Holiday Blitz Day 6: Frosty the Snowman Punch Tin & another winner

Posted on: Sunday, November 23rd, 2008

How are all my favorite stampers doing today?  I really hope you are all enjoying the Holiday Blitz Event and getting all sorts of fabulous ideas on creative ways to use your Stampin’ Up! products. For today’s project, I thought I’d share with you an adorable way to package up a gift for someone: my Frosty the Snowman Punched Tin.

The whole concept of creating Frosty the Snowman using punches is not my original idea – I saw him  as a card on Dawn Griffith’s blog, and she apparently got the idea from someone named Juliet. I don’t know Juliet’s last name so  I unfortunately I can’t share that with you. Juliet – if you are reading this, I’d love you to email me!

When I saw the Frosty card, I thought that he would look absolutely adorable on a small clear paint tin.  I’ve put together a few pictures below along with a description to show you how I made him.

Step 1: To create Frosty’s face you’ll need to punch 6 circles out of Black CS using the 1/2" circle punch, two circles out of black CS using the 1" circle punch, once circle out of Pumpkin Pie CS using the 1 1/4" circle punch, and three circles out of Whisper White CS using the 1 3/8" circle punch.

Step 2: To create his eyes, I started by sticking the 1" black circles to the 1 3/8" white circles using my 2-way glue pen.  I then took my white Signo gel pen and created the center of his eyes by drawing the shape of a comma.

Step 3: To create his eyelids I took one of the 1 3/8" white circles, patted my VersaMark pad all over it and heat embossed it with Iridescent Ice EP.   I then cut it in half and used the halves as the eyelids.  I attached them to the eyes using 2-way glue.

Step 4:  You are now going to need your small clear paint tin (I purchased mine from Pritchard Packaging about a year ago. Unfortunately they are no longer selling them so I’ll need to find another source.  I took my 1" double-stitched Bashful Blue Grosgrain ribbon and tied it around the bottom of the tin to act as a scarf.

Step 5: Run a strip of sticky strip all around the top edge of the tin. Take two 3/4" x 8" pieces of Black CS and using your white signo gel pen, draw stitching along the top and bottom edges.  Let dry.

Step 6: Remove the backing from the sticky strip, attach the Black CS strip, overlapping the ends. Cut a black CS circle to fit the tin using the Coluzzle circle cutting system (I used the third largest circle).  Draw black stitching all around the edge.  Let dry, attach to the top of the tin using Sticky Strip. This creates the band of his hat.

Step 7: Punch out three flowers from Real Red CS using the three flower punch.  Place a small white dot in the center of each using the White Signo Gel pen.  Attach the flowers to the black CS band using 2-way glue pen.

Step 8:  Attach Frosty’s face using sticky strip.  To create his nose, I cut the 1 1/4" Pumpkin Pie circle in half and sponged Pumpkin Pie classic ink around the edges.

Step 9:  Place your gift inside the tin and then fill the tin with cotton balls, iridescent strands and some buffalo snow (iridescent fake snow).

That’s it!  Easy-peasy wasn’t it.

And now……drumroll please……the winner of yesterday’s draw for the pdf tutorial of the Christmas Planner tin is Becky Robinson!  Congratulations Becky!  In order to draw my winners I use the website www.random.org so that the winner is randomly drawn.  Becky, please email me at andrea@sunnystampin.com in order to claim your prize!

For Holiday Blitz Day 6 I’ll be drawing another winner for the tutorial for this tin. In fact, I’ll be giving away this particular tutorial for 7 days in all.  After that, it will be a different tutorial for a different project.  This tutorial includes a supply list, dimensions and over 40 step-by-step color photos on how to make this project. For more details about the Holiday Blitz Event click here.

A lot of you have been emailing me and asking me if you could purchase the tutorial for this planner tin since I am unable to give it away free (because it was a special Make and Take for a paid event)  The answer is yes! You can purchase the tutorial by clicking HERE.

Today’s question:  What are you most thankful for this Christmas season?

Just so we’re all on the same page – the winner of today’s draw will be announced tomorrow evening (EST) when I post Holiday Blitz Day 7.  You can expect our daily posts to be released in the EVENING (EST).

Great snowman tin and all the other creative ideas you’ve posted during this blitz! I am most thankful this year for the return of laughter in my house.

Last year was a tough year at work for myself and with too many deaths in my family. My children didn’t see much laughter from either my husband or myself. This year, we are finally all starting to heal and the silliness and fun is back. This Christmas, there are four new baby cousins in the family with one coming all the way from China to join our extended family. And Mommy has finally found her creative side again thanks to your creative postings.

Thank you.

I am taking the time to bake and cook lots of homemade meals and goodies. I am thankful for the opportunity to entertain my friends and family. I am thankful for the opportunity to do the things that I like best and make this the best holiday ever while enjoying every second of it with those that matter most to me.

59

I am thankful for the love of God, my family and the freedom to say that each day.

60

I am most thankful for my family and that we have been blessed with good health this past year. I am thankful that we have a roof over our heads, food on our table, and clothes to keep us warm this winter.

61

I am thankful for so many things, but most of all, for a job that I love, my house, and my daughter, and we may not have everything, but to us, what we have is each other, which is Everything!

62

I’m thankful for family and friends, for a warm home with food available when I want it, for the freedom I have as an American. I’m also thankful for a hope-filled future for our country.

I’m most thankful for my health. I’ve had 2 surgeries this year and I hope to be around for a while to enjoy my children.

Bobbie :)

65

I have so many things to be thanksful for, but if I have to narrow it down, the most important things to me are my DH, my two daughters and my grandchildren. All are relatively healthy.

72

I am thankful for my family and that all are healthy!

73

I am thankful that we’ve moved closer to family, so my daughter can see her auntie and her grandparents so much more often than before. I *really* miss my friends from New England, but on that end I’m thankful that Facebook & cell phones make it so easy to keep in touch! If only someone could perfect the Star Trek “beaming” system, I’d be all set!

74

I’m so very thankful that my family is close enough for almost all of us to get together during the holidays!

75

I am most grateful for our friends Eric and Jen. Eric has brain anyrsom that went undiagnosed for a couple months. It has been taken care of and they just had their 2nd child, a baby girl. They said that if they hadn’t caught it that he wouldn’t have lasted 4 more months. Thanks God for miracles. That was an easy question. Thanks for all you do.

76

I am thankful as always for my family but this year I will be most thankful for our first grandchild – a boy – who hasn’t arrived yet, but will be here in time for Christmas.

77

I am thankful that this year I will be able to spend Christmas with BOTH of my sons. Jacob will be home from Basic Training and his older brother, George is currently/temporarily living at home and he is also enlisting and will be leaving in January for his Basic Training, so we have no idea where either will be by this time next year. So I am thankful to have them with me for sure this year and that they have decided to support their country and be amongst those protecting our freedom, like their father and grandfathers.

78

I am thankful for my family, our continued health, and that we still have jobs to pay the bills.

79

He’s adorable Andrea! TFS!!

Meanwhile, to echo everyone else, I am thankful for my family. My parents, my husband, siblings, aunts uncles, neice, nephews, everyone- especially my little daughter Sophie who just turned 1 a few weeks ago. It will be her 2nd Christmas, but the first that she can participate.

83

I am so thankful for my family and friends. We are truly blessed and I thank God for that each and every day. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! You do fabulous work!

84

my family

85

Saying family sounds so insincere, kind of like beauty pageant contestants I want world peace, but after nearly losing a member, family is what I am most thankful for.

86

Having God in my life. I went through 15 years of my adult life not believing in God, and I am so thankful that He didn’t give up on me because His grace amd peace are such wonderful gifts to have!

87

I am thankful for the creative women like you who inspire me on a daily basis to create. I have a couple of these clear paint cans and now I have something to do with them. Thanks Andrea (and Dawn!wink)!

I have a lot to be thankful for, but right now I am most thankful that I have a job.

88

I am thankful for my family and friends, good health, and a good job. I know these are the normal things that we all say, but they are the elements that make life my life so rich. Not everyone has all of these things so we should always be thankful for them.

89

Cute project!
This season I am thankful that my family has just about everything we need so we will be helping out those that don’t.A well for clean drinking water, we get ours from a tap. Chickens to help feed a village because we can buy ours from the store any day we want to. Warm blankets to comfort and protect, like we get just by living here in Canada. We are truly blessed!

90

I love your picture directions which allow me to be able to follow. (I am a huge visual learner). Thank you so much fo rall the great info. I am so thankful this year that all my kids have their health. 98

Frosty is so cute!!

I am definately most thankful for the health of my three beautiful children and loving husband (and a healthy extended family as well)! So grateful that for everything else we need to worry about right now, health is not one of them :)

99

101

I’m thankful for every single day. Life is so wonderfull….all of it. The good the bad and the ugly. Thanks Andrea for everything you do that makes all of us a little happier. Irene

102

I’m thankful for the many blessings the Lord has provided in my life. The biggest blessing would definitely be my family.

103

I’m thankful for my two gorgeous little boys, who are so affectionate and loving. Their cuddles are the best!

My husband!! (who’s been unemployed since Aug 2007 and still he hasn’t gotten on my nerves) ;o)

106

109

we are truly blessed with our family my parents, my 2 brothers and sister and their spouses, our kids, the neices and nephews..and my mother in law will all be together for Christmas…there are usually 30 or so, family and friends celebrating the true meaning of Christmas…along with great food and tons of laughter…

110

113

I am most thankful for God’s love, then comes my family – my husband and children are THE BEST!

114

First I am most thankful for the celebration of the birth of Jesus and the reminder of everything He continues to do for all us as Hid children. This coming Christmas I will especially thankful for our incredible family…my wonderful husband and our five children and with our eldest getting married this will be her last Christmas living at home…so it will be bittersweet for me. Mostly sweet but tinged with a little sadness.

It will be a special holiday season for our family.

Hi Andrea,

I am thankful for our family and our good health. Also, for my husband having a job and always finding ways to push ahead even when the going gets tough.

Besides the obvious (family, friends, and health), I’m thankful for creativity. I love stamping, whether it’s doing it myself or enjoying the work of others!

134

I’m thankful for my family and that they are all well. I’m thankful that my Mum and dad just celebrated their 78 and 81st brithdays and I will see them in ireland next week so family who are in good health is a real blessing.Love the snowman tin, will have to look out for some tins as I have never seen them anywhere.
Thanks again for all of the ideas
Eileen

135

I am most thankful for my family of course. If I had to pick something besides family it would be my wonderful husband. He is very hardworking and always makes time for myself and the kids.

136

I am thankful that we aren’t travelling this year and are staying put! I’m excited about staying in my PJ’s and being lazy with my family Christmas morning instead of rushing around!

137

I am thankful for my husband who loves me everyday even though he does not understand this stampin’ thing.

I am also thankful for all the stampers like Andrea who are so generous with their ideas and time.

138

I am most thankful for my family and the wonderful blessing God has bestowed upon me.

139

I am thankful for health and well being of all my family and a loving husband and great SU job!

140

I would saw most of all I am thankful for Christs birth & our freedom to worship.
After that there is multitude of things :)

The tin was adorable.
Thanks for all you do.
Be blessed!

141

I am most thankful to have a loving family who are all healthy and happy.

I’m most thankful for my family, but most of all my daughter. My daughter is a diebtic. She takes at least 4 shots a day sometime more. Plus she has to test her blood MANY times a day. She is 14 and with school she is active in her youth group at church plus plays the drums in the Youth Praise Band at church. I almost lost her during my preg. and I thank God for her everyday.

146

This snowman is adorable!! I love all the wonderful ideas you come up with Andrea.

I am most thankful for having God in my life and the blessings he has bestowed on my family!

147

Love him! Mf family and friends.

148

Most grateful for my soon to be born first grandchild (our miracle little boy) sometime in December. I continue to pray that he is a very healthy little boy. darlene

149

I love this tin!

I am most thankful for my husband and my health. This year I have lost 125 pounds and feel more alive than I ever have! My husband has been there for every breakdown, for every scale victory, and he is just amazing!!

150

My dad just went through a major surgery and is recovering well, so this year I am most thankful for my family and their good health.

151

It has been a long year with many sad events, but I am thankful that God has been with us every step of the way. My husband’s brother died at the age of 30 of a brain tumor, and I am thankful for the miracle we received that we were able to spend 2 great years with him, he was alive for the birth of my 2-year-old and was able to see her many times before he died. I am also thankful for having an outlet like stamping to help me deal with the stress and depression that came with all the events of the year. I think my favorite memory of the year is that when my daughter was asked at preschool, “what does your mom like to do,” she said that I like to make things for people.

152

I am most thankful for my health, my family, my friends and time off at Christmas from many hectic occupations to re-generate the body for the upcoming year……….

153

I am thankful for the wonderful year my daughter and I have had. It has been hard as a single mother however the peace we now enjoy is priceless.
Happy Holidays!

154

I am most thankful for a healthy family.

155

I am so thankful for family, friends and my faith. Sometimes it has been rough this year, but we all made it through it and I am so thankful that I always have food on my table and a roof over my head.

156

Family, Friends & Faith…….I have so much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and thank you for sharing all your wonderful ideas.

158

I am so very thankful for my family, all 5 of us: my hubby, daughter, 2 sons of the 4-legged version and of course my extended family!

It will be wonderful to be together & relax! No running errands, no work, no household cleaning, having our daughter home & enjoying a day together to play games, etc.

Stampin’ Smiles from Ear to Ear,
Ann :)

159

My first grandchild was born two days ago. This will be the best Christmas ever!

160

I am thankful for my family and that everyone is healthy!

161

With every moment of every day I am thankful for my relationship with Christ, my fabulous husband and our 4 amazing children. We’ve had times of plenty and times of want but my faith and family are constant. Life is good!
