Do you need help organizing YOUR life?
Posted on: Saturday, December 11th, 2010Have you ever forgotten to purchase a gift for a special event or occasion? Or maybe you’ve just come back from a long day or weekend of shopping only to discover you forgot to buy one gift? Then of course there’s all those little bits and pieces of paper onto which you wrote some gift ideas for those upcoming birthdays, and now that you’re out shopping and NEED them, you can’t find them?
Do any of these scenarios sound familiar? These types of things happen to me on a regular basis. My life is so crazy busy, and it just seems to get busier and crazier all the time. It seems I’m always forgetting something, or wasting time on something. Sometimes it’s forgetting to buy a baby gift or a birthday gift for a party my child is attending, misplacing my receipts, forgetting what sized shoes my kids wear (after all, I do have to keep track of 5 shoe sizes), wasting time searching for a phone number I call on a monthly basis……it’s never ending.
That’s why I’ve decided, out of desperation really, that I need to ORGANIZE the various aspects of my life! At first I tried coming up with a single system to organize EVERYTHING. The only problem is that the more I thought about what I wanted, the bigger and bulkier and more overwhelming it seemed to get.
As I started thinking about what my “problem areas” were and how to address them, I started to realize that there were actually several organizational tools that I would find very helpful.
And that got me thinking in a whole new direction…..I bet I’m not the only one who needs help in this area!
That’s where the idea for a new series of organizational products was born……. Organize YOUR Way. As I design organizational tools to help me, I’m going to make these tools available to YOU.
So this month, I’m excited and proud to introduce to you the first Organize YOUR Way tutorial…. “My Gift Guide”.
The purpose of “My Gift Guide” is as the name implies….one place to organize all the gifts or items that you may need to buy on a monthly basis for special events and/or occasions (i.e. baby, wedding, birthday, Christmas, house-warming, teacher gifts, etc.).
This nifty organizer has a page for each month, a line for each day of the month, a handy notes page and a pocket to store receipts in for EACH month. There is a space for you to write the person’s name, the gift idea, a budget and the cost. You can tuck any gift receipts into the handy pockets.
Because there is no year associated with this organizer, you can use it year after year. If you have people that you consistently buy for year after year, you write their name in pen (as you can see it comes with a pen attached to it) and then their gift in pencil. So you can erase it when the event is over and then write in gift ideas for the next year. If the event is a one of, then simply write everything in pencil and you can easily erase it. How easy is that?
Now maybe you have everything together and you don’t need anything like this. If that’s the case, it also makes a perfect gift. In fact I’m planning on giving some to friends and family this year.
When you purchase the digital kit you receive:
- a pdf handout with a full supply list, cutting guide and over 60 full color step-by-step photos with directions
- the calendar and note templates
- THREE video tutorials showing you all aspects of making this album from start to finish
- No supplies included
And all for only $24.95. One low price, but a project you can make over and over again, and give away as gifts year after year! To purchase your tutorial click HERE.
Just a quick note – this project was created using some of the new designer fabric and buttons from Stampin’ Up!’s upcoming Occasions Mini Catalogue – you can use ANY fabric or buttons to create this organizer. Also, this is a NO SEW project (other than the button) so you don’t need to have any sewing skills.
Blog Give-Away
I’m also giving away the free tutorial and video access to 3 lucky winners. All you have to do to enter the give-away is to leave a comment in the comments section of this post. Winners will be announced on Thursday Dec. 16th, 2010.

I am always on the prowl for new ideas to help me become better organized. I have created a couple of ideas to help me keep track of where everyone in the family lives, their current phone numbers, their special days, etc. I have had fun with those, but this one really looks fantastic. I don’t have anything that helps keep track of the gifts I need to purchase for everyone. That is a phenomenal idea and I would definitely LOVE to win the whole kit-n-kaboodle! Thanks for all your fantastic ideas and helps.

December 13th, 2010 at 10:44 am
To echo the comments of others, this is a great idea. What I like most is that it creates a very useful tool. It can help you plan and budget your gifts and make use of seasonal sales (as long as you write down where you have stashed your gifts). I used something similar one year and managed (for once) to send my Father-in-Law a Veteran’s Day present, as he was a decorated Vietnam Vet. Normally I miss all these events, but I had used an organizer to remind me. He ended up loving the gift and tragically he passed away about 6 weeks later. I’m so glad that I was able to send him a small reminder that we were thinking of him.
These organizers can sometimes make a big difference! (and yours is totally cute)
