Good Morning Sunshine!

Posted on: Friday, February 6th, 2009

*I’ve got 3 posts for you today, so make sure you read on!*

Valentine’s is not even here and already I find myself in need of a change away from the pink and red color combination.  Also, right now I’m preparing for a huge trade show I do every year called the Total Woman Show. Although last year I brought in a partner, this year I’m going solo.  I’m really excited about it – it’s even bigger than last year’s which drew crowds of about 4000 over the course of the two days.  We had an 8″ x 10″ booth squished in between two other booths – which got pretty crowded with all the people stopping for the Make and Take.  We had 480 people stop by our booth just for the Make and Take alone.

This year the show itself is bigger – there’s almost double the exhibitors, and for my booth space  I’m going bigger!  I have a 10″ x 10″ corner booth in a fantastic location.  I’m planning a Make and Take again (which I’ll share with you sometime next week) and this time I prepped for about 600.  I have two big 8″ x 10″ black folding panel displays and I’m have a banner stand made as well to go in the corner. So right now, I’m really busy trying to figure out what kinds of samples I’m going to have on my boards as well as working with a graphics arts company to get signs done.  I want something really nice for the banner stand so I’ve been working on a few coordinating samples which I’m going to set up along with some artfully arranged SU product (well, hopefully I’ll be able to arfully arrange it *lol*) in my little home-based “photo studio.”   The project I’m sharing today is going to be one of those projects photographed for my banner stand. – once I have it all together I’ll post the photo for you guys to look at.

All the supplies used on this project at Stampin’ Up!. Directions are at the bottom of the page.

  • Stamps: Good Friend, Curvy Verses
  • Ink: Chocolate Chip, Pacific Point, Summer Sun Classic inks, Old Olive Craft ink
  • Paper: Rose Red, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip CS, Good Morning Sunshine Bulk DP, Carousel Notes
  • Accessories: 1/16″ handheld circle punch, 2-way glue pen, Light Blue Fine Cosmo Glitter, On Board So Tweet, heat tool, Big Shot, Multipurpose Platform, Cutting pads, Cherry Blossom embosslit, paper snips, vintage brads (black), Circle Ice Rhinestone Bras, Kiwi Kiss Corduroy buttons, Flower Assorment designer brads, Rich Regals brads, Circle Scissors Plus, Glass cutting mat, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Empressor Stylus, Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template, Light Table, Boho Blossoms punch

Directions:

  1. Take one of the leaf stems from the On Board So Tweet chipboard set and cover with Old Olive craft ink.  Let dry.  If necessary add a second layer of ink.  You can spead up the drying process with your heat tool if necessary.  Set aside.
  2. Take your Baja Breeze Carousel Note and dry emboss the scallops using your light table, empressor stylus and Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template. Set aside.
  3. Cut a 5″ circle out of Chocolate Chip CS using your Circle Scissors Plus. Cut a 4 3/4″ circle out of the Good Morning Sunshine DP.  Mat the DP onto the CS circle.  Stamp the “good friend” greeting in Chocolate Chip Classic ink near the top left edge of the DP.  Use a stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary. Set aside.
  4. Stamp your bird from the Good Friends stamp set twice onto a scrap of Whisper White CS in Pacific Point ink. Stamp the beak on one of them in Summer Sun ink.  Cut out the bird with a beak leaving a small white border around the edge.  Cut out just the wing from the second bird leaving a small border of Pacific Point around it.
  5. Take your wing piece, cover it in 2-way glue and sprinkle on the light blue fine cosmo glitter.  Attach the wing to the bird using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  6. Punch a hole in the eye of the full bird using your 1/16″ handheld hole punch. Insert a small vintage black brad. Set your bird aside for a moment.
  7. Die cut two of the embosslit Cherry Blossoms using your Big Shot and Rose Red CS.  Cut out one from the Good Morning Sunshine DP.  Cut the “inner flower” out from the flower you die cut out of DP and one from the Rose Red CS flower. Mat the yellow flower onto the larger Rose Red flower.  Punch a hole in the middle using the 1/16″ handheld punch & insert a corduroy button.
  8. Take the other Rose Red CS flower “center” and punch a hole in the middle and insert a Saffron brad from the Flower assortment of designer brads.
  9. Punch out a small flower from Rose Red CS, using the Boho Blossoms punch.  Punch a hole in the middle and insert a So Saffron Brad from the Rich Regals collection.
  10. It’s now time to assemble your card.  Center and mount the matted DP to the Carousel Note.  Stick down the chipboard leaves with mini glue dots.  Attach the flowers and bird with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  11. Take a second carousel note.  Cut a 5″ CS circle out of Whisper White CS using your Circle Scissors Plus. Center and attach it to the second Carousel note.  Stamp a greeting from the Curvy Verses in Chocolate Chip ink.
  12. Lay the top carousel note on top of the second carousel note.  Punch a hole at the top.  Insert a medium-sized circle celery rhinestone brad to hold them together.  You’re done!
