11th Birthday Card & a Video Featuring Stampin’ Up!’s Celebrations Collection
Posted: Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 | CommentsToday I wanted to share with you all a fun and easy birthday card I created for my son’s 11th birthday. I used Stampin’ Up!’s Celebrations collection – the Celebrations Designer Paper, the Celebrations Quick Accents and the Bday Party Rub-ons. These are some of my favourite products in the current catalog because the colors and designs are so bright and vibrant – they are perfect for kids, but even better – can be used for both boys and girls.
As part of my card design I decided to incorporate some fun metal accents, which I created by die cutting and punching a lightweight copper foil (copper on one side and silver on the other).
I decided to film a video for you all, to show you how I made the card.
Paper: Real Red CS, Whisper White CS;, Celebrations DP (Stampin’ Up!)
Accessories: Stars #2 Originals die, Cogs punch, Stampin’ Up! Timeless Type Alphabet Junior, Bday Party Rub-ons, Celebrations Quick Accents (Stampin’ Up!); Matte Accents (Ranger); Copper Premium Craft Foil (Spellbinder’s)
“Celebrate Your Day” Stampin’ Up! Banner Card
Posted: Thursday, March 24th, 2011 | CommentsToday’s project is a fun banner card I based on one of Teri Anderson’s designs in the Paper Crafts Card Styles magazine. To create my banners I used one of my favorite collections of Stampin’ Up! Designer Paper – the Celebrations collection. To create the lines that my banners are “hanging on” I used some Baker’s Twine from Papertrey Ink. Stampin’ Up! is going to be carrying two colors of Baker’s Twine in their upcoming Summer Mini Catalogue which will be released May 1st – they are going to have a red and a brown. They’ll also have a plain white one which will be perfect for creating custom colors of twine by dyeing them with ink refills.
For Paper Crafter’s Library members, the video and pdf handout for this card will be uploaded tomorrow.
Supplies:
Paper: Real Red CS, Pacific Point CS, Whisper White textured CS, Real Red DP from the Brights Stack, Celebrations DP (Stampin’ Up!)
Accessories: 1 3/4″ circle punch, paper cutter with scoring and cutting blade, Tombow liquid glue, bone folder, Bday Party Rub-Ons (Stampin’ Up!); baker’s twine (Papertrey Ink)
Celebrate Your Birthday Card & Some Updates
Posted: Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 | CommentsSince today’s blog post is a long one, I figured I’d offer the instructions for today’s card in a pdf handout form which you can download and save for free HERE.
Well, last time I posted I thought things had slowed down. I was totally wrong *LOL* Isn’t that always the way? I think that one of these days I’m going to have to come to terms with the fact that life is never slow, and just find a way to make it happen. I had an absolutely amazing time at Founder’s Circle. I left early Wednesday morning and arrived very late Sunday night. I do have lots of pictures to share, but I haven’t yet had the time to go through them and edit/re-size them. I think at this point, I’ll have to post after I’m back from my next trip since I’m still running full tilt, as I am now preparing for my Mediterranean cruise with my husband. We leave Friday and are gone until Oct 8th. Upon returning we leave for Ottawa the next day for the Canadian thanksgiving. We’ll finally be back home on Oct. 12th.
So of course since both Todd and I are going away there seems to be twice as much to do. In addition to business stuff, I have to make sure everything is set here with the kids. We have family coming here to stay with the kids, so we have to make sure that we have all their health info, their school info, their extra-curricular activities info, the in-case of an emergency info, groceries in the house etc. (can you tell I’m a little nervous? *LOL*) Then there’s all our laundry and packing and buying any last minute things that we might need……I tell ya my head is spinning. I’m so worried I’m going to forget to do something critical. I sure hope this trip is more than worth it because at this point my stress is sky high.
I just wanted to post a couple of updates on what’s going on here at the blog and with all my classes and other stuff. Soph will be posting a few times a week, although I’m not 100% sure on what days. Things are still pretty busy around her house as she’s still settling in after her move. The October Class Planner/Stamp Class by Email & Workshop Planner are still scheduled to be released on October 1st.
12 Weeks of Christmas
October 3rd is World Card Making Day, and I am planning on celebrating by kicking off my 12 Weeks of Christmas event. Can you believe we’re almost at the 12 week mark before Christmas? Starting on Sunday, October 3rd, once a week for twelve weeks my sister Sophia and I will be sending out a special email newsletter to subscribers ONLY. Each email newsletter will feature a fantastic Christmas project ranging from cards, tags, gifts & gift packaging designed EXCLUSIVELY for this event. These will be projects that we will not be featuring here on my blog or in my regular email newsletters.
I’m sure you’ve probably seen plenty of other blogs advertising their own 12 weeks of Christmas but in true Sunny Stampin’ style – we’ve added our own unique twist. Each email will link to a PRIVATE WEB PAGE from which you will be able to download a pdf with the project instructions so that you can print it off and put it in your project ideas binder (don’t have a project ideas binder? – then you’d better start one *lol*). Not only that though – on the private web page you’ll be able to watch an EXCLUSIVE, LIMITED video on how the project was done. Each video will only be available for ONE week. Once again, these videos are not going to be available for public viewing – they will not be uploaded either here or to You Tube. Best of all, the 12 Weeks of Christmas event is absolutely FREE! “Wish Big” card with the Word Play stamp set & Celebrations DP
Posted: Monday, August 2nd, 2010 | CommentsWell, our “vacation” is over. All in all we had a fantastic time, but now that we’re home, “crunch” time is all of a sudden hitting full force. There are just SO many things to do, and not enough time. Isn’t that always the way it is though?
Today’s card is a fast and easy card which focuses on this fun number pattern from the Celebrations DP collection. When I first saw it, I immediately fell in love with it and thought it would be just perfect for a birthday card. Here’s how I made today’s card:
-
Take a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of textured Real Red CS and fold it in half with a bone folder.
-
Center and stick a 4″ x 4″ piece of DP to a 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Certainly Celery DP.
-
Center and stick the matted DP to the card front.
-
Cut a 1 1/2″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Whisper White CS and round the top and bottom corners on the left side with a 1/2″ corner punch.
-
Stamp the greeting from the Wish Big stamp set in Basic Black Classic ink onto the Whisper White CS piece.
-
Stick three large red rhinestones, one above the other, along the right hand side of the Whisper White CS greeting piece.
-
Stick the Whisper White greeting piece towards the bottom right of the DP using Stampin’ Dimensionals – about 1/2″ up from the bottom edge of the Certainly Celery CS piece and about 1/8″ away from the right hand edge of the card. You’re done!
P.S. We haven’t had time to create the post with the Class & Workshop Planner and the Give-Away yet – that will come out either tonight or tomorrow.

Birthday Card featuring the Sweet & Sour Specialty DP
Posted: Monday, July 26th, 2010 | CommentsI hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I had actually meant to post a card for you Friday since I actually did have one made, but time just got away from me. This week Soph and I (and our families) are visiting our parents. While it’s good to be “home” and wonderful to see our parents, going away is always a challenge. There’s just so much packing and preparation, not just for going away, but in prepping to take what work we can with us. These are the times that Soph and I wish we could hitch up our stamp studios to our vehicles.
Anyways, we did pre-make all our projects for the blog this week so we will have a project to share with you every day.
Today’s card is a bright and colorful birthday card made with the Sweet & Sour Specialty Designer Paper. I have to tell you I just love the bright bold colors and patterns of this paper, in particular the dotted pattern I chose for this card. It’s at times like this that I wish I could buy singles of our papers, because if I could, I’d for sure stock up on these two patterns.
-
Take a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of textured Very Vanilla CS and fold it in half with a bone folder to create a 5 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ card.
-
Cut two 2″ x 2″ squares of the orange dotted DP and two 2″ x 2″ squares of the Rose Red DP. Stick the DP squares to the card front, leaving about a 1/8″ space in between the DP squares.
-
Cut a 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of textured Pink Pirouette DP and stamp the greeting “birthday” in the bottom right corner of the CS in Basic Black Classic ink.
-
Center and stick the Pink Pirouette CS strip to the card front with SNAIL adhesive.
-
Punch a scrap of Pumpkin Pie CS with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. Stick the punched border to the Pink Pirouette CS strip just above the greeting using Tombow Multi-purpose adhesive.
-
Gather up some chipboard letters that spell the word “happy”. Ink them up with Pumpkin Pie Craft ink. Sprinkle on Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat with your heat tool.
-
Stick the letters onto the Pink Pirouette CS strip with Tombow adhesive.
-
“Thread” two Pumpkin Pie buttons with small sliver of Pumpkin Pie CS. Stick the buttons to the card front with mini glue dots. You’re done!
Well, I hope you enjoyed today’s card, and we’ll be back tomorrow!
