Last Month to Receive 12 FREE Ink Pads!
If you know me, you know how much I love being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. I have been able to stay at home with my family, instead of going to a traditional 9-5 job everyday. I earned my first Cruise this year (and I am working towards earning a trip to a beautiful Hawaiian Resort!). I get paid to stamp and scrapbook. And of course- I have met many wonderful friends- my customers and my team members! Does this sound appealing to you? Because, if it does - now is a fantastic time to buy the demonstrator starter kit and start your own Stampin' Up! business. Purchase the Starter Kit between now and September 30, and you'll get to pick the family of your choice--colour family, that is--of Classic Stampin' Pads FREE. That's a $79.95 value (actually $100 if you factor in shipping and taxes here in Ontario)! For more information, click HERE. |

I can't believe it's September already and my daughter started her first day of JK this morning. She was so excited that it was finally her turn to go to school! I think she's actually going to have a hard time with the fact that she only goes to school 2 days a week.
While I'm sad to see summer coming to an end, autumn is always an exciting time of year for me with all those holidays just around the corner. Now's the time to start thinking about your Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas projects, work on scrapbooking your summer activities, and start to enjoy a bit more time for yourself. I've planned a lot of new classes & events to help you do just that! Hopefully you'll find something that tickles your fancy and you'll come on out and join me! |

Cardmaking 101: Quick and Easy Cards 1
Whether you're a "newbie" in the world of card making, or you're a seasoned card-maker and you find yourself pressed for time, it's great to have a few "old faithfuls" to turn to. Over the past couple of months we've looked at what basic supplies you need to get started, and how to take care of your stamps. This month, we're going to look at how to create a quick and easy basic card, and I'll show you a few ways to "step-it-up" as well. Over the next few weeks as time allows, I'll add a few more "quick and easy" basic card designs to my tutorial library.
First things first. Check out my "Creating a Card Base" tutorial to see how to create the base of your card. There are 2 different ways you can cut your cardstock which will give you 3 different options on the orientation of your card. Once you've got your card base, it's time to stamp. Click HERE to get to my "Creating a Quick and Easy Card" tutorial. |

Get Started Scrapbooking: The can-do guide for beginners Whether you've just gotten started, you're thinking of getting started, or you just need a few tips or inspiration - then this monthly scrapbooking column is for you!
What's on a Scrapbook Page?
Every scrapbook page is different, but most of them typically have the same core ingredients:
Background: Whether you use a solid piece of cardstock or a variety of patterned papers, the background is what frames the elements of your page.
Photos: When designing your page, the main photo that you want to catch the viewer's eye, is the focal point photo. The remaining pictures are supporting pictures that visually help tell the story.
Title: Whether it's large and bold or small and subtle, the title is what introduces what the page is about and sets the tone of your layout.
Embellishments: Tags, ribbon, die cuts and more add that little extra something to your page. You can choose to embellish a lot, a little or not at all.
Journalling: Probably one of the most important elements of the page. At the very least, it should include, place, date and occasion. At it's best, it tells the story behind the pictures. Why did you choose to scrapbook these photos? |

Upcoming Classes & Events
Be sure to check out my classes/events page, as I've introduced a whole bunch of new classes for September. I'll be adding in other classes I have planned for the remainder of the fall as well. For more details, please visit my *new* Class listings page HERE. Don't forget, I offer many of my classes on a to-go basis just in case your schedule won't allow you to make it to a class or you live too far.
* Please note: ALL classes and clubs require an RSVP. I need to know how many people to prepare materials for. I have added in email links to the class descriptions to make it easy for you. |

Stamping Q & A Have a stamping- or scrapbooking-related question? Send me an email and I'll answer as many as I can in each issue of my newsletter.
Q. Does it really matter what type of cardstock I use for my stamping?
A. Yes and No. You can stamp on pretty much any type of cardstock, however you will find that the quality of your finished project depends on the quality of the cardstock that you use. One of the things I love about Stampin' Up!'s cardstock is it's weight- it's an 80 lb cover weight, which means that even when you load on the layers and embellishments, your card won't buckle. I also particularly love their white and vanilla cardstock. It has an ultrasmooth, tight finish which keeps your stamped images crisp and clean. | |
