Wow, what a day!! I woke up to the first big snow storm of the season. From no snow to about a foot and a half in the space of a day. School was canceled, and of course, this was the day I had planned to go to Walmart to get some presents, and even more importantly a shovel. So much for being prepared!! I had boots and snowsuits bought early on, I had snow tires placed on my car early on. Everything was ready…….except for a darn shovel. So myself and three kids dragged ourselves to the Walmart and did the shopping. By the time I got home I had two foot snowdrifts blown across my driveway. I had to dig a path around the van and to the door so that the kids would not get lost in the drifts. I thank the good Lord so much that I have a kind neighboor who surprised me by snowblowing my laneway. The kids were helping out earlier too. I had gotten some mini shovels that were as sturdy as the big one I bought, and they were shoveling the walkway for fun. Their shoveling extended from the walkway all the way into the backyard where they proceded to dig out forts. Winter sure is fun when you are young!!
anyway, on to my project. I just did a simple tag to show off the spool of thread punch pal. It is meant for those of you who like to do hand sewn gifts. I used to do those when I had more time, but now I only sew on a as need basis. I figure that once all the kids are in school, I will start back into it more seriously again. For the meantime, I will offer up the idea of making a custom tag for all those beautiful projects which I am sure many of you are presently making.
Instructions:
- Cut out 2 Top Note Tags. One out of Soft Suede, and one out of Very Vanilla. Trim the border of the Very Vanilla Top Note and mount in on to your Soft Suede tag with Snail Adhesive.
- Sponge Creamy Caramel Classic ink on the edges of your tag.
- From your Soft Suede CS, cut out your letters for your tag. Glue it to your tag with Tombow glue
- Punch a hole in the top left hand corner of your tag, and set a Jumbo Eyelet into the hole with your Crop-A-Dile
- Stick your Spool of thread to the tag using 2 stampin’ Dimensionals, one on the top and one on the bottom. You are done.

For you, it was the shovel; for me it was the car scraper/brush. I can never find mine when I need it! guess I’m going shopping for one today.

What a clever way to use that punch!! I’m glad to hear that you were at least able to get to the store for the shovel, if a bit late — now you’ll be ready for tomorrow.

Too cute!! It’s good to hear some people get prepared ahead of time. I try but it doesn’t always work out. Your needle and thread are adorable. Thanks for sharing.

I can see what your creative mind can do with a large amount of snow; now, I don’t wish any more white & stuff, but I can’t wait for another stamp/sewing tutorial! WOW—it’s so neat, it’s scary! THX..

This is co cute. Love the spool and needle. Clever, clever, clever. We already had our first snow in Texas, but we didn’t need a shovel. I think it was gone by noon. That’s the best snow. Pretty, then gone without a trace. Stay warm. Thanks for the tag and the video.

Hi Sophia!
You continually amaze me!
Once again, you’ve come up with another really cute and practical project.
I’d like to know some things about your creative process. Do you have an idea just pop into your head – like a light bulb going off? Or do you struggle to come up with these idea’s? Also, who in the stamping/punch art world inspires YOU?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful and creative project – so that we can be inspired by your work!

Who wants snow? I’d gladly give some away! Where I am, we got about a foot and a half of extremely wet, heavy snow and high winds causing power outages and treacherous traveling conditions. We even had thunder snow…yes, thunder and lightning, heavy snow, then turning to sleet and then back to snow! I finally got my internet, phone and cable back today after losing it Tuesday night. Thank goodness for Andrea and Sophia for keeping us all inspired!
