Just Believe Card & the Winners of the Class & Workshop Give-Away
Posted: Monday, July 19th, 2010 | CommentsMy new stamps are in the house! Woohoo! I have been having an absolutely AMAZING time creating with all my new stuff. In the last day and half I’ve been in a real stampin’ groove. It’s amazing how creativity starts flowing when you have new stuff to play with *LOL*.
Now instead of struggling to come up with card ideas, I’m having the opposite problem – I can’t stamp fast enough to keep up with all my ideas *lol*! At least you know I’ll have LOTS to share with you over the next few weeks.
Today’s card is a clean & simple card.
-
Take a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly Kraft CS) and fold it half with your bone folder.
-
Scallop the bottom edge of the card with the Scallop Edge Border punch.
-
Stamp the large silhouette flower stamp in Very Vanilla Craft ink across a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Riding Hood Red CS. Set aside to dry.
-
Die cut the the label out of Very Vanilla CS using a Big Shot and the longest die from the Matbook Bigz XL die.
-
Stamp the greeting from Occasional Quotes (Level 3 hostess set) onto the Very Vanilla CS label in Basic Black Classic ink. Use your Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
-
Stick a medium cream half-back pearl on either side of the label using a mini glue dot for each (the pearls are from the Pretties kit – which is now unfortunately retired).
-
Center and stick the stamped Riding Hood Red CS piece to the Crumb Cake card front.
-
Take a 7″ piece of Chantilly 1/2″ Crochet Trim and lay it across the bottom of the Riding Hood Red CS. Bring the ends of the trim around to the inside of the card front and stick them down. Hide the ends of the ribbon by cutting a 3 1/2″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Very Vanilla CS and centering & sticking it on the inside of the card front. Stick a second piece on the inside of the card.
-
Stick your label to the Riding Hood Red CS with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Position it about 1/4″ above the trim and about 3/4″ in from the right edge of the card. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project!
The winners of the Serene Sunset Workshop Planner and the Watercolor Trio Class:
I’ve really got to stop designating Friday’s as the day that my winners are announced and move them to Monday’s. Somehow by the end of the week there are so many little things that I need to wrap up before the weekend starts that announcing winners completely slips my mind. So I apologize. And from now on, Monday’s will be the day.
As a quick refresher, I am announcing the winners for the products shown in THIS post.
The five winners announced below win a copy of BOTH. To claim your prize please email me at andrea@sunnystampin.com. Be sure to state that you are the July Blog Winner, and please let me know in the body of your email whether you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator or not.
And the winners are…….

Hi Andrea & Sophia! Love the preview tease of the Serene Sunset workshop planner (great name, btw) and the Watercolor Trio Class Planner is great! It’s great that you offer this service to demos – I’ve ordered a few in the past, some just for me, others to share with my set of stampers. Having all of the directions, suggestions, cost breakdowns really is helpful! I’d love to win this month’s set of projects (keeping my fingers crossed…).

So Kind Card & the Winners of the Island Oasis Class
Posted: Monday, June 21st, 2010 | CommentsI hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend. I had a nice, albeit busy weekend. We spent Father’s Day at my brother- and sister-in-law’s house for a Father’s Day BBQ. It was such a beautiful sunny day and the kids all had a riot getting soaked with water guns.
Although I wasn’t feeling very inspired when I sat down to stamp today, it turns out I actually like today’s card. Here’s how I made it:
-
Cut a 3″ x 5″ piece of the polka dot pattern from the Tropical Party DP collection and sponge it with So Saffron Classic ink. I found that the white background was too stark which is why I ended up sponging it. It really softened the look of it.
-
Take a 2″ x 5″ piece of Old Olive CS and scallop it using the slit punch (which I just discovered will be retiring at the end of this month).
-
Stick the DP to the the scalloped CS strip using Snail adhesive. Pierce a hole in the center of each scallop.
-
Lay a 6″ piece of ribbon across the DP so that it covers the seam between the DP and the CS. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down with Snail adhesive.
-
Center and stick the DP to a Certainly Celery card created by folding a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Certainly CS in half.
-
Center and stamp the greeting along the top of the DP in Basic Black Classic ink. Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
-
Tie a 14″ piece of Real Red Grosgrain ribbon in a bow around the first piece of ribbon.
-
Die cut the medium and small complete butterflies from the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die, out of Real Red CS using the Big Shot.
-
Dry emboss the butterflies with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder and your Big Shot.
-
Stick the smaller butterfly to a scrap of paper with Dotto adhesive.
-
Pat a VersaMark pad all over the butterfly. Sprinkle on Heat and Stick powder and then melt it with a heat tool. Sprinkle on red Chunky Essentials glitter and then heat set.
-
Stick the smaller butterfly to the larger butterfly with a mini glue dot.
-
Stick the larger butterfly to the card front as shown in the picture above, using two mini glue dots.
-
Create the butterfly antennae and the trail with black peel & stick rhinestone brads. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s card.
Just a quick update – you probably won’t be seeing any cards posted by Soph for a few weeks as moving week is finally here for her. Her craft supplies get officially packed on Wednesday (and her other house stuff too, but we all know what’s really important right? *wink*). Her move-in date is on June 28th. Anyways, we’re going to temporarily suspend our planned weekly features for the summer since it’s going to be quite challenging to try to stick to a schedule over the next few months. We’re pretty much just going to share with you whatever we’ve been creating.

“Fast & Fabulous” Card & Some Winners
Posted: Friday, June 18th, 2010 | CommentsWhew, what a week. I am so happy Friday is finally here! I apologize for the lack of posting this week – it was due to some of that “summer” and “end-of-school-year” craziness. Monday I was on a field trip with my son’s Gr. 6 class to Niagara Falls. We actually went to quite a few different places in the Niagara Region, and the Falls was just one of them. That was quite a long day. We left the school at 8 am and returned close to 7 pm. Tuesday was pretty much re-cuperating and doing administrative catch-up. Wednesday I was on a field trip with my daughter’s Gr. 1 class to the African Lion Safari. Although we had a great time the weather was alternately smoking hot or thunder showers. By the end of the day I had a raging headache (I don’t know how her teacher does it!). I went to bed early on Wednesday, and then when I woke up on Thursday still had a headache. I took something for it, ate bowl of Cheerios with milk and then next thing I knew I was throwing up and so dizzy that I couldn’t even stand. I had to crawl back to my bedroom. The odd thing was that my hands started itching like crazy. It was the strangest thing I’d ever felt. Although my stomach was ok the rest of the day, my head sure wasn’t. I still had a raging headache & felt quite dizzy and light headed for the rest of the day and ended up going to bed for the night at around 6:30 pm. Today I still have a headache, and I’m not quite 100%, but I decided to try and squeeze in some work time.
Just in case you’re wondering, the title of today’s post has nothing to do with what I think about my card *lol*. “Fast and Fabulous” is actually the name of a brand-new level 2 hostess stamp set from the 2010/2011 Idea Book and Catalogue, available July 1st. When I saw this stamp set it was love at first sight. Although I don’t normally pre-order hostess sets since I end up earning them all anyways, I just couldn’t wait for this one!
Today’s card is quite easy to make:
-
Ink up your flower outline image in Baja Breeze Classic ink and stamp it off ONCE onto a piece of grid paper. Now stamp it (without re-inking) onto a 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White CS. Stamp a second flower in exactly the same manner.
-
Clean your stamp and then ink it in Chocolate Chip Classic ink and stamp it three times, being sure to re-ink in between. Make sure that you stamp the flower at different heights.
-
Mat the Whisper White CS onto a 3 1/8″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Chocolate Chip CS. Set aside for a moment.
-
Take a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Baja Breeze CS and dry emboss it using the square lattice embossing folder and your Big Shot. Trim the Baja Breeze CS so that it is 4″ x 5 1/4″. I always dry emboss a larger piece of CS when using this particular embossing folder because I find it tends to shrink the dimensions of the CS as the embossing is so heavy.
-
Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly called Kraft CS) and fold it in half with a bone folder to create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card.
-
Center and stick the embossed Baja Breeze CS onto the Crumb Cake card front.
-
Center and stick the matted image onto the Baja Breeze CS.
-
Die cut the widest label from the Matchbox Bigz XL out of Crumb Cake CS using your Big Shot.
-
Stamp the greeting onto the label with Chocolate Chip Classic ink.
-
Sponge the edges of the label with Chocolate Chip Classic ink.
-
Stick a medium half-back pearl to the left and right of the greeting using a mini glue dot (I used the pearls from my Pretties kit).
-
Stick the greeting label to the top left of the image piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!
All in all it’s quite an easy card to make. The blue stamped off image is quite faint in the picture so you don’t quite get the same effect as when you see the card. In real life it’s really pretty.
Okay, and now I need to announce some winners. It occurred to me that I had not yet announced the winners of the Birthday Biss Class Planner and I already have a new planner out.
