Where has the week gone?  It feels like we’ve barely been home and already the week is ending!  This weekend we’re planning on heading to Ottawa for our annual 1 week family trip.  Every year – either the last week in July or first week in August, we meet up with my sister and her family and spend the week together with my parents.  Although it’s a week we really look forward to (especially the kids) – coming on the heels of CHA it’s pretty challenging to try and catch up from the week we missed, and get ready for another week away.

Today’s project is a great way to use up all those little patterned paper strips and ribbon bits that you’ve been “saving” (a.k.a. hoarding – if you’re anything like me). For this card I used one of my favourite new patterned paper collections from the Stampin’ Up! Catalog.  We do have a video for this in the Paper Crafter’s Library.

Supplies:

Stamps: Curly Cute (Stampin’ Up!)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko)
Paper:  Crumb Cake CS, Whisper White CS, Just Add Cake DP (Stampin’ Up!)
Accessories: paper snips, mini glue dots, Tangerine Tango ½” Scallop Dots Ribbon, Daffodil Delight (or So Saffron) Taffeta ribbon, Baja Breeze ⅛” Taffeta Ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); Double Sided adhesive (Thermoweb); orange rhinestones (Kaiser); Crop-a-Dile Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers)

Today’s project is another fun card I made with a stamp set I’ve owned for a few years now called “Cheers to You”.  I paired it with a brand new greeting set called “Curly Cute”.

Here’s how I made the card:

1. Dry emboss the front of a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ Crumb Cake CS card using the Big Shot and the Polka Dot embossing folder.
2. Center and stick a 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Pumpkin Pie Patterns DP to the card using SNAIL adhesive.
3. Stamp three drink images from the Cheers to You stamp set onto a 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White CS using Basic Black Classic ink.
4. Stamp the “congratulations” greeting from the Curly Cute stamp set just under the drink images using Basic Black Classic ink.
5. Color in the three drink images using Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Real Red Classic inks and a blender pen.
6. Add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the drink images using a 2-way glue pen.
7. Take a 5 1/2″ piece of 1/4″ Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon and fold about 1 1/2″ of it onto itself and secure the two pieces together using a mini glue dot.  Repeat using a 5 1/2″ piece of 5/8″ Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and again with a 5 1/2″ piece of 1/4″ Tempting Turquoise Grosgrain ribbon.
8. Stick the folded over ribbons to your card using SNAIL adhesive, so that the top of the loop of the ribbon extends about 1/4″ above the top edge of the Pumpkin Pie DP.
9. Cut the ends of the two Tempting Turquoise ribbons on an angle and the end of the Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon in a fish-tail.
10. Stick the stamped 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Whisper White CS onto the DP piece, about 1/4″ down from the top edge of the DP.  
11. Thread an 8″ piece of linen thread through a Pumpkin Pie Designer button and tie it in a bow.  Trim the ends if necessary.
12. Stick the button to the Whisper White CS piece just below the Pumpkin Pie ribbon, using a mini glue dot.  You’re done!
