Hugs & Kisses Valentine’s Card

Posted: Thursday, January 20th, 2011 | Comments (74)

Hellooooooooo? Anyone there?  This morning both Soph and I were talking about how quiet it’s been here on the blog.  We’re starting to feel like we’re talking to ourselves and posting projects just for each other  . Even though we create because we love to and post because it’s fun to share our passion with others – it’s always nice to know when people stop by by.  We appreciate it very much and it helps keep us motivated to keep posting, plus it helps us get to know our readers better

Today’s card is another Valentine’s card.  I created this card as one of the Make and Take’s for my January team meeting.  It’s not a difficult card to make but has just enough added detail and bling to give it a little “wow” factor. Here’s how I made the card:

  1. Stamp the top half of the Crumb Cake card with the En Francais background stamp and Crumb Cake Classic ink.
  2. Center and stick a 2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Love Letter DP to a piece of 2 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ Basic Black CS that’s been scalloped, and then stick this to the card front.
  3. Die cut the large heart with the Hearts & Brackets die out of Cherry Cobbler CS and decorate with a rhinestone.
  4. Punch the smaller heart out of Real Red CS with the Full Heart punch, and dry emboss it with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.
  5. Stamp a greeting onto a Scalloped Envelope that was die cut out of Whisper White CS using the Stampin’ Up! scalloped envelope die. Slide the hearts in and stick them down.
  6. Create a faux knot with Basic Black taffeta ribbon on the envelope.  Stick the envelope to the card front.  You’re done!

And now, the winners of the Bring On The Cake Class.  If your name was drawn, please email me at andrea@sunnystampin.com and put “Bring On The Cake Blog Winner”  In the email please ensure that you let me know if you would like the Stamp Class by Email version or the Class Planner version for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators.

I am so excited about the videos being available. I loved them over the holidays! I have ordered your greenhouse gala cards as a “regular stamper” and I love it…gorgeous!! Now that I just joined SU I love that it can help my business take off. My favorite is when you show how to make the most of the paper and how to cut it and what size. How great is that!?!?!?! No wasted paper!! The birthday cards are so fun and how great that there are boy and girl colors!! Perfect. Thank you for all of your hard work and the chance to win.

WOW!!! I just love cupcakes…..now I think I love them even more. The card size is really a good idea. I have such a hard time remembering to make cards this size so I can use up some of my envelopes.
Thanks for offering a amazing give away!!

“Love You” Card featuring the Love Letters Designer Paper

Posted: Friday, August 20th, 2010 | Comments (13)

Happy Friday everyone!  I’m so happy the weekend is here because that means I get to spend more time with my hubby and kids. My husband is taking the boys out to the driving range tonight, and then tomorrow we’ll probably go for a family bike ride at some point.

Today’s card is a scrappy type of a card that is made with a variety of different elements.

Here’s how I made the card:

  1. Take a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla CS and fold it in half using a bone folder.
  2. Stamp the Sanded background onto a 5″ x 5″ piece of Riding Hood Red CS using Riding Hood Red Classic ink.
  3. Cut a 6″ diameter circle from a piece of Love Letter DP using the Circle Scissors Plus and a Glass Mat.
  4. Stick the 6″ diameter circle onto the Riding Hood Red CS, towards the bottom right, using SNAIL adheisve.  The circle will extend over the Riding Hood Red CS.  Turn the Riding Hood Red CS over and trim off any of the circle that is overhanging.
  5. Center and stick the Riding Hood Red CS to the card using SNAIL adhesive.
  6. Stamp the trio heart image and two other heart images from the I Heart Hearts stamp set onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla CS using Riding Hood Red Classic ink.
  7. Punch out the trio image using the Heart to Heart punch.  Cut out the other two heart images, using paper snips, leaving a slight vanilla border around the images.  Set aside.
  8. Stamp the greeting onto a 1/2″ x 2″ piece of Very Vanilla CS using Early Espresso Classic ink.
  9. Sponge around the edges of the 1/2″ x 2″ piece of Whisper White CS using the Tea Stain ink from the Distressing Essentials kit and a wedge of a Stampin’ Sponge.
  10. Ink up the L, O, V and E chipboard letters using Riding Hood Red Craft ink.  Sprinkle Iridescent Ice embossing powder over the letters and tap off any excess.  Heat the letters with a Heat Tool until the embossing powder has melted.
  11. Stick the chipboard letters to the card using Tombow multipurpose liquid glue.
  12. Stick the stamped and cut out hearts to the card using SNAIL adhesive for two hearts and Stampin’ Dimensionals for the other three hearts.
  13. Stick the greeting to the card using SNAIL adhesive.
  14. Stick self adhesive rhinestones to the card, as shown.  You’re done!

I hope you enjoyed today’s card.

“Love You” Valentine’s Card & Some Updates

Posted: Monday, January 25th, 2010 | Comments (38)

Happy Monday everyone!  have a few different things to share with you today – a project of course, a special offer and I’m announcing the winners of The Write Stuff Class.

Today’s card is a Valentin’es card, or it could also be used as an anniversary card.  Of course I’m using one of my favorite color combinations – Pretty in Pink and Regal Rose  (although for some reason, the Regal Rose looked much darker than usual) and one of my favorite accessories – buttons!

You can download a pdf handout of how I made the card HERE.  The handout includes a picture, full supply list and step-by-step directions.

You can watch the video below:

Directions:

  1. Take a 4 ¼” x 11” piece of Pretty in Pink CS and fold it in half using a bone folder to create a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” card. Sponge the edges of the card using Regal Rose Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge.
  2. Take a 2” x 4” piece of Regal Rose CS and scallop along one of the 4” sides using the Scallop Trim Border punch.
  3. Stick a 3 ¾” x 4” piece of the Shades of Spring DP onto the scalloped Regal Rose CS piece using Snail adhesive.  Center and stick this piece along the bottom edge of the card front.
  4. Stamp your greeting in Basic Black Classic ink just above the scalloped border, towards the right side of the card, using a Stamp-a-ma-jig if necessary.
  5. Using your Big Shot, die cut the tag from the Stampin’ Up! Two Tags die out of Whisper White CS.  Sponge the edges with Regal Rose Classic ink and a wedge of Stamping Sponge.  Stick the tag to the card front on an angle as shown using Snail adhesive.
  6. Tie an 8” piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta ribbon in a bow and stick towards the top of the tag using a mini glue dot.
  7. “Thread” two small white buttons and a pink button using slivers of coordinating CS.  Stick the buttons along the bottom of the tag using mini glue dots. Set the card aside for a moment.
  8. Stamp the large heart from the “A Happy Heart” stamp set onto a scrap of Whisper White CS in Regal Rose Classic ink.  Pat VersaMark ink all over the heart and then sprinkle on Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Heat emboss with a heat tool.  Cut out the heart leaving a small border of white all around.
  9. Stick the heart so that it is half on the tag and half on the DP using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
  10. Dry emboss a scrap of Pretty in Pink CS using the Polka Dots textured impressions folder.  Punch out some hearts using the Heart to Heart punch. Sponge the edges of the tall heart with Regal Rose Classic ink.  Stick the heart onto the tag so that it slightly overlaps the larger heart using two Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!

Penny For Your Thoughts

Posted: Wednesday, October 7th, 2009 | Comments (22)

 october workshop 021

ETA: Yes, I looked at the card in the photo and realized that I forgot to put in the H.  It was cut, I was just so frazzled that somehow I forgot it.  So no need to mention…………….I know, pretty embarassing!

Well, this weeks punch tutorial annoyed the heck out of me.  I like how the penny turned out, but could not seem to get it into a card that I liked.  I will be trying a few other combinations, but for the meantime you can look at this card.  Now unfortunately I won’t be doing a video this week, my kids are all sick, as am I and I have no voice worth listening to.  I figured rather then subjecting you to my hoarse croak, I would just do a picture tutorial, and then replace it with a video when my voice is better.  Ok, so the idea behind this tutorial is the expression: “A Penny for your thoughts”.  I love that expression, and rather then gluing on a real penny I decided to make one out of paper which could be larger than the real thing.  The penny is popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Now I would have preferred to have the whole contents shifted upwards a bit, but when I started gluing I had intended to have an A at the top, and discovered that it looked like a Dunce cap.  I removed the A but was stuck with it to low.  Oh well.  As a side not, you can also make this coin in yellow CS to imitate gold coins.

Download JPEG Penny Silhouette Here
Download and save on your computer.  To print, open file in a word document and print on to cheap printer CS.  Size should not be altered for 1 3/4″ circle, but can be altered for smaller coins.

 Tutorial:

 october workshop 023
Print out your silhouette template on to some cheap Cardstock.  Trace the image on to your Creamy Caramel CS and then cut out.  Punch out a circle with your 1 3/4″ circle punch.

 october workshop 026
Take your pieces and sponge with Creamy Caramel Classic ink.  Be generous and go reasonably far in towards the center.

october workshop 027
Now take your Sponge Dauber and sponge around the pieces with Chocolate Chip Classic ink.  Keep it closer to the edges, and add a little extra to the hair lines.

october workshop 028
With your White Gel pen, add some lines along the edges of the penny.  This will be the highlighted ridge that runs around.  Next with your Chocolate Chip marker, take the writing end and add small dots all the way around.  I simply pulled out features from a real penny to mimick the same look.

october workshop 029
Now glue the silhouette to the penny backing.  Add some highlights with your gel pen and some lowlights with your Chocolate Chip marker.  You are done!

Hugs,

sophiasiggy

Get Fresh with Sushi!

Posted: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 | Comments (46)

sushi 008

Well I am so sorry for posting this late in the day!!  This was my daughters first day back to school, and the whole day just got away from me!  It has definitely been one of those non stop days, so this will have to be a fast post as I need to get to bed (no more sleeping in).  Today’s punch tutorial is sushi and chopsticks with a dash of wasabi on the side.    It was super easy to make and super fun.  The topings are one of those things that you can add anything you want.  Now hopefully no one will get offended by my caption/greeting.  It is meant to eventually go to my husband who loves sushi among other things.  Oh and just to let your know my inspiration was from a die that featured Japanese Cultural themes.

Tutorial:

sushi 002
Start by punching out one Wide Oval Punch from Basic Black CS, one Small Oval Punch from Whisper White CS, and some 1/8″ circles (or the smallest you have) out of Ruby Red CS.

sushi 004
The Basic Black Wide Oval had the tips removed using the 1 3/8″ Square Punch.

sushi 006
Before punching the Ruby Red circles, I sponged the CS with a touch of Real Red.  The Small Oval was sponged with a touch of Creamy Caramel and then run through the Big Shot with the mini dots from the Stampin’Up Backgrounds 1 embossing plates.  The Black was sponged with a touch of Whisper White Craft ink using a Sponge Dauber.  I do not recommend using any other type of sponge tool because you need control when working with small pieces.  If you notice the sponging on the Black piece, you will see that the Whisper White craft ink is kept light and only blended in to the Right hand side bottom and top.  The texture plate that you run the Small Oval through will simulate the texture of the rice.

sushi 007
Here it shows the pieces glued together.  The red circles were glazed (after gluing) with Crystal Effects.  The Summer Sun mini rectangles were sponged with Creamy Caramel and a touch of Real Red.  Dazzling Diamonds was added to the yellow sushi.  The red circles represent the salmon roe that you often find on Sushi, the Little yellow piece are some obscure vegetable.

To put the whole card together, you will need to punch Trio Flower Punch flowers out of Kiwi Kiss (or Old Olive) CS and sponge with Old Olive ink.  These will be glued in an overlapping fashion to create the Wasabi.  The Chopsticks were made by cutting Close to Cocoa CS at an angle and then sponging with Chocolate Chip Classic ink.  A small bit of shading was traced around the Sushi using my Blender pen and a bit of Basic Grey Classic ink.  The shading was kept very light.  Hope you enjoy.

Hugs,
sophiasiggy
