Posted on: Tuesday, December 15th, 2009With Christmas just barely over a week away I know most of us have been focused on last minute preparations, but did you know that once we hit the New Year, Valentine’s is only 6 weeks away? Although it may not seem pressing right now when there are other things to worry about, if you leave your Valentine’s planning until the last minute, you may end up scrambling.
Whether you are planning on making Valentine’s projects just for yourself, or you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator planning to offer classes (especially if you’re an SU demo offering classes), it’s a good idea to start getting a jump start on things. I certainly have, and that’s what I wanted to share with you today. I actually only ever make one Valentine’s card, and that’s for my hubby. Otherwise, I end up buying little Valentine’s cards (isn’t that bad?)!

My fav Valentine projects are little containers of some sort I can make for my co-workers and friends – usually something that I fill with Hershey Kisses…..I usually have to buy double the amount of Kisses ’cause they mysteriously disappear!

I would like to see quick and easy projects, that can be

One of the problems I have is needing one certain color of
brad or button to match the project. I can either order

My favorite Valentines projects have to do with chocolate. So anything that helps me offer chocolate in a nice packaging idea would be awesome… or treat boxes, bags, etc.

First of all, love all of these!!! I can’t wait to start using the mini cat sets. I can’t believe we are doing Valentine’s already! I haven’t even got my Christmas stuff done! My hubby fell on the stairs last night and has a compound fracture of his foot, so now Christmas juts got a little more crazy =)
Okay, as far as what I like to do for Valentine’s Day is finding a cute way to dress up suckers for the kids. I love using our punches to make toppers for those and other little candy bags for my friends. Maybe you might have some new ideas with some of the new stuff? That would be awesome. I LOVE 3D projects and holders for my kids to take to school with them for all their little cards. I remember making little things like that when I was their ages in school and that was so much fun! It was always fun to open them up to find out what was inside. With a little one finally in school I am very excited to make some this year for him to give. The only valentine projects I do are cards. It is easy to make cards for my husband’s sisters, but I have a hard time making them for my brothers. I don’t want to use dark browns, greens etc, but pink is a bit much. Also I like to use hearts, but don’t want them too lovey dovey. It is my brothers after all.

Great projects! I like to see 3-D projects for Valentine’s Day. They are always fun because you can put different things inside them; cady for kids, lotion for friends and love notes for you significant other. I love making treat boxes with wrapped candies. I love seeing the faces of folks at the Sr. Center, or the nursing homes when they receive them! It’s always something a little different, and it’s fun to brighten their otherwise lonely days!

Valentine’s Day is my Christmas! I haven’t sent Christmas cards out in years, but have done Valentine’s Day cards instead. My family and friends even send me thank you notes for the Valentine’s cards. Plus it’s nice for them to get mail in wintery February and it stands out more because so few people do it. I also make handmade Valentine’s cards for kids, which right now will be a class of 3rd graders. Some 3-D valentine craft ideas would be great, because I am the Valentine party coordinator too.

This is why: I fondly remember making things in school with ribbons, pinks, reds, white contrats, silky ribbon, touches of gold or silver, and the white paper doilies. Maybe some cut and pasted angels…really going to the extra effort to pour love and attention into that special valentine….which of course i always gave to my mom
So I still like texture, layers, the pinks, reds and whites…and let’s not spare the glitter either!
Something i’d like to see on the blog: Things we can do with the kids. Some 3D giftables…and of course…product from the new Occasions mini and the Saleabration.

“Love Sparkles” and “Happy Hearts” are both too cute. I mostly like to do cards for Valentine’s Day. Some more elaborate than others. Buttons and lace. Easy bigger projects that look like I spent a lot of time (don’t know what they would be exactly). You are right, Valentine’s will be here before we know it. Thanks for all of you girls GREAT ideas. The punch stuff is so fun and clever and each one, even if they are the same, is a little different. I love my cross eyed penguin. It was a happy accident.

Hi Andera, My favorite thing at Valentine’s Day was the day my husband arranged a Barbor Shop Quartet to come to my place of work and sing to me on his behalf. They brought with them a red rose and sang three or four songs. The gals I worked with at the time really enjoyed it too.

I would love more 3D valentine items which are easy to make and giveaway ‘freely” at school without feeling bad when the other kids just rip into them. I am not a fan of this stamp set. However, I do like the projects you’ve made for this stamp set and I would certainly use the projects using a different stamp set.
I personally would like to see more punch items for this blog along with some kinds of boxes that have dividers. the box with dividers would make a great Valentines Gift. One could have cookies, one side could have chocolates etc….. I would also like to see more projects using the Bis Shot and dies.

I really love these projects, they are just gorgeous! And for a change we have most of the supplies in NZ, except I think for the Rose Red DSP you’ve used. Great!
In New Zealand we don’t tend to give out lots of Valentines cards and gifts – it tends to be just one, to a “significant other”. So I’d love to see a combination of a really wow card and some kind of gift, that would appeal to men. I think us girls love the pink and chocolate colour combination, but I’m not convinced my husband does!

I love the colors…valentines day boy I am just finishing up teachers gifts…types of projects I like are one that you can do in 30 minutes….I love making things for my two daughters classes so that works out to about 70 treat boxes or enevolopes.Ah yes as you have read I do like boxes and enevolopes…thanks for all the sharing that you do it is a big help when I have a block..take care and Merry Christmas from my home to yours.

I love making my own little love notes for my family to receive in the days leading up to valentine’s. They think it is so much fun to find a little note and treat in an unexpected place! I also love making valentines with my kids to give out to their friends and classmates. These always need to be very simple to mass-produce, but still “neat”. I like to make Heart-shaped peppermints; take two small candycanes, put them on parchment paper so the ends are touching to look like a heart. Pout melted white chocolate bark or chips in the center. Top with crushed candy canes. Cool and peel off the paper.

I love making valentines for my son’s classmates. Last year, they were 3. I kept it simple – orange paper, white paper, and orange ink with the fish from SU Toucan of My Love. They were quick and reminded me of stamping basics and why I love it so much – sometimes we get so caught up in the embellishments and techniques (don’t get me wrong, I love all that too).
I’d like to see good valentine’s gifts for a husband. I’d like to see paper crafts wrap up some XBox or Wii accessories. Let’s see it, Andrea!

I saw this on your demo to demo website and think it is super cute!!! For Valentines Day I like to take either flowers or cupcakes…something cute and form them into a heart shape. Then I take a picture ans use it on the front of my card. I add some rub-ons and maybe a brad and some ribbon. I think it makes the card more personal.

I like any project that I can make a ton of and is easy to make. As for Christmas, Valentines and other holidays, I usually need to make multiples of the project.

My favorite Valentine projects to make are those for children. I have 3 young children who take Valentine’s to preschool/school and I also teach preschool, so I make all my Valentine’s, Christmas gifts, etc.

My favorite projects are ones that I can pop some chocolate in, so little boxes, cards with pockets. I have found just one square of chocolate in a handmade presentation really makes people smile.

Hi Andrea! I think you have outdone yourself, though I LOVE everything you do! The colors are great and these kits are wonderful…I want to get started right away on some projects with all the ideas you kindly share with us.
I love making cards for Valentine’s Day, but I like something I can create to package a small amout of candy or some other little treat like a small tin or a bag fashioned as a purse or another type of container. I also like making things that are quite simple, but eye catching with my granddaughter!

Hi. I make Valentine cards. Sometimes small love note size messages to leave “special” places. I might do some bags of candy this year, but for certain, I’ll do cards.

Love making treat bags– I mass produce and thus tend to do toppers on a clear bag. Valentine’s is one of my top crafting holidays!

For Valentine’s day, I usually just make special cards for the kids and hubby. Last year I used Real Red, Whisper White and Basic Black for some fun cards. This year, I am going try to stretch myself using some non-traditional Valentine’s colours. I still have part of a DS paper that has all these cool little boxes with sayings on them, I will have to find a way to incorporate them again this year.
For your blog, I’d love to see some grown up Valentine’s Day card.. the whimsical is cute, but I’d like to see something more romantic, and for my husband… that might be a good challenge!

My favorite Valentine’s are little candy boxes or treasure boxes for friends. I would like to see some more ideas for cards for kids (5-10) as I live in a small town with a lot of kids and love to hand out cards and treats on the different Holidays. Thanks for having such a great website.

I would love to see a different way to do a large quantity of treats that isn’t the standard clear bag with folded paper top. Anything that would work for giving to both boys and girls would be great!

My upline and I were talking card stamping while I was driving cross country to a medical need in my family. We have to make time to be Mom and move away from the crafting table at times. Our theme was gearing up for the big V-day! Imagine My delight at finding your site upon arriving here in Illinois this week! Gorgeous V-day cards. The brown and pink are just wonderful. I’d like to see them with green and pink as well. A girlfriend has a green and pink shabby chic office….thought it would make a good color pallet as well? Something to ponder on the way back to Virginia on Sunday…..

I love pink and chocolate brown…great choice. As for the types of things I like to see for valentines day. Definately 3D items and smaller cards like a 3 x 3 or a postcard type. This is what I need to think of for school so that kids have something easy to make and give to all their classmates.

I love to make small candy surprises for the kids to take to school. Last year they took teddy grahams and gummy bears for their friends with a tag-I hug you.

I would love to see a variety of non-traditional colors used for valentines as I have a couple of boys and pinks are not necessarily the choice color. I also, like how you take an unepectectant stamp set and create a card with it for a theme not necessarily first choice. You are so talented at thinking outside the box and I am so grateful for all of the hard work that you put into your creativity! (But I have a feeling it is not hard for you otherwise you wouldn’t keep doing it) I also like that you don’t worry about people being judgemental of your work-that is one of my flaws, I am always too concerned of what others will think of my card that I tend to procrastinate and not necessarily enjoy or let the creative juices run freely! Keep up the great work and enjoy the holiday season with your family!

I love everything about your blog and Demonstrator site! I made Vday cards with sweethearts inside last year. I would love to see some ideas for childrens valentines exchanges that perhaps they could join in on making … that means simple but cute! One of things becoming a Demonstrator has allowed me to do is to share my love of crafting with my children (though it has taken me a bit to relax about all of the staining on my wood!). Talk about a self-esteem booster for kids … to help make valentines to give to friends and family!
