Cheep Talk Card Set with Decorated Tin

Posted on: Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

cheeptalktincardsHappy Memorial Day weekend to all my US readers! Today I thought I’d share with you a card set I made using my Cheep Talk stamp set and the Good Morning Sunshine Designer Paper (DP). I figured that since this DP will be retiring in just over a month I’d better start looking for ways to use it up (and other retiring DP’s as well). Since I absolutely LOVE creating matched sets of projects, I decided to create a set of four 4″ x 4″ thank you notes with a coordinating card tin.  My tin is actually one of Stampin’ Up!’s Flower Fusion tins.  Once I had used up all the felt flowers, I saved the tin in order to alter it.

The nice thing about creating card sets like this one is that you don’t have to think too much about your design and layout.  I used the same design for all the cards and simply switched up the pattern of DP I used for each card.

The cards are fairly straightforward to make, the only thing that may bear explaining is how I created the sky & clouds background which you can see in the close-up picture below. I punched out two scalloped ovals out of Whisper White CS using my Scallop Oval punch.  I then stuck them to the Whisper White CS circle. Both “clouds” hung over the edge of the circle so I trimmed them.  I then took a wedge of Stamping Sponge and sponged all around the edge of the Whisper White CS circle and around the clouds with a small amount of Baja Breeze Classic ink.

This is so cute! I love making up card sets. I try to keep at least one completed set on had for quick gifts for friends, neighbors, teachers… you get the idea! I absolutely love all the classes by e-mail that you do. I use these ideas all the time!

42

I love how just changing the dsp makes the cards each different but coordinated. One question – When you make 4X4 cards like this do you include envelopes or they cards to just include with a hand delivered gift?

43

This is adorable. I love it!

44

Very cute set. I love how you made the clouds!

45

Again I like it when you use a stamp set that I normally would not have bought and show me why I should buy it.

46

This is a beautiful collection! I love how you kept the focal points all the same but changed up the backgrounds to tie the set together. Great way to recycle by using the Flower Fusion tin as well! Thanks for sharing.

48

This stamp set is starting to grow on me but I have to tell you this gift card set rocks.

49

How cute is this. I spend all my time looking at your wonderful creations, I forget to create my own. Awesome as usual!! Don’t stop.

I must say, I am so impressed with your ideas and with your work!!! I have been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for a couple of years now and I basically “get-by”. I sell my cards & projects at local craft shows and would love to make a business out of this. I would love to know how you do it?!?!?!? Any advice for someone who wants to get started and just doesn’t know how?
