Extreme Skateboard Birthday Card
Posted on: Tuesday, July 20th, 2010Today’s card is perfect for a pre-teen or teen boy’s birthday. In fact, I think I may give this one to my son who will be turning 12, instead of the one I made a few months ago. That’s the beauty of making cards in advance – I have lots of time to change my mind
Here’s how I made the card:
-
Cut a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pacific Point CS and fold it in half using your bone folder. Round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
-
Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake CS (formerly called Kraft CS) and round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
-
Ink up the Sanded background stamp with Crumb Cake Classic ink and stamp it onto the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Crumb Cake CS. Set it aside for a moment.
-
Cut a 2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DP from the Celebrations DP collection and stick it to the Crumb Cake CS piece, about 1/4″ up from the bottom edge of the CS.
-
Lay a 7″ piece of 1/4″ Real Red Grosgrain ribbon across the Crumb Cake CS so that it covers the seam of the DP. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down with SNAIL adhesive.
-
Center and stick the Crumb Cake CS piece to the Pacific Point card front with SNAIL adhesive.
-
Cut a 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Whisper White CS and round the top two corners with a 1/2″ corner rounder punch.
-
Stamp the Extreme Skateboarder image towards the top of the Whisper White CS piece in Pacific Point Classic ink.
-
Stamp the greeting from the On Your Birthday stamp set in Basic Black Classic ink, just beneath the image.
-
Sponge the edges of the Whisper White CS piece with a sponge dauber and Pacific Point Classic ink.
-
Stick the Whisper White CS piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Position it so that it is about 3/4″ away from the right edge of the Crumb Cake CS.
-
Stick two buttons to the left of the image and one button to the right of the image using mini glue dots.
-
Take a 4″ piece of Real Red Grosgrain ribbon and tie it in a single knot. Stick it to the existing piece of Real Red Grosgrain ribbo with a mini glue dot. You’re done!
Hope you enjoyed today’s card!

I really like this card, Andrea! Most every other one I’ve seen has been really dark while this one is bright and festive. Good choice of colors and papers!

I have a hard time making teen cards even though I have two teen sons. This card is great and even though neither is into skateboarding it can easy be altered with an image that they like. Thanks for the inspiration.

It can be so hard to make a card for a pre-teen boy that is not too girly. I think you have accomplished that here very well. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice card. I have a few kids in the neighborhood I can think of to give something like this to. I can’t get over how clean the skateboarder came out. That looks so crisp & clean. Super
