Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year…..
Posted: Friday, December 18th, 2009 | Comments
Before I tell you about today’s card, I wanted to take a minute and thank you all on behalf of both Soph and I, for your wonderful support and encouragement throughout the year. While blogging is a lot of fun, and a great way to share our creations with all of you, YOU are the ones that really make it worthwhile. We want you to know how much we appreciate each and every one of you that takes the time to visit our blog on a regular basis, and how we especially appreciate it when you take the time to leave a comment. It always perks us up to read your comments – let’s face it, it makes us feel good to know that you enjoy our artwork and that you enjoy stopping by for a visit…so please keep it up
After much discussion and deliberation, Soph and I have decided that we are going to take a little “vacation” from blogging over the upcoming holidays. The last three and a half months have been EXCEEDINGLY busy – both for our business and in our personal lives. We’re both feeling a tad burnt-out. We definitely need a vacation, and we need and want to spend some time with our families. So today’s post is going to be our last post until the New Year. Don’t worry though, we’re not quitting blogging or anything, it’s just a little rest. We’ll be back posting again on Monday, January 4th. We have some exciting things planned for the New Year….lots of great projects….we’ll be filming our videos again….we’ll have some exciting give-aways…and a few surprises up our sleeve….so don’t forget about us okay? *lol*.
Now on to today’s card…
- Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Sahara Sand CS and fold it in half using your bone folder to create your card base.
- Round the top corners of a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Holiday Lounge DP with your 3/16″ corner rounder punch. Center and stick the DP onto the Sahara Sand card front. Set aside for a moment.
- Take a 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Sahara Sand CS and round the top corners using your 3/16″ corner rounder punch. Run an embossing buddy over the CS.
- Ink up the Sassy Sparkles Jumbo Stampin’ Around Wheel on an Encore Gold ink pad and wheel it twice across the top 3/4 of the CS. Leave the bottom 1/4 of the CS plain.
- Sprinkle on gold embossing powder and heat emboss with your heat tool.
- Lay a 4 1/2″ piece of Bermuda Bay Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon across the bottom of the Sahara Sand CS piece (with the polka dot side facing downwards). Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down using Snail adhesive.
- Take a 6″ piece of the Bermuda Bay ribbon and tie it in a knot around the first piece.
- Pierce a hole in the top left and right corners of the Sahara Sands CS piece and insert a gold brad into each hole. Set aside for a moment.
- Stamp the “joy” ornament from the Delightful Decorations stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White CS using Bermuda Bay Classic ink. Punch it out with the ornament punch.
- Punch a hole at the top of the ornament with a 1/16″ handheld punch.
- Stick the ornament to the Sahara Sand CS piece, about 1/2″ above the ribbon with three Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Thread a 6″ piece of gold cord through the hole at the top of the ornament and bring the ends up over the top of the Sahara Sand CS piece and stick them down to the back of the CS with Scotch Tape.
- Center and stick the Sahara Sand CS piece to the Holiday Lounge DP with four Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!
We hope you enjoyed this card! Just a quick note, we will be checking our email over the holidays EXCEPT for Dec. 24th, 25th, and 26th. See you in the New Year! Oh, and don’t forget to check out the winners of the Valentine’s give away in the post below.

Second card from Stamper’s Club
Posted: Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 | Comments
Last week I showed you the first project of my rather unconventional Christmas card. This is the second project of my Stampers Club from last month. Once again it does not follow Christmas tradtion lol. Well, I always was a bit of a rebel. Now it just comes out in my cards
Now I am sad to say that there won’t be videos for a little while to accompany the projects. We are heading towards Christmas, and are in a rush to prepare for all our January releases. We have a really exciting line-up of projects coming up, but of course that means that our time is becoming very limited.
We are leaving to be with family in less then a week and while away we will not be able to film (imagine trying to film a quiet video while surrounded by 8 children and 10 adults lol). We will still be showing projects, though probably not as frequently. So I apologize to all our wonderful readers, and hope you will bear with us through this busy holiday.
Ok, now on to my not so conventional Christmas card 2.
Directions:
- With your BigShot and Scallop Oval die, cut out an oval out of Whisper White and Basic Black CS. Discard the Whisper White scallop section, and the center of the Basic Black Scallop.
- Now take your Whisper White oval and sponge it with Bermuda Bay Classic ink over the whole surface. Next Sponge the oval with Night of Navy. Make sure that you leave the center unsponged with the darker color. Finally you will sponge with Basic Black Classic ink along the very outer edge.
- Once the oval is dry you will take your Snowflake from the Serene Snowflake stamp set and ink it with a sponge dauber and some Platinum Shimmer Paint. Stamp the snowflake randomly over the oval. You should not need to re-ink after the first time.
- Once the oval is dry take your Versamark pad and sponge the entire surface of the oval. Sprinkle with Glassy Glaze Enamel (embossing pwd.) and heat with your heat tool. As soon as it is set repeat the process. You will add a total of 3 coats. As soon as your last layer is done, place the oval into the freezer. Leave it until it is very cold and brittle to the touch ( it may look curled at the edges, this is normal). When it is cold, immediately remove it and gently bend and straighten the oval. This will create cracks throught the surface. Do not be to vigorous or you will lose pieces of the enamel. If your piece does not crack well, then you may have waited too long after removing it from the freezer to start to bend. This step must be done immediately after removal from freezer.
- Now take your Whisper White card base and lightly sponge the edges with Night of Navy, next drag a Basic Black Classic ink across the edges.
- Take your Basic Black Scallop oval and determine which side you will have face up to match your center Whisper White oval. This step is essential or you may not find it fitting properly. Now add a touch of Platinum Shimmer paint with your sponge dauber to the correct side of your Basic Black Scallop Oval and glue it down to your card. Glue your Center Whisper White sponged oval to the center. Now with your 1/16″ hole punch, punch holes on either side of the Basic Black Scallop oval and insert your blue Rhinestone brads.
- Stamp out your Patterned Pines trees on Whisper White CS with Old Olive Classic ink. Cut out and sponge the edges with Night of Navy and then stick over the Oval frame with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp out your greeting and use your Modern Label punch to punch it out. Stick it on with glue dots. You are done!

Polar Bear Under a Night Sky
Posted: Saturday, December 12th, 2009 | Comments
I know, I know, I am once again posting super late. My only excuse is that a lot of my club ladies were coming by to pick up orders today, and I spent lots of time chatting, and not so much working. I decided that I would show you some of my Stamper’s Club projects. This is the first of three projects. It is my norm to make up 3 projects for my Club. Two cards and one 3-D item. This was my month to create totally non-traditional Christmas cards. I was a little nervous when the ladies arrived about what they would think of the projects, thankfully it was well recieved. So today you will see the first and then you will see the other’s in the next couple weeks. Now you may notice that the stars on the top of this one are not stamped, in fact they are punched. I admit here and now that I cheated and borrowed my daughter’s mini star punch that she got at the dollar store. All I can say is that when you have a room full of women, the worst thing you can do to them is say that they must cut and color a bunch of stamped stars. So in the interest of my health, I used the punch. The video will show this project with stamped stars. So I really hope you enjoy this weeks project
Directions:
- Stamp out your bear on Kraft CS with Versamark ink and emboss with white Stampin’ Emboss pwd. Cut out.
- Stamp out your Ice floe on a window sheet using your Basic Black Classic ink and then emboss with black Stampin’ Emboss pwd. Cut out.
- Stamp out 8 stars on SU watercolor paper with black Staz-On , color with your Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write marker and then blend the color using your water brush. Cut out.
- Stamp out your cup of cocoa on Whisper White CS with your Close to Cocoa Classic ink and then cut out.
- Now block off the top portion of your main image Whisper White circle (use piece of computer paper) and sponge the water using Bermuda Bay, Not Quite Navy and Basic Black Classic ink.
- Remove the mask and sponge the top sky area with Bermuda Bay and Not Quite Navy Classic ink.
- Attach you bear to the Ice Floe and then the Ice Floe and bear to the water using your Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Glue your stars to the sky.
- Now attach your mats to one another. The Bermuda Bay circle will be sponged with Not Quite Navy. The top Basic Black large scallop circle will be sponged with Platinum Shimmer paint.
- Mat your inner Whisper White CS on to your Basic Black large scallop circle back piece and sponge with Bermuda Bay Classic ink. With your Stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp your greeting. Now punch holes with the smallest hole on your Crop-a-Dile (it is a 1/8″ hole punch) and place the blue rhinestone brad through the holes to hold the card together. You are done.

Another Felt Flurry Christmas Card
Posted: Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 | Comments
Today I wanted to share with you another project I made using Stampin’ Up!’s felt flurries. Since the card is pretty easy and the felt flurry is applied in the exact same manner as for the card I posted yesterday, I decided not to do a video for today’s card (well actually, I didn’t have time to film a video today anyways….*lol*).
Directions:
-
Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Kraft CS and fold it in half using a bone folder.
-
Sponge the edges of your Kraft card with Soft Suede Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge.
-
Mat a 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Snowflake DP from the Merry Moments DP collection onto a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Real Red CS.
-
Center and stick the matted DP onto your Kraft card using Snail adhesive.
-
Take a 1″ x 4 1/4″ strip of Very Vanilla CS and spone the edges with Soft Suede Classic ink. Pierce a row of holes along both the top and bottom edge of the Very Vanilla CS strip.
-
Stamp the Merry Christmas greeting onto the Very Vanilla CS, towards the right edge of the CS strip in Soft Suede Classic ink. Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
-
Center and stick the Very Vanilla CS strip onto a 1 1/8″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Real Red CS.
-
Stick the matted greeting to the card front about 1 1/4″ up from the bottom edge of the card.
-
Stick a red felt flurry snowflake onto the DP just above the CS strip (and towards the right side of the card) using a mini glue dot.
-
Stick a large cream half-back pearl in the center of the felt flurry snowflake using a mini glue dot. You’re done!
The little coordinating tag that you see was die cut from Stampin’ Up!’s Two Tags die using the Big Shot.
I hope you enjoyed this card.
