Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack Card
Posted: Thursday, February 18th, 2010 | CommentsToday I wanted to share a card with you that is so unbelievably simple, yet oh-so-cute. This is literally a 5 minute card. The thing that I love the most is that it uses a designer paper pattern as its focal point. This double-sided designer paper (the reverse side the plaid orange that you see) comes from Stampin’ Up!’s Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.
You can download the handout on how to make the card HERE. The handout includes a full supply list and written directions (including dimensions) – it’s easy to print and pop into you inspiration book.
Directions:
-
Take a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Pumpkin Pie CS and fold it in half with your bone folder to create a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” card.
-
Take a 4 ⅛” x 5 ⅜” piece of Chocolate Chip CS and dry emboss it using the Perfect Polka dots textured impressions folder and your Big Shot.
-
Center and stick a 3 ¼” x 4 ½” piece of the flower pattern paper shown onto a 3 ⅜” x 4 ⅝” piece of Sahara Sand CS.
-
Center and stick the matted DP piece onto a 3 ½” x 4 ¾” piece of Pumpkin Pie CS.
-
Center and stick the Pumpkin Pie CS piece onto the dry embossed Chocolate Chip CS.
-
Stamp your greeting onto a ½” strip of Whisper White CS (make sure the length is about 5”). You want there to be about a 1” space to the left of the greeting.
-
Trim the right side of the greeting in a fish tail using your paper snips.
-
Curl the greeting strip with the barrel of a pen or pencil.
-
Position the greeting onto the card front and stick down the left edge with Snail and the right edge with a mini glue dot, leaving a bit of the curl in the center.
-
Place the Chocolate Chip CS piece onto a foam mat. Pierce a hole through the greeting strip using a paper-piercing tool (in between the left edge of the Chocolate Chip CS and the left edge of the greeting).
-
Insert a small Corduroy Pumpkin Pie brad and open up the prongs on the back.
-
Center and stick the Chocolate Chip CS piece onto the Pumpkin Pie card front. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

Papercrafts Magazine Go-To Sketch

Today’s card was totally inspired by the March/April 2010 Papercrafts magazine go-to sketch #1 which was created by Teri Anderson (LOVE her stuff!).
You can download a pdf handout on how this card was made. The pdf include supply list, dimensions and written directions. You can watch a video of how this card was made below:
Directions:
-
Take a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Barely Banana CS and fold it in half with your bone folder to create a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” card.
-
Die cut the larger scalloped circle from the Scallop Circle #2 die in Chocolate Chip CS using your Big Shot (the diameter of the circle is about 3 ½”).
-
Pierce a hole in the center of each scallop using a paper-piercing tool and foam mat.
Cut a 3 ¼” diameter circle out of Whisper White CS using a circle cutting system (I used the Coluzzle). -
Stamp your greeting onto the Whisper White CS circle in Chocolate Chip classic ink. Use a stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary. Center and stick the Whisper White CS circle onto the Chocolate Chip scalloped circle.
-
Stick the scalloped circle onto a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of textured Pretty in Pink CS (center it between the left and right edge and about ¼” down from the top edge).
-
Take a 3” high x 3 ¾ wide” piece of Sending Love DP. Trim it on an angle so that the right side of the DP remains at 3” high while the left edge of the DP is about 2 ½” high.
-
Center and stick the DP along the bottom of the Pretty in Pink CS piece with Snail adhesive.
Lay a 6” piece of Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon along the top angled edge of the DP. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down using Snail adhesive. -
Center and stick the Pretty in Pink CS piece to the Barely Banana card front using Snail adhesive.
Stick the Sweet Pea stitched felt flower, leaves and bud to the bottom right corner of the circle, on the Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon. You’re done!

Nouveau Chic Thank You & the winner of the EZ View Desktop
Posted: Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 | Comments
If you’ve been a blog reader of mine for any length of time then you’ll notice that today’s card is totally not my usual style of stamping. It evolved as a result of Stampin’ Up!’s new Lattice Big Shot die. The first thing I did when I pulled it out is die cut it out in Basic Black CS because I wanted to see what it would look like. As I was looking at it, it struck me that it would probably go well with the Nouveau Chic designer paper. So, out came the paper. I tried all sorts of different combos with different stamp sets using it as a background and a border until it finally occurred to me that it’s very striking on it’s own – that’s when I decided to use the Lattice itself as the focal point of the card. There’s really not much to the rest of the card – once I decided on the design it was all a matter of layering.
Instructions:
-
Mat a 5″ x 5″ piece of Nouveau Chic DP onto a 5 1/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of Basic Black CS.
-
Pierce a hole in the four corners of the DP with a paper-piercing tool and foam mat. insert a black brad into each hole.
-
Mat the DP onto a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ textured Sage Shadow card front (created out of a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of textured Sage Shadow CS folded in half).
-
Die cut the lattice out of Basic Black CS using the Big Shot. Center and stick it onto a 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Sage Shadow CS. Mat the Sage Shadow CS onto a 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Basic Black CS.
-
Pierce holes where desired on the lattice and insert a small clear rhinestone brad into each hole.
-
Center and stick the matted lattice onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Stamp the greeting onto a piece of Going Gray CS. Punch it out with the Modern Label punch. Sponge the edges with Basic Gray Classic ink.
-
Shape the label so that it curves outwards at the center and then mount onto your card using mini glue dots. You’re done!

Melon Mambo Thanks & some Secret Comment Patrol Winners!
Posted: Monday, July 6th, 2009 | Comments
Over the last few posts I’ve slowly been working my way through the In Colors looking for combinations that tone them down a bit. Today’s In Color combination is one that I think is slowly becoming my favorite – Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink. It’s funny because with Stampin’ Up!’s last In Colors, once Pink Pirouette was released I almost never touched Pretty in Pink. I just loved the paleness of the Pink Pirouette, especially in comparison to Pretty in Pink. Now that Stampin’ Up!’s new In Colors have been released I find that by pairing Melon Mambo – a bright and intense color – with Pretty in Pink, it makes the Pretty in Pink seem paler than it really is.
Today’s card is a very simple one which was designed based on the DP. I had to laugh when I read the comment below that was left on my last post. I really do use a lot of DP on my cards beause I love the extra interest that they add to the design. So Elissa, I’m back to DP today *lol* and YOU are going to be one of my lucky Secret Comment Patrol winners – so read on to the end of the post to see what you and the others listed at the end of this post won.

Andrea, I’m amazed that you made a card without Designer Series Paper! But this one is beautiful–great job with the color combo
Here’s how I made my card:
- Take a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft CS and fold it in half using a bone folder. Set aside for a moment.
- You will now need a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Melon Mambo DP from the Razzleberry Lemonade Collection. Lay a 5 1/2″ piece of Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon across the bottom of the DP about 1″ up from the bottom of the DP – bring the ends around back and stick them down with Snail adhesive.
- Mat the DP onto a 3 3/8″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Pretty in Pink CS. Take a 4″ piece of Pretty in Pink ribbon and tie it in a half knot (left over right and pull really tight) around the first piece of ribbon. Position the knot towards the right side of the DP.
- Use the Big Shot and Stampin’ Up! Billboard Sizzlet Decorative Strip die and die cut the word “thanks” out of Basic Black CS. Stick the greeting to the DP just above the knot of ribbon with 2-way glue.
- Use the Big Shot and Flower, Daisies #2 die and die cut out a medium daisy from Pretty in Pink CS and a small daisy from Melon Mambo CS. Stick the small flower onto the medium flower with 2-way glue. Center and stick a Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the medium daisy. Stick the daisy onto the card so that it overlaps the ribbon.
- Punch out the smallest flower from the Boho Blossoms punch in Pretty and Pink CS. Stick it onto the portion of the Stampin’ Dimensional that shows through the center of the flowers.
- Lay the Melon Mambo DP piece onto a foam mat. Stick the Daisy flowers onto the DP piece so that the flower overlaps the ribbon. Pierce a hole through the center of the flowers with a paper-piercing tool. Insert a large clear rhinestone brad.
- Pierce two holes, one on top of the other in the top left corner of the DP piece – insert two black brads from the Vintage brads collection.
- Mat the Pretty in Pink/Melon Mambo DP piece onto the Kraft card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!

I agree with you about the boldness of the new In Color set. I have grown to love them! The lay out of your card is great because I can see several other stamp sets working well instead of the “Bots” set. This is great!!! Thanks
