“Love You” Valentine’s Card & Some Updates
Posted on: Monday, January 25th, 2010Happy Monday everyone! have a few different things to share with you today – a project of course, a special offer and I’m announcing the winners of The Write Stuff Class.
Today’s card is a Valentin’es card, or it could also be used as an anniversary card. Of course I’m using one of my favorite color combinations – Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose (although for some reason, the Regal Rose looked much darker than usual) and one of my favorite accessories – buttons!
You can download a pdf handout of how I made the card HERE. The handout includes a picture, full supply list and step-by-step directions.
You can watch the video below:
Directions:
- Take a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Pretty in Pink CS and fold it in half using a bone folder to create a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” card. Sponge the edges of the card using Regal Rose Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge.
- Take a 2” x 4” piece of Regal Rose CS and scallop along one of the 4” sides using the Scallop Trim Border punch.
- Stick a 3 ¾” x 4” piece of the Shades of Spring DP onto the scalloped Regal Rose CS piece using Snail adhesive. Center and stick this piece along the bottom edge of the card front.
- Stamp your greeting in Basic Black Classic ink just above the scalloped border, towards the right side of the card, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
- Using your Big Shot, die cut the tag from the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die out of Whisper White CS. Sponge the edges with Regal Rose Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge. Stick the tag to the card front on an angle as shown using Snail adhesive.
- Tie an 8” piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon in a bow and stick towards the top of the tag using a mini glue dot.
- “Thread” two small white buttons and a pink button using slivers of coordinating CS. Stick the buttons along the bottom of the tag using mini glue dots. Set the card aside for a moment.
- Stamp the large heart from the “A Happy Heart” stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White CS in Regal Rose Classic ink. Pat VersaMark ink all over the heart and then sprinkle on Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Heat emboss with a heat tool. Cut out the heart leaving a small border of white all around.
- Stick the heart so that it is half on the tag and half on the DP using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
- Dry emboss a scrap of Pretty in Pink CS using the Polka Dots textured impressions folder. Punch out some hearts using the Heart to Heart punch. Sponge the edges of the tall heart with Regal Rose Classic ink. Stick the heart onto the tag so that it slightly overlaps the larger heart using two Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!
