Candy Punch Tutorial
Posted on: Wednesday, September 16th, 2009
Well I am really excited because I got to try my first ever Video Punch Tutorial. I had a few misspeaks and such, but otherwise it went ok. What kind of blew me away was how much Andrea and I sound alike! Since through the years it seems that more and more people are asking us if we are twins, we have decided to officially announce that we are indeed twins, 4 1/2 years apart. We are still trying to decide on our new birthday, it will have to be somewhere in between our two dates. So if you are trying to tell us apart on video, just remember that she has the nicely manicured finger nails and mine are the plain short cut nails. Ok, well on to the project itself.
I have designed a simple project to showcase the punched candies as too many card layers would have taken the emphasis away from the candy and onto the card. These projects are quite simple and would be great to do with children as it uses minimal punches and shading. I hope you like this week’s projects and I look forward to doing another for you next week. I can’t guarantee it being another video as I am visiting Andrea’s this weekend and have not done videos alone.
List of Pieces for Punch Projects:
Hard Candy: one 1 3/8″ circles and one 5 petal flower punch. Both should be from matching CS, or you can use vellum for the 5 petal flower punch to make it look more likea wrapper.
Lollypop: One 1 3/8″ circle and one large flower from Boho Blossoms flower punch (both should be matching CS unless you want to do the Boho Blossom with vellum fro wrapper. You should also have one lollypop stick from Whisper White CS at least 6″ long and approximately 3/16″ wide.
Candy Corn: three 1 3/8″ circle punches out of Whisper White, Summer Sun and Pumpkin Pie.
For all projects, have ready your Mono Adhesive, your Paper Snips and your White Gel pen along with Stamping Sponges, Sponge Dauber, Ruby Red Classic ink, Tempting Turqoise Classic ink and Elegant Eggplant.

How very fun to hear your voice on the new video! It adds such a personal touch. Though many have not had the pleasure of meeting you in person it seems as if we have.

No kdding, you two really sound alike, if this is not a punch tutorial (special from you, Sophia), I won’t be able to tell at all. Good things that even though you are 4 1/2 years apart, it’s no way to tell who is the older one : )
My sister is 2 1/2 years older than me, people thought /still think constantly that I am the older one, not very fun for me : (
Anyway, thanks for the cute candy cards, great one for Halloween!

Halloween’s not my thing but for a few of my friends it’s their favorite holiday. They always want to make Halloween cards and I don’t want to buy a lot of sets I’ll only use once. This card is the perfect for all of us. Thanks

I can’t believe this is your very first video. You are a NATURAL!! WOW!! Thank you for such an AWESOME tutorial!! Of course, I LOVE the punch art, but I especially appreciate how you demonstrated the inking and explained why your ink was heavier on one side and the gel pen highlights are on the lighter side. I learned a lot in 10 minutes!! This is truly a great project to do with kids. I think my grandaughter will love it, as it is simple with a great outcome!! Thank you for taking the time to do a video. I only wish I could take a class with both of you. You both ROCK!!

OK, well obviously I replied on the wrong post above, sorry. I watched your video Sophia to see how you did the candy corn- cool! What do you do if you don’t have all the punches? I don’t have the boho or the 5 petal flower- any suggestions for changing that up?
Thanks!
