Memories Your Way: Christmas Jingle Tri-Shutter Album
Posted on: Friday, August 21st, 2009
As I was blog browsing the other day I noticed that some people were already starting to post Christmas project pictures. That got me thinking about how quickly the summer has passed, that back to school is just around the corner and before you know it Christmas will be here. Since I always like to get a jump start on my Christmas projects I decided that there’s no better time than now to get started. Last year I created my Christmas “I Wish” Mini Scrapbook Album and it was such a hit with friends, family and of course my customers and blog readers that I decided to create another kit using Stampin’ Up!’s current Simply Scrappin’ Kit “Christmas Jingle”.
Of course my long-time readers know that rather than following existing templates that are widely available on the internet, I like to make things “my own” and create my own designs. While my designs are often inspired by things I’ve seen, those inspirations are my “jumping off” point – which means that I might start there, but I work it and work it until I can call a design my own. Which is what I did with this album. I came across a something called a “tri-shutter” card on splitcoaststampers (you can see it here) and fell in love with the “tri-shutter” concept. Of course it’s a standard-sized card (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) which doesn’t work as an album. So I pulled out my sketch pad and some scrap CS and got to work seeing how I could incorporate the tri-shutter concept into my mini album.

You can see a bit of the album open above. It’s a 6″ x 8″ mini scrapbook album that has room for 5 pictures and some journaling. You can see what the full album looks like in my video below. Rather than doing a pdf tutuorial for it this year, I’ve decided to offer it as the first in a line of new products I’m testing out which I call “Memories Your Way”. When you order the Memories Your Way: Christmas Jingle Tri-Shutter Album you receive a completely constructed album which you then embellish YOUR way with the embellishments provided in your kit. So if you don’t like the way I combined the patterns or you don’t like the CS colors on which I matted it, or the die cuts I chose – you can change it to YOUR tastes. The wonderful news is that because this is a finished product, I can sell it worldwide. Isn’t that exciting? I wish I could take credit for this brilliant kit idea, but I actually got the idea from the blogs of a couple of Stampin’ Up!’s top-ranked demonstrators who are doing something similar. I decided it would be a nice thing to be able to offer my own blog readership & customers, with my own projects of course (I would NEVER copy & sell someone else’s projects in case you’re wondering). Of course I’m adding my own twist – the name “Memories Your Way” is my own brainstorm, but what’s really different about my kit is that as part of your kit you’ll receive a video tutorial on DVD along with a template & cutting guide that shows you how to make this album from start to finish, so that once you’ve finished embellishing the one you purchased from me, you can make as many more as you want with whatever you have on hand.
Now before you ask, at this point in time I am not planning on selling a separate pdf tutorial for this album – as I mentioned above, this is going to be part of a new line-up of products that is completely different from my Stamp Classes by Email and class planners. Besides, normally you would pay between $22.95 – $24.95 CAN for the pdf class alone, with this product you pay $32.95 CAN + shipping (price revised Nov. 2009) and you get the album too! You can’t beat that! Not to mention the fact that the way this album is constructed is kind of hard to show with pictures alone. If there’s enough demand, I may consider just selling the video tutorial on DVD. You can see what the full album looks like in the video below.
There are several ordering options available – you can check them out and order your own kit from my Sunny Stampin’ Store. If you’re part of my downline you’ll be receiving the video tutorial for free of course – but you won’t be able to use the free download method you normally use from my store & Demo to Demo site - you’ll be sent the DVD tutorial by mail.
Have a great weekend!

I don’t scrapbook, but that album is cute enough to make me want to start!!! It would also make a great graduation album for those who couldn’t come to my kid’s graduation.. I could print out the pictures of the ceremony, and use it on the album… and it looks flat enough to mail without costing an arm and a leg!!
August 22nd, 2009 at 5:53 pm
