“Boo” Halloween Card
Posted on: Tuesday, October 26th, 2010Today I wanted to share with you a fun Halloween card I created using the new Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder in Stampin’ Up! Holiday Mini Catalogue. It is so much fun to use, and when paired with Vellum CS gives a WOW effect. I also really liked the effect created by the Crystal Effects. The very last step to the card was to trace out most of the web lines with Crystal Effect. While the gloss looks neat (kind of like a web with dew), the part I liked the best was how the moisture in the Crystal Effects buckled the vellum a little bit – but did so irregularly – making the web look more life-like. Unfortunately it doesn’t really show up in the picture.
Here’s how I made the card:
-
Take a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Black CS and fold it in half with a bone folder to create a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card. Set aside for a moment.
-
Dry emboss a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Vellum CS using the Spider Web Textured Impressions folder and your Big Shot.
-
Sponge the edges of the embossed Vellum with Basic Black Classic ink and a wedge of a stamping sponge.
-
Stick the embossed Vellum onto a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Pear Pizzazz with mini glue dots. I placed the mini glue dots on the back of the Vellum CS at the intersecting web points – that way they don’t show through the Vellum.
-
Lay a 5 1/2″ piece of Certainly Celery satin ribbon across the bottom of the Vellum, about 3/8″ up from the bottom edge of the Vellum. Bring the ends of the ribbon around to the back of the CS and stick them down with SNAIL adhesive.
-
Center and stick the matted Vellum CS onto a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Rich Razzleberry CS. Now center and stick this piece to the Basic Black card front. Set aside for a moment.
-
Using Dotto adhesive, stick your chipboard letters (to spell BOO) onto a scrap piece of paper. Color the chipboard letters with Basic Black Craft ink. While the ink is still wet, sprinkle on Heat and Stick powder. Heat the powder with a heat tool until it melts. Sprinkle on black glitter and then heat set with the heat tool.
-
Stick the letters onto the bottom of the card with Crystal Effects.
-
Punch two bats out of Basic Black CS using the Bitty Bat punch. Place the bats onto a scrap piece of CS using Dotto adhesive. Pat a VersaMark pad all over them and then sprinkle on Heat and Stick powder. Melt the powder with a heat tool. Sprinkle on black glitter and heat set.
-
Stick the bats to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
-
Trace some Crystal Effects over the web lines and let dry. You’re done!
I hope you enjoyed today’s project.

what cardstock letters did you use? Or did you cut them with the big shot?
