks so much for your great tutorial. I think you said sticky strip for the bottom flap rather than snail. Doesn’t matter–I really liked the video.
September 12th, 2009 at 3:40 am
Well, your site is wonderful! Thank you for your great tutorials. You get so involved in watching and learning, that the ‘mistakes’ slide right on by. I had to rewind to even realize that you said Sticky Strip, instead of Snail adhesive, and obviously saw your oops about using the crimper. You certainly shouldn’t have ‘oops’-ed about trying to get the envelope into the topper! This is a terrific idea, thank you.
September 12th, 2009 at 6:48 am
Bloopers aside I love the video. For a visual learner like myself your videos save me time b/c I don’t have to flounder through the process trying to figure it out with just the written directions. A million thanks for taking the time to make them. I just love this holder and can’t wait to make it.
September 12th, 2009 at 7:04 am
Cut! That’s a wrap! *LOL* Another well done video, Andrea. Hey, the oops are no big deal; we all knew what you meant especially when you followed it up with the real thing — crimper, sticky strip. The mind is very forgiving and makes the correction seamless. Look forward to the next one. (smile)
September 12th, 2009 at 7:45 am
Hey, I am always saying something for something else, especially if they do/mean the same thing. I had to go back to find the sticky strip thing because sticky is sticky and I was so engrossed in your technique that it blew right past me. I knew I needed adhesive there. I love paper trimmer because I grew up with a pencil sharpener being called a pencil trimmer and when I went to college and called it a pencil trimmer everyone laughed at me. Anyway, I dont’ think of them a boo boos but as you being real just like all of us. Love all that you share.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:01 am
Andrea,
I love this card!!! The bloopers I noticed were saying sticky strip instead of snail and paper trimmer instead of crimper. BUT, not to worry. You are such a super woman with your stamping and creative ideas, that the bloopers just make us realize that you are human like the rest of us…and that is o.k. You are truly amazing. Can’t figure out how you do all you do and with such grace and charm. Your blog is one of my favorites which I check daily and you are a constant creative inspiration to me. PLUS, I love that you do ALL SU ideas!!!
Thank you,
Charlene

I love your videos, they are great!!! You are such an inspiration for me, and I thank you for that! Thanks for sharing.
sticky strip instead of snail
paper trimmer instead of crimper
Love the chances to win…hope it’s ME!!!!!
Joan
September 12th, 2009 at 8:09 am
Nice idea! Video was great and bloopers very minor. The only one I really noticed was that you said sticky strip instead of snail. Way better than I would have done! Very clear and easy to follow. TFS!
September 12th, 2009 at 8:15 am
Andrea,
Love your tutorials and it wouldn’t be a tutorial w/out a blooper or two. That’s what makes them so fun! The first one I caught was the one where you said “put a layer of sticky strip along the bottom” right after you used the corner rounder on the bottom of the envelope – you actually used SNAIL. Then of course the comment about “grab your paper trimmer and run your envelope thru it” – when actually you grabbed your crimper. Loved this tutorial and thanks for a great idea.
Thanks for a chance to win.
Sarah
September 12th, 2009 at 8:17 am
I love this idea! You are so creative! Bloopers?? Well a paper crimper
could be a trimmer…it does make the project a wee bit smaller! And sticky strip vs adhesive…its a matter of choice! Its like 6 of 1…
1/2 doz of the other. I just enjoy stamping along with you and making projects! Thanks for you inspiration! I will be awaiting the next “class”!
September 12th, 2009 at 8:21 am
Wow. I LOVE this card. Thanks so much for sharing. Your ‘bloopers’ were saying trimmer instead of crimper and the other was saying sticky strip instead of snail. Well, we knew you were demonstrating it correct!!! I’m going to have fun with this one.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:23 am
Great job, as always, Andrea! The 2 ‘oops’ that I found were: a) the 2nd strip of adhesive on the envelope was mentioned to be sticky strip & b) the paper crimper was spoken of as a paper trimmer! Great project- I thoroughly enjoyed and plan to incorporate into my clubs as a bonus project!
September 12th, 2009 at 8:28 am
Paper trimmer instead of crimper and sticky strip instead of snail. I think that was it. You’re very good so bloopers just show you’re human!!!
Mary

September 12th, 2009 at 8:31 am
At one point you referred to the snail adhesive as sticky strip. You also said trimmer instead of crimper.
I love this card. And now that I have DSL, my internet is faster and I can really enjoy your videos.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:35 am
Your bloopers make you human….you said trimmer but should have been crimper and sticky strip when it should have been snail. I think this card is a great idea. I’ll be making one today. Thanks for sharing.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:39 am
You said sticky strip instead of SNAIL when adhering the bottom flap of the envelope, then said paper trimmer instead of paper crimper – twice! This is such a cute little gift card envelope – I can’t wait to make it! Thanks for the chance to win.
September 12th, 2009 at 8:41 am
Hi Andrea, a great video, you sound so professional. no emms,or pauses ,you do a wonderful job, I only noticed the paper trimmer and you said sticky strip when you used snail, love the video and using the top note is a great idea, thanks alwyas for sharing
Eileen
September 12th, 2009 at 8:44 am
WOW, this is so cute…..and bloopers. That is all part of being human….and this world has lost so much of that human touch…Go to a grocery store, some lines you just “scan” your purchases and leave, never speaking to anyone. It’s sad
Saying sticky strip instead of snail and saying paper trimmer instead of crimper…reminds me of when my kids were young and I called to one of them and usually by the 3rd name I called out, I got the right name…Thanks for sharing your talents…Can’t wait to make some of these….
September 12th, 2009 at 9:02 am
Adorable as usual! Your video was great – I love that you take the time to explain each step (even thought the directions are printed below) as for the bloopers, trust me they were not bad at all – really unnoticeable but you did want us to look for them! so ….. I found 3 – although you clued us with the oops on one…..
sticky strip – snail adhesive
paper trimmer instead of crimper (twice)
inserting the envelope into the topper – your oops!
I will definitely be making several of these as gift card holders! I love the use of the decorative paper verses stamping a white envelope – everything is even and you can zip them up in minutes!!!
September 12th, 2009 at 9:05 am
Great tutorial, i just love to watch tutorial videos and despite the bloopers you did great. I just caught you saying sticky strip instead of snail and the paper trimmer instead of crimper. Thanks for the chance to win one of your classes.
September 12th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Wow! I hadn’t thought of this — amazing! Thanks for another great idea — always looking for them! J
September 12th, 2009 at 9:20 am
I had to watch three times to catch the bloopers! The first was saying sticky strip instead of snail on the bottom flap. Then you said paper trimmer twice instead of crimper and finally you talked about crimping twice because of going through 3 layers with the bottom flap–there is a small part that would actually be 4 layers.
Great project and video–bloopers are fun and not a problem.
September 12th, 2009 at 9:25 am
You certainly are consistent! Paper trimmer instead of crimper twice. And of course, the other sticky strip. A well done video.
September 12th, 2009 at 9:27 am
Great project! I did catch sticky strip instead of snail, and of course, the paper trimmer instead of paper crimper. But if you hadn’t mentioned them I probably wouldn’t have noticed because your tutorials are so great to watch! Thanks!
September 12th, 2009 at 9:45 am
Love your tutorial, bloopers and all..
You said Paper Crimper twice… and Sticky Strip instead of Snail adhesive.. All in all great job, super easy, will have to give it a try..
Until the next one.
September 12th, 2009 at 10:01 am
Love all your great ideas. I have copied several. I love to smile and the bloopers help me do that. I caught where you said sticky strip instead of snail adhesive on the bottom flap and also when you said paper trimmer instead of paper crimper. This was a fun game! Janice
September 12th, 2009 at 10:24 am
I think your videos are PERFECT!! You are a NATURAL. I would have NEVER found your “bloopers” (or paid much attention to them) if you hadn’t asked us to. I did smile when you called the paper crimper a paper trimmer (two times ~ LOL), but I don’t think I would have noticed your calling the snail adhesiver sticky strip if I hadn’t been looking. This is another classy project by a classy lady. AWESOME JOB!! As all of your projects, you’ve made this easy to recreate. I also love that you provide step-by-step written directions AND a video. You and Sonya ROCK!!
September 12th, 2009 at 10:25 am
OMG … SPEAKING OF BLOOPERS … I called Sophia Sonya … LOL!! I APOLOGIZE!!
September 12th, 2009 at 10:29 am
Andrea, you are so calm making your videos!! You do a wonderful job. I only caught the Sticky Strip instead of SNAIL. Great job on all your tutorials. Thanks for the opportunity to win…Mary D.
September 12th, 2009 at 10:39 am
Thanks for sharing how to make your own envelope for this. I’ve never been fond of the ones made with a standard envelope, but this is so much cuter with the DP.
Your bloopers were calling the crimper a paper trimmer and snail adhesive sticky strip, but who cares???? I was so involved in watching you make the project that I wasn’t listening for any mistakes. You do such a terrific job!
September 12th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Love that you’re doing videos now (even with a few bloopers)! You called the paper crimper a paper trimmer (that one was marked with the ‘oops’) and you called the SNAIL sticky strip when you were adhering the envelope flap.
September 12th, 2009 at 11:35 am
Great Video and Great Card! I laughed the first time you said paper trimmer instead of crimper and laughed again the second time! You are so cute and I love the bloopers! So the answer is: You said paper trimmer instead of crimper! Keep up the great videos – you are a bright and shining star! Renee Winch
September 12th, 2009 at 11:47 am
Hi Andrea!
After the first “oops”, you continued to use the paper crimper and called it the “paper trimmer”. I hope I’m right and I hope I win!! I love today’s tutorial. Thank YOU!!
September 12th, 2009 at 12:02 pm
Super great card and tutorial! I really must have this paper. You show so many gorgeous projects with it.
September 12th, 2009 at 12:03 pm
I caught the one where you said ‘sticky strip’ instead of snail adhesive, and ‘paper trimmer’ instead of crimper, but I loved the video and I’ll have to try it. Thanks for posting!
September 12th, 2009 at 2:08 pm
Loved the concept and the video. I like the “bloopers”, in fact, I wouldn’t ever retape, just leave them in! I did catch you said sticky strip instead of snail, but if I hadn’t been listening for it I wouldn’t have caught it. Thanks for sharing.
September 12th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Well…if you hadn’t mentioned that there were some bloopers…I probably would have even noticed…..but the paper crimper was one (and a tool that I love, but keep forgetting to use…) and when you said sticky strip rather than snail adhesive. Your tutorials make it all look SO easy and fun. I’ll be trying this one this afternoon. Thanks!
September 12th, 2009 at 3:10 pm
Thanks for the Friday video. I have made the “old” style envelope holder so look forward to trying this new version.
September 12th, 2009 at 3:50 pm
what a beautiful card. Thank you for sharing your videos, too. I heard you call the snail sticky strip and call the crimper a trimmer. no worries, keeps it real!
September 12th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
This is another great idea of yours! Now I know what I am doing for my christmas cards this year! Thanks for sharing.
September 12th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
I absolutely love the idea! You and your sister are awesome and very creative! The video was great and I had to watch it 3 times to catch any oops. I have to admit after watching the 2nd time, I had to cheat and look to see where every else thought it was and I finally found it the 3rd time, when you call the snail, sticky strip. Had you not mentioned it I would have never know.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for all your wonderful work on the planner…I HOPE I WIN!!!
Thanks again
September 12th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
I noticed you said sticky strip one time instead of snail adhesive and then you said paper trimmer 2 or 3 times instead of paper crimper.
Enjoy the video tutorial.
September 12th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
What a great project. I didn’t even mind when you called the crimper a paper trimmer a couple of times or when you said sticky strip instead of snail. I will give this a try for my gift cards!!!
September 12th, 2009 at 5:52 pm
Great tutorial – just love all your cards and tutorials. I found the infamous paper trimmer/crimper and sticky strip for snail adhesives. Now I’m off to see what others found! How fun! Thanks for sharing your talents with us. I am not a demo.
September 12th, 2009 at 6:00 pm
Loved the project. I’m going to make one right now.
The mistake was the size of the Whisper White paper should have been 3 1/8 x 4 5/8 and I didn’t think was a mistake was having a difficult time getting the top note over the envelope. Your videos and projects are very nice.
September 12th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
I caught the Sticky Strip and the Paper Trimmer missteps but they are no big deal, you barely notice since you’re seeing what you are doing at the same time. Awesome video! I wish my nails looked that nice in my tutorials-I might need to go get a manicure before I make another! Thanks for the chance to win a class planner!
September 12th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
I love the card. Great idea making the envelope with DSP. I will have to try that one.
I remember the trimmer instead of the crimmper – twice.
The Sticky Strip Tape instead of the snail.
Thanks for sharing.
)
September 12th, 2009 at 8:16 pm
You said paper trimmer, but meant paper crimper…twice…oops
Tammy
Love your tutorials!
September 12th, 2009 at 8:49 pm
I heard you call the snail adhesive “sticky strip” in the 2nd part of sealing the DP into the envelope…only because I was really, really listening to what you said to see if I could hear something wrong. I’m sure I normally wouldn’t have even caught it if you hadn’t said there was something wrong! Love this idea…just have to find someone here that has the top note to cut me some!!
September 12th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Again, another great tutorial!
Sticky strip instead of snail adhesive and you called the paper crimper a paper trimmer twice. Also you said you were grabbing the stamp-a-ma-jig when you were just grabbing the plastic stmaping sheet, but I’m not sure if that really counts! Only if you are being REALLY picky! Anyway, I love it!
September 12th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
I love this project and will definitely be making several of them for the holidays!!! Thanks for the video tutorial…. I wouldn’t have noticed the bloopers if you didn’t mention them! Have a great weekend!
September 12th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
I promise i didnt peek. You said sticky strip when you meant snail when adding adhesive to the envelope flap. I probably wouldn’t have noticed the trimmer instead of crimper if you hadn’t mentioned it.
September 12th, 2009 at 11:18 pm
This is a wonderful project! I will have to make some for the holidays! Thanks for sharing your ideas. I always look forward to your blog updates.
Hope that is the answer you are looking for.
As for your bloopers — I think you made the same mistake twice — with calling your crimper the paper cutter.
September 12th, 2009 at 11:44 pm
I think I caught both the “mistakes”. The first was when you referred to the SNAIL adhesive as “sticky strip” and the second was when you referred to the crimper as the “paper trimmer”.

Hi Andrea,
I love your project and the tutorial!! Your two OOPS…Sticky Strip instead of SNAIL, and Paper Trimmer instead of Paper Crimper. Thank you again for sharing your talents with us! Mary
September 13th, 2009 at 2:18 am
Love all your tutorials especially the bloopers.
You said Paper trimmer twice and sticky strip instead of snail.
Think it’s great anyway
Hilda
September 13th, 2009 at 7:34 am
You called your crimper a paper trimmer….
You are so talented!! Thank you for all you do for the stamping world.!!
September 13th, 2009 at 8:52 am
Hi Andrea,
I only caught two- the sticky strip instead of the snail and the paper trimmer instead of the paper crimper. They really don’t bother me as I just enjoy watching your tutorials. Thanks for sharing- mistakes and all. Have a great weekend. No time for crafting.. just canning for me.
September 13th, 2009 at 10:50 am
Love this idea with the many options that the card can be used for. It would be awesome for a money gift card at holiday time. My life is full of bloopers when it comes to crafting so I can totally relate to the minor errors made. The one I detected was the use of “sticky” tape when you meant snail adhesive. Keep us inspired as well as laughing.
September 13th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Andrea,
Your nails look great. I can’t believe how hard on yourself you are. The video is great and we all watch you use snail, so what you call it sticky strip. Keep making videos, love your work!!!
Janell
September 13th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
Cute project Andrea; I’m headed to my stampin’ room to make one as soon as I finish typing!
)
From what I could tell, you said Sticky Strip instead of Snail and you called your crimper a paper trimmer, but honestly, if you hadn’t mentioned that you had some bloopers in your video, I probably wouldn’t have noticed.
September 13th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Andrea,
Another cute project. I wouldn’t worry about the minor bloopers. My brains tend to absorb what I see more than what’s being said. As I get older, I am calling things by the wrong name more & more. LOL
September 13th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
I am definetly do to do this project. I love your videos bloopers and all.
The bloopers I caught were: saying paper trimmer instead of paper crimper and sticky strip instead of snail adheshive.
September 13th, 2009 at 5:36 pm
2xs on the paper trimmer instead of paper crimper and I know you didn’t mean to say sticky strip either.
September 13th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Loved the card!! I will use it! You said Sticky Strip instead of SNAIL on the bottom flap, no biggie, we all make mistakes. Thanks for sharing! Sue
September 13th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Hello, I love this idea. thanks for sharing
September 13th, 2009 at 7:15 pm
I will definitely be making some of these! SO cute! Honestly, I never would have picked up on the bloopers if I hadn’t been so intent to find them
You gave away the oops with the paper trimmer and crimper, the only other one I caught was the Sticky tape instead of SNAIL. Thanks for the wonderful tutorial!
September 13th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
I had to go back and watch it twice too…I was too engrossed in the project to catch it the first time! (sticky strip instead of snail adhesive) No one would have noticed if you hadn’t challenged us!
Thanks for sharing this great demonstratable project!
Lisa Reber
September 13th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
Well, I didn’t find the second blooper. I caught the first one before you printed the “oops”. I’m going to watch it again to see if I can find it. The envelope is a great, easy idea. Thanks for sharing.
September 13th, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Trimmer instead of crimper, but I was so busy saying WOW WOW WOW that the blooper didn’t matter to me one stinkin’ bit! LOL What a great tutorial – thanks so much for taking the time to do it. I love this project, please know I’ll be trying it! The reindeer is tooooo cute!
September 14th, 2009 at 12:20 am
Hi Andrea; what a lovely project! I thinkyou said “sticky strip” rather than SNAIL when attaching the lower flap, and referred to the paper crimper as a paper trimmer. But who cares?!!!! Your videos are so well done and so clear that you could play music in a foreign language as accompaniment and we would still be able to understand your instructions. Thanks again for another wonderful project.
September 14th, 2009 at 7:23 am
well, I am guessing it is when you said Sticky Strip instead of snail adhesive. and then you said paper trimmer instead of paper crimper.
But girl…your videos are still the best. even with your “bloopers” as you call them. I probably would have never noticed. i am usually staring at what you are doing.
September 14th, 2009 at 8:11 am
This is a wonderful idea for a card. I will be using it for a project. Thanks for your inspiration.
September 14th, 2009 at 11:56 am
Hi, Andrea! Loved the project! Your 2nd “0ops” was when you said “Sticky Strip”, yet you were using Snail. I suppose either one would work though!! Enjoy the videos so much – keep’em coming!! Thanks for sharing!
September 14th, 2009 at 1:19 pm
I love this project! I will probably use these for gifts this year. I always read the other comments before I submit mine because I might want to add to one of them so it was very hard not to read first. I don’t want to be a cheater!
I noticed three things in your video. First, you referred to the snail adhesive as sticky strip. You also called your paper crimper as a paper trimmer. The “oops” one was when you were having trouble inserting the envelope into the top note.
Thanks for sharing and for reminding us that everyone makes mistakes sometimes!
September 14th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
Love this, thank you so much for sharing!!! The blooper I caught was you saying you were feeding the paper into the “paper trimmer” instead of the crimper.
It’s all good, such an easy slip of the tongue!
Liz K
September 14th, 2009 at 11:51 pm
What a great idea for a gift card. The two “oops” were in regards to a paper trimmer and sticky strip. And if you make any mistakes it just means that you are human. Thanks for the great video. I am looking forward to many more.
September 15th, 2009 at 9:09 am
andrea – you never cease to amaze me! your videos are so professional – i don’t think i’ve ever caught a “blooper” before! the only thing i noticed was paper trimmer and i think sticky strip? doesn’t matter – i’m a huge fan and appreciate all the effort you put into you videos!
i would love to alter the dimensions to suit a 4×6 holiday photo…better sharpen math sklls!
September 15th, 2009 at 9:37 am
Andrea your videos are just awesome and I really don’t think you should worry so much about the bloopers. I get so wrapped up in the project and watching you work, I don’t even notice them. I did catch the paper trim/crimper one before the oops came up but it is just so minor. The other one I just didn’t even catch. I was way too wrapped up in the cool project to pay that close attention to any minor mistakes you might have made. I just love this project and I’m definitely casing this one! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!
September 15th, 2009 at 11:02 am
I love how “sticky strip” now comes out of the SNAIL applicator. No biggie at all Andrea. You just happen to have it caught forever on tape. When those bloopers happen in real life they go by so fast that they’re hardly noticed.
This was a cool project. Thank you for making it easy for me to follow all of the steps.
Mary
September 15th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
I found that at the point you were sealing the bottom of the envelope you called snail adhesive “sticky strip” and then you also refered to your paper crimper as a paper trimmer. Regardless of the bloopers, I find that your tutorials are very easy to watch. You explain things well. I hope that one day my demonstrations will be as polished. Hope I win.

Andrea, your video was awesome and love this Envelope Gift Card Holder. Only because you said to make note of your bloopers did I even notice them. Heard you say sticky strip when you were using Snail adhesive to seal the bottom flap. Also heard you say paper trimmer twice when you meant paper crimper. Your video and instructions are so detailed we can ignore the small bloopers. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and for the chance to win your Christmas Stamp Camp for free!
September 18th, 2009 at 1:43 pm
Hi Andrea,
I love your videos and your blog and all your great Ideas to making very nice cards! I’m a German Stampin’Up! Demo I won’t understand every single word of your video so that it’s hard for me to find bloopers – but I thought they only show that nobody is perfect and from watching your video I learn a lot tricks and new technics! Hope you give me the chance to win the great price without me notice your oops and bloopers ;o)) Thanks a lot !
Have a nice weekend

Cute Cute cute… & simple as well. Love this. I can now add this to my gift card box. I was at a team meeting & we did something similar with the scallop box. Love how this looks like a gift box.

Andrea, thanks heaps for the Great tutorial!! I will be using this for Stamp Club on Monday night ..
)
I found your “BLOOPERS” but only because you pointed out they were there.. the sticky strip instead of the snail adhesive & the paper trimmer instead of the crimper. and the little “oops” at the end
I would love to win a Christmas Stamp Camp Class by Email free (or planner version I am a Stampin’ Up! demo in Australia
thanks for all the great ideas..
October 20th, 2009 at 9:32 am
You made a very teeny tiny oops on the snail adhesive verses the sticky strip, but either one would work well. Thanks for sharing another clever and much appreciated project! Brenda
October 24th, 2009 at 6:54 am
I love your videos & awesome projects. Your tutorials are always so well explained. You make everything look so easy. I probably would never have noticed any “bloopers” without your pointing them out to us. At least it makes your videos more realistic by leaving the bloopers in & having us try to find them. Well…I think I found two of them “You said paper trimmer twice when using the crimper” and the second blooper would be “that you said sticky strip instead of snail adhesive”. We still knew what you meant. lol Thanks for a fun challenge & great tutorial.
November 3rd, 2009 at 9:35 pm
Great project! Love it!
You said:
Paper trimmer instead crimper and sticky strip instead of snail adhesive. Thanks for sharing your ideas and for being so generous.

Andrea, love the tutorial! A friend of mine told me about your site, it’s absolutely great! Thanks for sharing!
