Bodacious Birthday Card
Posted on: Sunday, April 29th, 2007If you’ve been reading my blog at all, you’d have picked up by now that I am what I call a “simple” stamper. For the most part I specialize in clean, colorful simple card designs. Because I have a hard time visualizing a card from start to finish, I find that I often need a “springboard” to get me going. In this case, I turned to one of Stampin’ Kubs cards. I really admire his clean, simple style and interesting layouts. Once I’ve got the general layout design I decide on the stamp set(s) that I want to use. Once I’ve got that figured out, I take a look through my embellishments to see if anything “catches my mood”. In this case, I came across my “Sweet Shop” ribbon collection and picked my favourite design. Once I had that, I started fishing through my cardstock drawers (I have 2 filing cabinet drawers dedicated to my 8.5 x 11 cardstock) and started trying different color combinations. This is finally what I settled on: Certainly Celery, Almost Amethyst, Rose Red and So Saffron. The stamp sets I used were Bodacious Bouquet and It’s Your Birthday. I used my corner rounded to create the scalloped edge on my Almost Amethyst strip of cardstock (you can see a quick tutorial of it by Beate Johns HERE). I stapled the piece of ribbon onto the Almost Amethyst. The flower was done using the rose red and so saffron Stampin’ Write markers. I added a little dabs of crystal effects and glitter to the center spots for a little “bling”. I then cut the flower out, leaving a small white border and mounted it on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The swirly stem was stamped directly on the card front. For a full listing of supplies, please click on the card and you’ll be re-directed to my SCS gallery. All supplies are Stampin’ Up!.
