“Sale-a-Brate” a Birthday
Posted on: Thursday, February 7th, 2008
As I’m sure you all know by now, Stampin’ Up!’s most anticipated promotion of the year has started: Sale-a-Bration! Just in case you haven’t heard, you can link to my blog post that talks all about it HERE. I decided to create a card that showcased one of the limited edition stamp sets: Lots of Thoughts. What I love about this stamp set, is that it’s a whole bunch of greetings that have been designed specifically to fit inside Stampin’ Up!’s circle and scallop punches.
The base of the card is More Mustard CS. I layered on a mat of Real Red CS. As you can see from the picture, I first punched a scalloped edge using our corner rounder punch (if you’re not sure how to do this, here’s a link to a tutorial that was created by Beate Johns), then punched a small hole in the center of each scallop using my 1/16" handheld punch. The designer paper comes from the awesome East Coast Prep Collection. I matted it on Tempting Turquoise CS and then tied some Wild Wasabi double-stitched ribbon around it in a knot. The main image comes from the Fun and Fast Notes stamp set. I colored it in using my blender pens and classic inks in More Mustard, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Wild Wasabi. As you can probably tell from the picture, I added glitter of course! The greeting, as I mentioned earlier is a Sale-a-Bration set – which you can get absolutely free with a $70 order. I stamped it in black, punched it out using the 1 3/8" circle punch and then matted it on a More Mustard scalloped circle on which I pierced the scallops. All supplies are Stampin’ Up!

May I use your layout and basic design in a swap for demos? I want to change the cake image, but use the rest, and wanted to get permission from you first.
This is a great card!

I love your ideas. Would you consider doing a card class using a simply scrapin’ kit? I really like the Summer Days kit. I told my customers that you could make 45-60 cards with one kit because I’ve seen it done before and they really want to do one. I just haven’t had the time to make one up. I teach full time. It would be great if you could do one. Thanks! Jill
