WOW Wednesday: Meander Book
Posted: Wednesday, May 19th, 2010 | CommentsI came across this really cool Tutorial the other day and decided that I would really like to try it out and point it out to you guys. It makes this adorable little book with 16 pages which you can decorate to your hearts content. I love the fact that this could be used for so many things. Best friend books for my daughter, Pet condolence where you put pictures of the love pet, This is also fantastic for a mini brag book for my purse. This particular book is not decorated because I am giving it to my daughter to fill with pictures of her and her friends. We are moving in just 6 weeks and she really wants to have a place for photo’s. I have provided the link to the video tutorial and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. I already have to make up more for a bunch of little gifts
. Take care and have a wonderful Wednesday!
Hugs,

Butterfly Easel Card
Posted: Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 | CommentsWow a double post between Andrea and me! My card today is once again an easel card. It is actually one of the cards which I designed for my April Stamper’s Club. I chose to do an easel card since I have not done one with the ladies yet, but it was also so that I could show off the larger butterfly which is mounted on a paper spring to give it extra movement as well as to allow it to have more spread apart wings. It was fun and simple to make, and it also heralds in my newest obsession…..3-D and pop-up cards. Wait till you see the one that I designed for our next Online Class! It is so fun and funky! Well anyways, I am always looking for new challenges for myself, I love to push my card making to the next level, and I have decided to drag you all along with me lol
I don’t plan on always showing challenging or 3-D cards, but you will definitely be noticing them sprinkled here and there. Hope you enjoy today’s project.

Valentine’s Bouquet
Posted: Thursday, January 28th, 2010 | CommentsToday I wanted to share with you a super simple but really fun-to-make Valentine’s bouquet. The last time I was at the dollar store (Dollarama here in Ontario – not sure if they have this chain elsewhere), I found the most adorable Valentine’s sugar cookies. They came in a box of 5, beautifully decorated, and individually wrapped in cellophane. I immediately thought they would look fantastic as part of a Valentine’s bouquet, so of course, I had to buy them. My vase, also came from that same dollar store.
I then headed over to our local craft store and bought some wooden dowels, white acrylic paint and glass beads.
ETA (Jan 29th): If your dollar store doesn’t have cookies like this then you could also use some of those pretty foil-wrapped chocolate hearts you can buy – there are all sorts of different kinds to choose from at the dollar store, bulk food store or grocery store.
You can download a pdf handout HERE. The pdf includes a photo, supply list and step-by-step written directions.
You can watch the video on how I made the flowers below:
Here’s how I made my flowers:
- Take your wooden dowels and paint them white using a foam brush and white acrylic paint. Set them aside to dry.
- Dry emboss five 4″ x 4″ pieces of Whisper White CS using the Perfect Polka Dot Textured Impressions folder and your big shot. Do the same for three 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Real Red CS and two 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Pretty in Pink CS.
- Dry emboss three 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Real Red CS and two 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of Pretty in Pink CS using your Big Shot and the small polka dot textured impressions plate from the Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds I Collection.
- You will now need your Big Shot, extended cutting plates and the Stampin’ Up! Flower Folds Bigz XL die. Die cut three Real Red and two Pretty in Pink flowers from the LARGEST of the flowers out of the textured 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ CS pieces. Die cut three more Real Red and two more Pretty in Pink flowers from the LARGEST of the flowers out of non-textured 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of CS.
- Die cut three Pretty in Pink and two Real Red flowers from the flower that is the next size down using the textured 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ pieces of CS.
- Now die cut five Whisper White flowers from the second smallest flower, out of the 4″ x 4″ textured pieces of CS.
- Stick the cookie to the center of each of the Whisper White flowers using Sticky Strip.
- Stick two of the white flowers to a medium-sized flower (three Pretty in Pink and two Real Red) using Sticky Strip.
- Stick the medium flowers to the large texturized flowers (three Real Red and two Pretty in Pink) using Sticky Strip.
- Take one of the plain large Real Red flowers. Lay it on a piece of scrap paper, using a glue gun at the low setting, place a dollop of glue in the center of the flower. Press the dowel into the glue and then place some more the glue on top. Take one of the large Red Flowers with the cookie and sandwich it on top of the flower/glue/dowel. Press them gently together and then set aside to dry. Repeat for all the flowers.
- Tie a 16″ piece of Whisper White organza ribbon in a bow around each dowel.
- Place the clear glass beads into your vase and then arrange the flowers inside. Shorten the dowels with a saw if necessary. You’re done!
Hope you enjoyed today’s project!

Chocolate Truffle Punch Project
Posted: Friday, January 22nd, 2010 | CommentsETA: Someone did just bring it to my attention that there is an error in the box dimension that I offered. It is actually 5″ x 7″ and the inside box space is 3″ x 2″ inside so that it can fit 2 truffles. I am so sorry for the confusion.
Phew, what a week! We have been having so much fun in the online classroom, and it has gone by in a whirlwind. It has also been intensly busy, but that is actually not the reason why we have not posted for the past couple of days. With all the video uploading that we have been doing for the online classroom, we have been having some real issues with our internet provider. Apparantly they don’t like the fact that we have been uploading massive video’s to the classroom, and have been trying to limit our bandwidth. Well we are back on the air so to speak, and I can finally share the project that I had originaly planned for Wednesday.
So, today’s project features a chocolate truffle punch project. I made the box so that it could hold 2 large truffles. It is perfect as a little gift to leave on a loved one’s pillow. The PDF will show you the template for the box. The inspiration for this project came from a Quickutz die. Everyone knows how I love to take an existing die and create the same thing with my punches. This way, anyone can make it. So I hope you enjoy this week’s Punch Project, and I will see you again next week!

Hershey Marshmallow Treat Box
Posted: Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 | CommentsToday’s project is a quick and easy box I designed to hold the Hershey Marshmallow Hearts. This is a gift I plan on giving my kids this Valentine’s. I’ve decided that this year instead of only celebrating Valentine’s on the day itself, I’m going to do a countdown to Valentine’s and surprise my kids with a variety of treats and Valentine’s related activities….some crafts, we’ll bake together….and whatever else I can think of. If you have any ideas, please leave them in the comments section. I’d love to come up with 14 different things. Actually, here’s a challenge for you all, give me 14 different ideas that can be used with kids for a countdown to Valentine’s, and I’ll design and post a modified “advent” calendar type idea for a countdown to Valentine’s day. Now don’t feel like you each have to come up with all 14 ideas – a handful from each of you would be fine – what I’m hoping is that between ALL my readers, I’ll be able to get a list of at least 14 ideas. Sound good?
You can download the pdf handout HERE. It has a full supply list, template & step-by-step written directions.
You can watch a video of how today’s project was made below.
Directions:
-
Take a 2 ¾” x 5” piece of Kraft CS and a 2 ⅝” x 2 ¾” piece of Kraft CS and randomly stamp the “tic, tac, toe” pattern all over both pieces in Very Vanilla Craft ink. Fill in any empty spaces with the small heart from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set. Set these pieces aside to dry.
-
Score, crease & cut your 4 ½” x 6 ½” and your 3 ¼” x 11 ¾” pieces of Chocolate Chip CS as indicated by the templates on the handout.
-
Place some sticky strip along the outer side and center bottom flaps of the 4 ½” x 6 ⅛” piece, and on the small bottom flaps. Remove the backing from the Sticky strip on the small bottom flaps and stick them to the inside of the side center panels.
Remove the Sticky Strip from the bottom center flap and stick the outer side flaps to the bottom center flap. -
Remove the backing from the Sticky Strip on the side flaps and then stick your pocket onto one panel of the 3 ¼” x 11 ¾” piece of Chocolate Chip CS, making sure the bottom of the pocket is aligned with the bottom of the panel. Your box is now assembled. Set aside for a moment.
-
Stamp the scalloped greeting image onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS in Basic Brown Classic ink. Color in where desired using a blender pen and Real Red Classic ink.
-
Punch out the image with the Scallop Circle Punch. Using your 2-way glue pen, add Dazzling Diamonds glitter where desired.
Clip a small silver library clip to the scalloped greeting and set aside for a moment. -
Dry emboss a scrap of Real Red CS using your Big Shot and the Polka dot Textured Impressions folder. Punch out two sets of hearts using the Heart to Heart punch. Set the hearts aside for a moment.
-
Center and stick the 2 ¾” x 5” piece of Kraft CS onto a 3” x 5 ¼” piece of Real Red CS. Lay a 7” piece of ¾” Real Red Polka dot ribbon (with the polka dot side down) across the Kraft CS (from top to bottom), about a ¼” from the left edge of the Kraft CS. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the Real Red CS and stick down using Snail adhesive.
-
Stick the matted Kraft CS to the front panel of your box with Sticky Strip.
-
Stick the scalloped oval greeting with the clip to the box front with 3 Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Stick the two hearts to the box front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The box front is now decorated.
-
Center and stick the 2 ⅝” x 2 ¾” piece of Kraft CS to a 2 ¾” x 2 ⅞” piece of Real Red CS. Stick two of the embossed hearts to the bottom right corner of the Kraft CS piece using Snail adhesive.
-
Center and stick the matted Kraft CS piece to the pocket front. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project!
P.S. I had a few people leave a comment asking me where I got the candy for yesterday’s project – it was from Bulk Barn, a chain of bulk food stores.
