First off I wanted to share with you this beautiful vintage “Hearts a Flutter” Printers created created by myself and Tracy (one of my senior educators/designers at the Sunny Stampin’ Studio/ Paper Crafter’s Library). Although the the theme is love, it was intended to be created as an Anniversary gift, or just to showcase pictures that are special to you – whether it’s about you and your significant other or it’s about your family.
This printer’s tray is different than the one we created at Christmas – it’s an antique white color and features 6 spaces for you to embellish or to fill with photos. We created this “Hearts a Flutter Printer’s Tray” using ALL Stampin’ Up! products. It features:
- Tea for Two Designer Paper

As with our Christmas Printer’s Tray we have put together a digital tutorial which includes:

• a video tutorial which visually demonstrates how to create this project from start to finish;
We are making the digital tutorial available for purchase in the Sunny Stampin’ Store for $12.95 – OR, read below for how you can receive the tutorial absolutely FREE (US only)…….Please note that we do still have a few of the Black Printer’s Trays from Christmas available, so if you purchase it at the same time then you’ll also receive that tutorial for free.

Masculine Thanks A Million Stampin’ Up! Card
Posted: Monday, January 7th, 2013 | CommentsSo I had to laugh as I read some of your comments from my last post regarding whether or not you send out your handmade cards. Although it sounds like many of you are really good about it, I was glad to see I wasn’t the only delinquent.
Deb VC made the comment about how expensive store-bought cards are, and asked the question “WHY aren’t people flocking to these card making parties to save some serious $$?”
Well Deb, I think I have an answer for you. I think people are “onto” us crafters. I remember when I first joined Stampin’ Up! as a demonstrator in 2004. I very adamantly told my husband that in the long run, it would SAVE us money on cards. He kind of gave me the knowing “uh huh!” look. Well all these years later I have to agree with him. If I look at all the money I have spent on paper crafting supplies since 2004 and compare it to how much I would have spent had I bought 50 or even a 100 cards a year (and I’ve never been anywhere close to that), I have to confess, I would have been way ahead had I just kept buying store-bought cards – but shhhhhhh, we won’t tell him he was right okay? *wink*
In order to REALLY and truly save money as a card maker, you need to be the kind of person who can discipline themselves to limit themselves to a couple of stamp sets, a few ink colors, a paper cutter and some card stock. I’m not sure I know many paper crafters that are like that. For me, saving money has become a relative term. I save money compared to someone who…say…… collects cars. But saving money over buying cards? Nope! My husband knew me better than I knew myself.
On the upside though, I do keep my spending within our means, it’s therapeutic and it does make me a happier person in the long run plus my creative pursuits have allowed me to bless other people. So all in all, I think it’s a win win situation
Here’s another comment that made me laugh, because it’s so me.
Although I haven’t gotten around to sending out Christmas cards for YEARS, I do give out the cards I make. For me, the problem with sending cards is finding the person’s address, putting it in the envelope, addressing it, going to the post office to buys stamps and then mailing it….way too many steps.
I do however give out my cards to people I see personally – in particular birthdays and get well cards. But I do have to admit, I have classifications on which of my cards someone will get. If I know that the person really doesn’t care too much about the fact that it’s hand made and that they’ll just throw it out, then I give them the quick and easy cards with minimal (expensive) embellishments. If I know someone really appreciates receiving a hand made card and keeps them – those are the people that get my best cards. So there! My secret is out LOL!
I’d love to know what you all do with all the cards you make. One person commented that they give them to Operation Write home – which I think is a fantastic idea. I’ve given a bunch of my cards to a friend’s daughter who then sells them to raise money for cancer. I’m still overflowing with cards though…actually drowning in them would be more accurate. I’ve thought of selling them online, but frankly, having to list all of them, figure out a price and then mail all of them….seems like way too much work for what I’d get for them anyways. So does anyone have any ideas on what I can do with them? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Well, I hope you enjoyed todays card – another masculine card, this time a little more stepped up, and suitable for a teen or a grown man. I’m not sure if you can tell from the picture but I cut the front to 3/4″ narrower than the back panel – it’s why the picture looks a little off kilter. I’ll have a video tutorial for this card going into Paper Crafter’s Library, both the Stampin’ Up! Video Gallery as well as the full PCL – somewhere around the end of the month. Details on Paper Crafter’s Library memberships are at the bottom of this post.
Become a Member of the Stampin’ Up! Projects Video Gallery or Paper Crafter’s Library
If you haven’t already heard about it, in August we launched an all new-division of Paper Crafter’s Library dedicated to Stampin’ Up!-only projects, and we’ve been offering the opportunity to join at an absolutely dirt-cheap, rock bottom price. Seriously!
As part of your membership to our Stampin’ Up! Projects Video Gallery you’ll receive access to the video tutorial and pdf handout to 3 Stampin’ Up! projects per week – for a total of 12 projects per month! In addition to cards, each month there will be at least one 3D item, one template card, one technique and one scrapbook page. You’ll also have access to all the projects released since August. And all for only $7.95 a month!
Why so cheap? Because the site is still relatively new site and we started it from scratch. However, as I’ve mentioned in past posts, we’re in the process of moving the site to a new location. When it’s done (we anticipate by the end of this month) they’ll be over 50 new videos on Stampin’ Up! products and tools – what they are, how to use them as well as a some techniques with them – especially great if you are a newer Stampin’ Up! demo and want to learn about the products you’re selling
At this point, the site will become a true library, rather than just a gallery which means that the price will go up. BUT….if you get in right now, before we move,YOUR price of $7.95 a month will NEVER go up! So grab this deal while you can by signing up below.
Now in case you are wondering – if you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator – you can use the projects AND pdf handouts for your workshops and classes. And yes, you can give the pdf handouts to your customers. The only thing we ask is that you do not distribute or share them on online sites, blogs, galleries, etc.
Now for those of you that are Paper Crafters’ Library Members, or are considering Paper Crafters’ Library membership at our member rate of $19.95 per month – you may be wondering what the difference is:
- Stampin’ Up! Projects Video Gallery is INCLUDED in your Paper Crafter’s Library membership
- PLUS ADDITIONAL projects featuring Stampin’ Up! products
- PLUS many of our ONLINE WORKSHOPS (such as the upcoming Beautiful Brayer Workshop)
- PLUS access to our Club 52 membership videos (a technique club which includes videos on over 100 different techniques)
- You also have access to our existing library of over 1000 videos including project, techniques, templates and tool how-to videos
- Regular PCL membership includes over 50 videos a month
- Access to forums and gallery
You can sign up for either the Stampin’ Up! Projects Video Gallery OR our regular Paper Crafter’s Library membership from THIS link . When you do so, your membership will activate immediately, but you can only pay by VISA or Mastercard.
If you prefer to pay by Paypal, you can subscribe by clicking on one of the buttons below (depending on your membership choice). Please note though that with Paypal we have to set your membership up manually, so it may take up to 48 hours.
Membership To Stampin’ Up! Projects Video Gallery (A Division of PCL) – $7.95 per month
Membership To Paper Crafter’s Library- $19.95 per month
So there you have it, that’s today’s project and updates!
A Christmas Update
Posted: Friday, December 28th, 2012 | CommentsI hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I just thought I’d pop in from snowy Ottawa and share with you an update on what we’ve been up to.
The week leading up to Christmas – pretty much from my Grandpa’s birthday and on was an absolute madhouse LOL! Every year, this time of year I always seem to promise myself that NEXT year I’ll be more organized, NEXT year I’ll start my Christmas shopping EARLY, and be DONE by the end of November. Of course, this year, like every other year before that, I never reached my goal. Although I did buy a few gifts in November, it seems as though once again, the majority of our Christmas preparations happened the week and a half before Christmas. There were presents to buy and wrap, Christmas baking to do, presents for teachers, baking for class parties, end of the year school programs, preparations for hosting Christmas gatherings……and then in the midst of it all, a brand new furnace.
On Christmas Eve, we discovered that the reason our house had seemed so cold this season is because our furnace was broken. We hadn’t really clued in because our weather was relatively mild for this time of year, and our house is typically pretty cold anyways. It wasn’t until Dec. 23rd, 10 pm when the temperature dropped outside and our thermostat registered 65 F that we realized there was a problem. Thankfully we have a couple of gas fireplaces (one on the upper level and one on the main level) and about 4 electric heaters (the kind you plug in) so we were able to keep everyone warm.
On Christmas Eve day though, in addition to all the last minute preparations we had a furnace service expert over. After about an hour of trying different things (the furnace was giving all sorts of different error codes) – and nothing working – he discovered that the some industrious children had stuffed the furnace exhaust vent………..
…..full of rocks….and popsicle sticks…..and nerf darts…..and ring pops….and gravel…… and thanks to that, our heat exchanger was broken.
So, on Christmas Eve afternoon, while wrapping presents I was multi-tasking and talking to a furnace sales rep buying a furnace….which ended up being delivered and installed yesterday. So between Christmas and the 27th we heated our house with gas fireplaces and electric heaters – I can tell you I’m not looking forward to seeing our hydro bill
Once the installers arrived, we headed off to Ottawa to visit my parents and Soph and her family (we have some of Todd’s family staying at our house while we’re gone and supervising the install).
Our drive to Ottawa was quite the nightmare. Normally it’s about a 5 1/2 hour drive, well because of snow, and snow plows and accidents all over the place it took us about 9 hours. And coming to Ottawa, was like entering the twighlight zone. We went from NO snow where we are, to PILES of snow here in Ottawa. Here you can see a snapshot of my dad’s backyard which I took from my iPhone.
So that’s where we’re at right now. We’re here until New Year’s Day and planning on relaxing, tobogganing, swimming (my dad has an indoor pool), and just enjoying time with family.
As to what is going on with Paper Crafter’s Library – we’re hoping to have everything transferred over by early in January. At that time we’ve got a fantastic online brayering class featuring all Stampin’ Up! product we’ll be launching (full PCL members will get it as part of their membership). We’ll also hopefully be back in full swing to posting regularly here again. With all the website work I’ve had to do in the last month I just haven’t had much time to anything besides work on the new site, and create and film projects for Paper Crafter’s Library.
I hope you all have a great New Year’s. I’ll be popping in with some more updates now and again.
Happy 92nd Birthday & a Christmas Family Heirloom Printer’s Tray Tutorial
Posted: Wednesday, December 12th, 2012 | CommentsWhere on earth has time gone? I can’t believe that the last time I posted was on Black Friday – so sorry about that folks. As I mentioned in my update, I have been so focused on moving everything over to the new website and all the other associated stuff, that time has rather escaped me.
Today is a very special day in our household as it’s my Grandpa’s 92nd birthday. His favorite birthday present so far?….his driver’s license. Here in Canada, when you are over the age of 80 you have to take your driver’s test every 2 years. This was the year my grandpa had to take it and he passed once again, so he’s over-the-moon happy. As many of you know, my Grandpa and Grandma moved in with us in November 2008, and then just 4 months later my Grandma passed away unexpectedly. My Grandpa was devasted (as you can imagine) as his whole life was about my Grandma and taking care of her.
When she was gone, he didn’t know what to do with himself – he needed to feel needed, – in his words, he didn’t want to be a burden, he wanted to help. So he took on the job of driving the kids to and from school and to and from many of their evening activities – an absolutely vital task that makes our life SO much easier. With our 5 children all involved in activities, and sometimes 3 kids needing to be in different places all at the same time…..well, we couldn’t do it without him. In addition to his “job” as family driver, he has also taken on sorting out the recycling and putting out the garbage, as well as stocking up on groceries that are on sale.
I’m sure you’ve heard me mention some of my grandpa’s shopping escapades? Well he LOVES a deal, and when something is on sale for a really cheap price, he can’t resist stocking up. So when the 750 g blocks of cheese are on sale at $4.99 (regular $8.99), he’ll come home with 50 of them. When the 2 L jugs of real orange juice are on sale for $1.99 (regular $6.49) he’ll come home with about 20 of them. 60 lbs of bacon, 20 packages of flour tortillas, 100 cans of soup, a drawer full of avocados…….these are just a few of his purchases. In addition to our regular fridge/freezer in our kitchen, downstairs we have two full size refrigerators (with freezers) as well as a chest freezer and an upright freezer…..and they are all full of my grandpa’s deals. Sometimes I wonder if what he saves on groceries, we spend on electricity LOL!
In the picture below you can see my Grandpa with our dog Ginger – who is his favourite “great-grand-daughter” (you can see he still wears his wedding band).
Here you can see the birthday card I made him using my Stampin’ Up! products which I’ll be giving him tonight when we celebrate his birthday:
The video tutorial and pdf handout will be in PCL next week in both the SU Video gallery as well as the full PCL gallery.
I also wanted to share a last-minute holiday gift idea – a Christmas Family Heirloom Printer’s Tray we (Tracy and I) created – which I’m giving as a gift to the grandparents on both sides (my parents and Todd’s parents) and then one we are giving to Grandpa, except his has a picture of him and Ginger in place of my family photo in the bottom right.
