We have a handmade advent calendar that my Mother-In-Law helped me make. Both of my boys have their own so that they can pass it down to their children - if they don't destroy them first!

I have boxes with a written clue in each. The clue will lead them to a surprise! (hot cocoa, cookie mix, sprinkles, a movie, etc.) I started doing this with my kids when my oldest was 5. He is now 21!!! He still calls them his "Christmas memories".

We still have the original "crewel work" tree sewn on burlap by my Granny-Jean. There are 25 days on our tree and 25 pockets on the bottom. Each day 1 hand stitched ornament goes on a different branch. For 25 years my brothers Lance (31) and Charlie (39) still argue about the star vs. candy cane for the tree topper. They both drive 30 min each way to my Moms to sneakly switch out the tree topper on the calendar. I'm 43 and I see no change in sight, I love it, it makes me feel like a little girl again.

The planner is stellar! I hope you can consider letting us purchase the tutorial at some point, or at least something close. Happy Holidays!!!

The grandkids do an advent calendar and keep us up to date on how many days are left. We watch all the cartoon movies (Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc.) and "Jack Frost". Make cookies and chex mix. Guess some of that is not really a "count down", but more like traditional. Hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season.
