Sweet Baby card with the Baby Bundle stamp set and Nursery Suite DP

Although I don’t know anyone that’s expecting, I just couldn’t resist playing with the Nursery Suite designer paper. It has such cute patterns that are fantastic for either a girl or a boy. Anyways, I figure it couldn’t hurt to have a few baby cards on hand, just in case *lol*
Here’s how I made the card:
- Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Whisper White CS and fold it in half using a bone folder.
- Center and stick a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Nursery Suite Specialty DP onto a 4″ x 5″ piece of Textured Pink Pirouette CS using SNAIL adhesive.
- Take a 3″ piece of Pretty in Pink satin ribbon. Center and stick one end of the ribbon to the Nursery Suite DP. Bring the other end of the ribbon down and around to the back of the Pink Pirouette CS and stick it down with SNAIL adhesive. The end of the ribbon on the front of the card will be covered by your stamped image.
- Center and stick the matted Nursery Suite Specialty DP to the card front using SNAIL adhesive.
- Stamp the baby tee on a scrap piece of Whisper White CS using Basic Black classic ink. Color in the image using Pink Pirouette Classic ink for the tee, Pretty in Pink Classic ink for the heart and Creamy Caramel Classic ink for the hanger.
- Cut out the baby tee using paper snips, leaving a narrow white border around the image.
- Stamp the greeting near the top of a 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of So Saffron CS using Basic Black classic ink.
- Stick the baby tee cut out image to the So Saffron CS, just below the greeting, using a Stampin’ Dimensional.
- Run a piece of Scor tape along the edges of all four sides of the 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of So Saffron CS.
- Peel the backing off the Scor tape and sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds glitter over the tape. Tap off any excess.
- Stick the 2″ x 3 1/2″ piece of So Saffron CS to the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals, so that the top is aligned with the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Nursery Suite Specialty DP. The bottom should be covering the end of the ribbon.
- Tie a 10″ piece of Pretty in Pink Satin ribbon in a bow. Trim the ends of the ribbon if necessary. Stick the bow to the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, just below the greeting, using a mini glue dot. You’re done.

Baby Card

I’m not sure why, but for some reason I’m feeling in the mood to make baby cards….no I’m not pregnant (thank heavens!)…5 children is more than enough *lol* When my husband and I started planning our family we never really discussed how many children we wanted – I just knew that I wanted more than 2 and I always wanted “even numbers”. So after having our first two boys, it was only natural for us to try again…lo and behold we were blessed with a daughter. As we were hemming and hawing about whether or not to have more, we found out we were expecting….and so we had a third boy. By this point I had decided that 4 was nice even number and we would stop there. My husband was scheduled for the ‘ole “snip snip”, but the week of his appointment couldn’t find his health card (yeah, I was suspicous too at first, except that I KNOW he felt like 4 was enough and he’s not normally the type to misplace important documents). So of course here in Canada: no health card, no “snip snip”. About a month later he found his health card (it was at the bottom of his briefcase) but by that time it was too late – the Lord had seen fit to bless us with number 5 *lol* (another boy). I truly feel that the way this all happened must have been part of a divine plan. BUT 11 years worth of diapers is definitely more than enough – I’m very happy with my little “crew” and I’ve also decided that I can live with an odd number of children – funny how that happens! *lol*
Anyways, today’s card has no stamping whatsoever on it – not that I planned it that way, it just seemed to happen. It’s also a very odd-sized card – it’s 4″ x 6″ – which of course means there’s no envelope size that fits it, so when I have time I’m going to see if I can make my own envelope for it. Here’s how I made the card:
- Cut a 4″ x 12″ piece of Whisper White CS (I happened to have some Whisper White textured CS so that is what I used) and fold it half with a bone folder.
- Take a 1″ piece of Sticky Strip and stick it horizontally about 1″ up from the bottom of a 3 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Certainly Celery CS (I used textured CS because I had a scrap that was big enough). Remove the red backing from the Sticky Strip and take three 3 1/2″ piece of Silver Elastic Cord (from the Mini Catalogue) and press the ends onto the Sticky Strip. Sandwich another 1″ piece of Sticky Strip on top to hold the ribbon ends in place.
- Take a 7″ piece of Bashful Blue double stitched ribbon and lay it across the Certainly Celery CS piece about 3/4″ up from the bottom edge of the Certainly Celery piece. Make sure the ribbon covers the Sticky Strip. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick down with Snail adhesive.
- Take an 8″ piece of So Saffron striped grosgrain ribbon, center it on top of the Bashful Blue ribbon and bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS. Stick the ribbon ends down with Snail adhesive.
- Take a 4 1/2″ piece of So Saffron striped ribbon and tie it in a knot around the first piece of So Saffron ribbon – slide the knot towards the left edge of the card. Set aside for a moment.
- Take the chipboard letters to spell “baby” from the On Board Loads of Letters chipboard collection – cover them thoroughly in Bashful Blue Craft ink (you squish your ink pad onto the letters until they are completely coated) and then emboss them with iridescent ice embossing powder & your heat tool.
- Take three chipboard stars (I used stars from a retired chipboard collection that I still have). Cover the stars with So Saffron craft ink and emboss with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and your heat tool.
- Place a Stampin’ Dimensional on the back of each of the stars (cut the Stampin’ Dimensional in half if necessary). Peel the backing off of the Stampin’ Dimensionals. Position your silver cord where desired, trim it if necessary, hold it in place as you stick the star on top – the Dimensional will sandwhich the silver cord to the card front and hold it in place. Repeat for the other two stars.
- Stick the chipboard letters to the card front – I used Snail adhesive but you can also use Crystal Effects or Tombow Multi-purpose adhesive.
- Pierce two holes in the top right corner of the Certainly Celery CS piece with a paper-piercing tool and foam mat. Insert two silver brads and open the prongs on the back. Mat the Certainly Celery CS piece to the Whisper White card front. You’re done!

Punched Sweet Pea by Soph

Today’s project involves another Punch Pal. I have done two variations on a Sweet Pea. I wanted to come up with something cute which would be a good image for a boy or girl. I am a big fan of vegetable and fruit images, so this was right up my alley. I will give the individual shots and then the Tutorial photo’s. Hope you enjoy today’s projects, and I will be back next week with another punch projects.
The card uses Pale Plum, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Basic Black and Kiwi Kiss for the the leaves. The words are made using the Simple Serif Die, and the leaves are cut from the leaf Sizzlet die. The flowers are made using the Flower Trio punch. The sponging is done with Cool Caribbean which is sadly retired, but Tempting Turquoise would also look awsome. Last I used my 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to add the sparkle.
The box is made using my Silhouette die cutting machine. Yes I know, its not Stampin’Up, but it makes boxes and super large letters a breeze. Sometimes I need large letters for banners or signs. The CS colors are Pale Plum, Certainly Celery, Blush Blossom, and Kiwi Kiss (for vines which are from the Swirly die). Flowers were made by hand using Pale Plum and Certainly Celery the night before.
The tag was made from Whisper White cardstock with the top corners trimmed down. The ribbon is SU Whisper White Satin Ribbon, the words are from the Simple Serif die and was cut from Basic Black CS, the inks are Kiwi Kiss and Cool Caribbean. The little tab on the end is made from a 1″ circle which was folded in the center and then placed over the end with glue. A hole was then punched out using my Crop-a-dile.
Tutorial
Start by punching out two Wide Ovals out of Certainly Celery, two 3/4″ circles out Certainly Celery and one out of Blush Blossom, and two 1/2″ circles out of Certainly Celery. Next sponge all the Certainly celery pieces with some Old Olive and a touch of Hunter Green. Next take your Blush Blossom piece and sponge in some Rose Red cheeks and add two dots for eyes using your black Stampin Marker. The two small 1/2″ circles will be used to create peas which can act as decorative elements for your other projects.
Next you will take your two Wide Ovals and you will cut one of them in half, and then you will cut a curve into the newly created straight edge. You should now have one whole Wide Oval and two crescents.
Here is where you can vary the look of your baby pea. You can place your face on a stampin’Dimensional and then after glueing down the two crecents to the outside edges of the whole Wide Oval, you can adhere it to the top portion of your pea.
The other option is to glue down one side of the sweet pea crecent, glue your two extra peas, and then glue the top crecent over these. Next you will take your head which is on a Stampin’Dimensional and you will adhere it so that the baby is peeking out from the peas.
Lastly, you are going to take your Signo White Gel pen and you are going to add little highlights. Your Peas are now ready to use. You can embelish tags, gifts, cards or containers.

Fun and Fast Notes Baby Card & some Secret Comment Patrol Winners

Today I thought I’d share a simple baby card with you. I don’t actually have anyone that I need a baby card for at the moment but I saw a very similar card layout to this one in my most recent issue of Scrapbooks Etc. magazine and wanted to try it out. Unlike some of the cards I’ve posted recently where the idea started with the embellishments, in this case the starting point of my card was the layout.
After I had the layout idea, I then started looking through my Inspiration Book for patterns of designer paper (DP) that might “fit” the idea. The Tea Party DP collection immediately jumped out at me because the colors are all in shades of pastels and it has so many soft, subtle patterns – perfect for baby cards.
After I had settled on my DP, I then started digging through my stamp sets to see what I had that was for babies. It turns out, I have very little (guess that means I *NEED* to buy more *lol*) – the only current sent I have is the Nursery Necessities stamp set, which didn’t have the “look” I was going for. I was just about to give up on the whole baby card idea when I found my Fun & Fast Notes stamp set.
Now Fun & Fast Notes is a perfect “starter” stamp set because it has a variety of different images and greetings suited to a bunch of different occasions. In fact when it first came out a few years ago, it was at the top of my list and one of the first things I purchased. As my stamp collection grew though, it kind of fell by the wayside. In fact I think the last time I used it was 2 years ago for a Fun & Fast Notes class. When I pulled it out, it was kind of like greeting an old friend *grin* AND it was just perfect for this card layout.
Here’s how I made my card:

Take a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Pretty in Pink CS and fold it in half using your bone folder. This will be your card base. Set aside for a moment.

Cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White CS and emboss it using the Big Shot and the small polka dot texturz plate from the Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds 1 collection.

Cut a 1″ x 4 3/4″ piece of striped DP and a 2″ x 5″ piece of pink DP. Center and layer the striped DP over top of the pink DP – you only want to them to overlap a bit. Stamp a greeting (I used the greeting from Nursery Necessities) underneath the striped DP, towards the left, in Basic Black ink. Center and mount the DP along the bottom of the Whisper White CS piece.

Pierce two holes along the left edge of the striped DP and insert two Pretty in Pink brads from the Soft Subtles collection. Center and mount the Whisper White CS piece to the Pretty in Pink card front.

Stamp the baby carriage from Fun and Fast Notes onto a scrap of Whisper White CS. Punch it out using the 1 3/4″ circle punch. Color it in using a blender pen and Pink Pirouette and Pretty in Pink Classic ink. Place small dabs of Crystal Effects onto the polka dots on the baby carriage and sprinkle on some Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Let dry.

Use your Big Shot and the Stampin’ Up! Pennant die to die cut a scalloped circle out of Pretty in Pink CS.

Pierce a hole in the center of each scallop with a paper piercer and foam mat.

Mat the image onto the scalloped circle using two Stampin’ Dimensionals and then mat the scalloped circle onto your card front using two Stampin’ Dimensionals. You’re done!

I am planning on having a workshop in June, but my customers seem to like to attend workshops at my house. I’ve only had one customer host a workshop and now she is my downline and hosting her own workshops (which are even more fun for me because I don’t have to plan them)! Anyway workshops are a great time to get together and have fun with all the ladies in my life.

Punch Baby Bug Tutorial

Well I am so sorry ladies for having this post up so late. I was working on the Punch Bear Tutorial and realized that there was a couple of problems with the document I was using. So the Punch Bear will be coming soon, I just have to resolve a couple things with it. In the meantime, I have a Punch Bug Baby to share. I came across this image over here. It was such a cute image, and I really wanted to create something like it, but bigger. I just love fairy’s and bugs in a whimsical style, so this was right up my alley.
Step 1: Start by cutting out two 1″ circles from Blush Blossom CS and Riding Hood Red CS which I treated using last weeks tutorial. Next I took my Wide Oval Punch and punched 1 Blush Blossom oval, and half of my treated Riding Hood Red CS. Next you will take your Blush Blossom Wide Oval and trim away one side to create a tear drop shape.
Step 2: Take you 1″ circle punch and flip over. Place your punched Riding Hood Red CS circle inside and punch a crescent sliver from it. This will become the cap of the baby bug.
Step 3: Glue the sliver on to the baby face, and take the half Wide Oval in Riding Hood Red, and cut down to create Ladybug diapers. Sponge Creamy Caramel around the edges to give some dimension.
Step 4: Glue the head to the body. Place it so that it has a slight tilt as though the baby is turning his head and looking towards you. Place the body on a scrap of Blush Blossom and with a pencil, draw little legs. The feet and hands are just little half circles. Trace around the rest of the image with your pencil, then remove the baby and cut out.
Step 5: You should have a little body cut out. Now you can erase the pencil and glue your baby to the hand and foot base.
Step 6: Add a little sponging with Creamy Caramel to the hands and feet, and with a Creamy Caramel marker, draw a line for the foot to define it. Draw two little eyes and some hair tufts with Black marker, and then add some blush to the cheeks with some of your Rose Red SU chalk. Add little dots to the cheeks with your white gel pen.
Step 7: With a Large Oval Punch, punch out 2 ‘wings’ from some CS vellum. Sponge the wings with Baja Breeze Classic Ink. Glue it to the under neck of the baby. Glue the baby to a die cut Scallop circle (larger of the Scallop Circle #2 Die). The scallop circle was sponged first with Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive to give it a grassy look. Baby was mounted on a 4″ x 4″ Riding Hood Red card. Black polka dots were punched out using my Crop-a-dile and glued around the card. Naturally Serif alphabet provided the letters to spell BABY, and the polka dots were glittered with black glitter from the Fine Galaxy Glitter Pack. Last, using my 2-way Glue Pen, I added streaks to the wings and glittered with Dazzling Diamonds.
Voila, it is done. Again I apologize for not having the bear up, but I promise he will be here soon. In the meantime, thanks so much for stopping by!
