Friendship is Forever

Posted on: Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

It’s such a beautiful day here, and I wanted to have a card that was bright, cheerful, and fun to represent this beautiful day.  The card is was quick, but fun to make.  I added my own hand written greeting to the paper with my fountain pen  because I wanted something that curved around.

Directions:

  • Take some light blue CS (I used Cool Carribean which is retired) cut at 6″ x 7 1/2″ and score and fold @ the 3 3/4″ mark. Sponge the edges with some Tempting Turquoise Classic ink.
  • Cut a piece of Whisper White  CS 1 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ and punch with your Scallop Trim Border punch.  Stick it to the Left hand underside of the card front.
  • Cut a piece of Poppy Parade DP which is 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.  Stick a strip of Whisper White 5/8″  Satin Ribbon to the back.  Next stick your Poppy Parade mat to the card front.
  • Cut a 3″ circle from watercolour paper, and a 3 1/4″  circle of Concord Crush.
  • On the Watercolour paper, stamp the daisy from the Every Moment stamp set, using Staz-On black ink.
  • Watercolour the image with re-inkers.  I used Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Real Red, and Sahara Sand Classic ink.
  • Add a greeting using a Medium point Fountain pen, or a black Stampin’Write marker
  • Stick the image to the Concord Crush circle.  Add some detail with a White Gel pen.  Stick the circle to the card front using Stampin’Dimensionals.
  • Take a piece of 5/8″ White Satin ribbon and tie a faux knot.  You are done!

What an awesome class!! Even tho I have been stamping for five years, there is so much more I could learn, and it sounds like you are covering about 20 years of experience in this class. I would love to win this class to improve my skills. Thanks so much for offering this opportunity for free — just pick me — LOL!!

Congrats to Sandi! Great card Sophia! When I first looked at it, I thought “Stampin’ Up!” doesn’t sell a stamp like that.” Then I read you directions. Great job on the handwriting. Thanks for sharing.

2

Thank you for the wonderful directions so that I can recreate this lovely look at home.

sublime… j’adore les couleurs ! ONce again… I am impressed ! you always put colors together that look amazing ! Unfortunately, my handwriting is nothing like yours… I usually print with my computer (and with Print Shop, I can have circles and other forms) because… noone would be able to read me !!! (I work for a doctor !!)

Good day !

Hi Sophia,

You really brought that stamped image to life!! I too, didn’t think it was from SU, so kudos to you for a stunning card and surprise image!

Oh my gosh Sophia, I came here just to see what was new and was scrolling down to leave a comment about this darling card when I saw my name. Of course I thought, “what’s my name doing here?” Thank you so much for the Artist in You class — I am so excited to learn new ideas/tips/techniques. Do I e-mail you? How does this work? Sorry, I’m so out of the loop.
Now back to what I was going to say: I love what you did with this card (didn’t even recognize this stamp so love something new). I really, really like your hand-written words. I would love to have penmenship like yours. Thank you again!

Hi Sophia,

You know I wasn’t sure about that stamp set when I saw it in the catalogue, but I can see possibilities now! thanks KazT

i love the handwriting touch too AND the way you added the scallop border trim in white! never used enough for accents i think, so many of us are afraid of using too much white on our cards!

First I love the card. Second how did you do the dew look? Did you use crystal effects? I agree with everyone I didn’t even look twice at this stamp set until I saw your card. Thank you for sharing.
