Finally Friday Card and the Winner of the 2 Upcoming Online Classes
Posted on: Friday, May 7th, 2010Aren’t you just thrilled it’s Friday? I sure am. Even though our weekends are typically just as busy as our weekdays, we’re busy doing different things. Tonight my husband an I are going out for dinner at our favourite restaurant – The Charcoal Steakhouse - they have the BEST steak in the Kitchener/Cambridge/Waterloo area – and we’ve tried out quite a few restaurants. Tomorrow morning we’re helping out at our school’s annual walk-a-thon / bike-a-thon. Other than going to church on Sunday morning, the rest of our weekend is spent doing family activities. On Sunday afternoon we’ll probably take my grandfather to Costco for french fries. He says they have the “best french fries ever” LOL. Right now we’re trying to spend as much time as possible with my grandpa (he lives with us), because he’s struggling a bit right now. It’s been just over a year since my grandmother passed away – a very difficult and painful time for us all. Although we’ve been doing our best to keep him at the heart our family life and to try and give him purpose, he’s struggling right now. My grandmother was his heart and soul…his entire life’s focus. If you are so inclined, please pray for us that we can give him what he needs.
The card I wanted to share with you today is a simple but striking card. As with my Trigger Tuesday projects, the “trigger” for this project was a fun picture I saw at pottery barn kids:
If you click on the picture itself, it will take you to the Pottery Barn Kids website listing for this product.
I just loved the bright vibrant colors of these crayons and the way this picture was put together. It immediately evoked in my mind an image of bright and colorful, but clean and simple.
Here you can see my card idea come to life:
Isn’t it fun and bright? You can download a pdf handout on how this card was made HERE.
Okay, and now onto the winner of our 2 upcoming online classes:
Drumroll please……………………..
And the winner is……………………………………….

Love the simplicity of this! What a great idea for a young person’s card.
May 7th, 2010 at 11:19 am
Oooooooooh! So adorable! I really like this. I made one similar with red hearts, kraft cardstock, and black inked sentiment, which I thought was maybe too simple. But then I see a very similar layout at your website, and I know I couldn’t have been too far off the mark! Haha!
Your grandpa is in my thoughts and prayers. It must be so difficult for him to lose someone that has been such a big part of his life for most of his life.

This is an adorable card! Sometimes I forget that you don’t have to have tons of layers to make something striking, thank you for that reminder! Your grandfather is in my thoughts and prayers. I think it’s neat that he’s living with you now. Just think of all the wonderful memories you will be creating for your children! And he’s right….Costco does have the best fries
. Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Love the card! This would be a great way to use up some of the retiring colors.
Congrats to Susan! You are one lucky winner!
Hope your grandfather gets to feeling better soon! It must be hard for him to loose the love of your life.
P.S. I have never eaten the french fries at Costco. I guess I have to try them out.
Thanks for sharing and Happy Mother’s Day!

Such a colorful, simple, sweet Card you have come up with here. I like it because it looks like a rainbow and rainbows make kids and everyone Happy. Great job on interpreting those cute crayons. I remember well when your Dear Grandmother passed away, and how hard it was on all of you especially your Grandfather. I have had you on my Prayer list ever since. I will continue to Pray that he may find Peace some day, and that you all will heal as a Family. Your Family is so much like mine, in the way that you take care of each other. I hope your Grandpa enjoys his French Fries and that you have a wonderful Family weekend.

Such a simple card but stunning. The colors pop out and it’s so bright and cheery.
I will keep your grandfather and you in my thoughts and prayers. I was actually thinking about him the other day wondering how he was coping. It must be so hard for him to be without his soulmate but comforting for him that he has your love and support.
Blessings to you all.

Praying for strength and guidance for you and your family. My husband’s grandfather grieves for the passing of his wife too. He has a big smile and it warms our hearts when we hear him talk about the good times they spent together. They were married for nearly 60 years.
Cute and simple card. Great for making a stack for future use.
